when I worked at a grocery as a cashier, most cashiers knew how to give cashback without having to buy anything-Safeway. We weren't supposed to do it technically (they want people to buy stuff), but nobody ever got in trouble for doing it. Even my boss came through my till on many occasions and asked me to do it for her when she left for home lol item not on file > department> Grocery> enter 0$. Click enter, hit payment> debit> click cashback amount. customer inserts card in terminal- bing bang boom.. I mainly did free cash backs to my coworkers or some of my favourite customers. most customers don't know that you don't actually have to pay for anything to get cash back. So majority of them by a candy bar, banana, or a pack of gum

If you pause the screen and see the screen says "Purchase $100.95" that means that your card will be debited $100.95 but this could save you the hassle of going to an ATM machine if you needed cash in the first place. But the bank has a way of bifurcating purchase and cash advance and they may still charge you fees for cash advance and also interest till you fully payback the money. There is no free credit period when taking cash advance. If you are making part payments then there is interest charged on all purchases till they are not fully paid up. Thus, always pay your card dues in full (I used to work for Citibank)
