The lawyer isn’t doubting Karl. She is neither endorsing or doubting what he said. She is giving her legal opinion, based on the information she was given. She is just saying that “If all the information that Karl has provided is what happened, then yes, this could be illegal.” It’s not her doubting Karl, it’s just saying “If these are the fact, then this is the possible outcome.”

I don’t think we need “More Regulation” on the market; at least not to what pertains in this WATA/Heritage situation. Because the regulation is already in place, the issue is that these companies are probably not following the FTC guidelines and regulations that are already in place. So more regulations would only be punishing other companies by adding more rules, when the ones who did wrong had broken the rules that were already in place.

I never recognized WATA as anything of value. When I buy and look for games all I do is look for good clean raws or VGA at most. For me WATA will decrease the value of the game if anything. I only do VGA even though VGA has its share of pitfalls, but I am glad I stuck to my guns.

In regards to the SM64 9.5 vs the 9.8 A++, I don't believe Karl would doubt that a WATA grade will always command a price premium. From his first video he is trying to justify his belief that WATA has manipulated various things in order to get into a position where they are considered the standard for video game grading. It seems like they have succeeded in that whether it be because of the shady actions that were taken or because people believe in the product. Obviously there will be other factors playing in at this high end but we're talking a difference of over 500 thousand dollars for what is considered a "perfect" game by either company. I also share his concern that the WATA name alone seems to carry so much weight when you factor in how they got to this point.

Karl Jobst rubs me the wrong way personally, and I'm not even saying he hasn't done great work with these stories. He keeps saying things like "I wasn't sure if viewers would connect the dots" and "please take notes as this may get too complicated to understand," basically every which way you can say "the viewers aren't smart enough to keep up" that you can. He takes some logically fallacious shortcuts to protect his argument, like when he says people would only disagree with him because they're worried about their own skin in the game, or when he tries to spin up extra evidence he doesn't need, like eBay listings with high prices demonstrating some sort of mass scamming movement. The nail in the coffin came after he asked GTGG how he thought collectors' interest would be affected by to all these allegations and videos. GTGG started to answer by referencing the only way you can really measure collector interest: market value. But as he started to answer, Karl interrupted and threw what could only really be described as a profanity-laden tirade about how he "doesn't f'ing care" about the values and market prices and "why does everyone always go right to market value? Why is it always about the money?" He just kind of seems like a contemptuous bully, even though some of the work in these videos is compelling and important.
