Glad to hear you're learning French Jade, you should be able to read novels fairly quickly since pronunciation shan't be an issue and you may recognize a lot of vocabulary common with English! The main difficulty is the grammar which is a bit more convoluted depending on the authors and the period too, but for the more simple contemporary novels that shouldn't be much of an issue, so 'bonne chance et bon courage' cheers🥂

Well Done, Jade. I do love your crusade to counter Americanisation. The decay is so pernicious these days and sometimes I fall into the trap. But please, please. Swap "hi" for hello. Hello is more British. Hi sounds like bloody California.

All very good advice. I started learning Russian about 18 months ago and at first felt like the dumbest student in the class. The alien looking letters like Ж, щ, и, ч , ц , д , ю like what the? Took about a week to learn the letters and then I could read in Russian. I'm still a beginner but it's amazing when you hear someone speak and actually fully grasp bits of what they say. People say what use is it and why Russian? I've been interested since the space station was launched how the two cultures work together. Despite what's happening politically, I still think it's a great challenge, basically I just do it because it's hard. My advice is jump in and start swimming 😄😎👍❤️

Some of my coworkers were lucky enough (or should I say they had the good fortune?) to grow into families able to afford a year in a board school in UK for them. I didn't. I was educated in public schools and got good grades, and therefore grants, only with my talent and effort. But sadly that wasn't enough for the goals I aim in my career. Basically, when I'm speaking I sound to myself like Gloria Pritchet on Modern Family. That's why I'm so thankful for chanels like yours and the tools you make available for us who can't afford expensive lesson.
