Apart from road numbers, the key to success in Sweden is bus stops - each of the 21 regions has their unique design and colour scheme.

@@klinken2120 Det är där hårda vs mjuka vokaler kommer in i bilden. AOUÅ är hårda vokaler, så konsonanterna k och g uttalas som just k och g framför dem. EIYÄÖ är mjuka vokaler, så där uttalas konsonanterna k och g som "tj" och "j" istället. Det är därför "göra" bara stavas med g, eftersom ö är mjukt, medans gjorde/gjort måste stavas med gj eftersom o är en hård vokal.

Its fun to see someone play sweden that dont know where anything is. And also, since you dont know about sweden alot of clues are missed. Mölndal stad tells you nothing but if you know sweden it tells you where you are. Every swede knows where Leksand is but if you arnt from sweden, how could you know. Its like me playing Brasil where I dont even know where the larger cities are located or what their names are.
@robertalexanderson829
@robertalexanderson829 23 күн бұрын
Yeah the fact that the sign says "stad" and not kommun is also a tell it is a bigger city. It litteraly means city. Also Mölndal is where I grew up so kind of funny to see Lindome in a sign and instantly realise aproximatley where it was. I dont think you know where Lindome is unless you are from the Gothenburg area, whereas alot of people would know Mölndal.

I loved it when you saw the road sign for the direction to Sollefteå and thought you where in the Town. Those road signs without a distance numbers are just used for directions when the road situation is complicated. A trick for seeing how far north you are in Sweden is how the forests look. Scane and the west coast is dominated by leaf trees. Middle sweden from Gävle/Stockholm and south is mixed forrest and further north is dominated by Coniferous trees with ever fewer leaf trees the further up you get.

17:22 - It feels like you were only looking in the direct proximity of the E6 and E20. The E6 and E20 signs are surrounded by dotted lines, which means that the sign is pointing towards them. So you can be quite far away. If you had been on the E6 and E20, the sign would have solid lines.

@gangstaboy9387
@gangstaboy9387 15 күн бұрын
I agree with everything except the Ä. But I guess that has to do where in Sweden you're from, I'm from Umeå and I don't really find my Ä sound in Cake anywhere. But I like your comment anyway. (Ursäkta min dåliga engelska) A better word for Ä would be "Ask", where the A sounds nearly as a perfect Swedish Ä. Even "As" works

Å is more like the ”o” in ”ore”, or the ”o” in ”or”, or the ”ou” in ”course”. Ä is more like the ”a” in ”can”, or the ”a” in ”fan”, or the ”a” in ”stash”. Ö is spot on. It can also just be described as the ”uh” sound you make when thinking about something.

I find this to be inaccurate and probably a result of people with Swedish accents. Native English accents do not pronounce the I in Bird anything like a Swedish Ö and probably comes from Swedes with an accent who pronounce "Bird" as "Bööhrd" I also find that the A in Cake is not remotely pronounced like a Swedish Ä. I am a Swede(Specifically Östgötsk with a fairly heavy östgötskt/Linköpings dialect) that speaks English with an indistinguishable accent from Native speakers (specifically American accent) The A in Cake is much more like a "Ceik" or "caik" than it is "cäke" I mean, just try for a minute with English pronounciation to say "cäke" it sounds absolutely ridiculous, I don't even think this could be your regional dialect as no Swedish dialect that I can think of pronounces Ä anything like the A in Cake. Some English words however that come pretty close to a Swedish Ä sound is "Ash" or "Dare" even in old English where they had the "Ä" (technically "Æ") letter, it was called Ash and was fairly close to if not identical to the Scandinavian Ä/Æ. As for "AW" most English speakers wouldn't pronounce it the way Å sounds, but instead with a AH-W sound. Most English speakers would read "Aw" as they would in "Awww" when you imply something cute. I would argue Å is fairly close however to the british pronounciation of the "Aw" in Law. But just "AW" by itself would be read by most English natives the same way as "Awww"

The color of busses gives away soo much. And so does the look of buss stops. They are very regional. Also street names are usually double info they contain the name + a key information about the environment. If a name ends in ”sjö” there is lake near by. The name may also contain the size of the place ”by” means small village ”köping” usually means small town.
