Thank you for these videos. I’ve been listening these last few weeks and getting back to intentional training sessions and walking daily with my dogs. I’m feeling optimistic that my rescue dog can improve even more than he has with all your amazing advise.

The zones: 1 Sleeping 2 eating 3 alone time 4 enrichment 5 education and relationship building 6 unpredictable environment 7 unpredictable environment with awareness and management 8 joy zone This zone layout really helps me visualize where we are, our goals, and how to get there. Thank you, again , Susan, for a wonderful, clear, and helpful podcast! You are a Rockstar.

You have this magical way of posting new podcasts that relates to my most recent thoughts! It's sorta scary😂 Was thinking about this stuff earlier today about how I focus on one thing and either neglect my dog training or neglect myself. So I thought to myself I need to change my lifestyle to fit both. Thanks for bringing this up because it is really important❤

This video is excellent from the 5 minute mark on, but the first five minutes send me into tears. It is classic “ableism”. I pray you will hear me on this. You lecture that I need to step outside the COMFORT of my story. There is nothing comfortable about paralysis or poverty. There is an entire continent of landscapes between “victim” and “action taker.” Those of us in those mountains and valleys can manage some trails and others are severely off limits. We become hyper vigilant about anticipation- so much so that we can freeze because being still can mean pain levels don’t increase. Don’t tell us we are victims. We are actively protecting ourselves from further disaster. What we need teachers and trainers to do is to hear our limits and LISTEN. How do I get my puppy to be a loose leash companion when I use a walker? I don’t have a left hand to hold a leash and a right hand to deliver treats. I can put a bowl of treats on the Walker tray, but then my treat delivery mechanics are different than your Game Day 5. My work around is to spend more time on the crate game IYC, but progress is slow. I am not a victim and I am also limited in the actions I can take. An athletic body would help a great deal. So would household “Uncle” dogs who model behavior (thanks Gary Paulson for that insight). Like my dog, I am doing the best I can with the conditions I am in. Why don’t I post more videos in the Recallers site to get trainer feedback? Because the videos I share are supposed to be just 1 minute. I am too slow for 1 minute to capture much. There is so much fabulous, useful stuff in your podcasts and websites. Understanding how the dog thinks and how my body mechanics matter are fantastically empowering. I suspect “tug” activates dopamine. Very helpful. Please just see the people behind the stories. Tell them the empowering info and invite them to verbalize their work around possibilities. We aren’t all in comfort zones watchingTV

Love love love this episode....think this is my new favourite 😍 This needs to be shouted from the highest mountain....or better still, somehow (this is the difficult part) before dog/puppy comes inside a new home. This will be my new 'go and watch' episode for human/dog teams in my class. I appreciate you so much Susan and Dogs that Team. ❤😊 Susan go have a Vegan dark chocolate and nut cookie😂

Great reminder for me! I'm a Crate Games, HSTD, Handling 360 and Agility Nation student. Is there a list or episode somewhere that tells the "quickie" behaviors we can train? I'm usually working on a specific handling or agility skill that requires warm-up and cool-down, but I can never think of those 30 seconds things to fit in during the day. Thanks!

This is a fabulous podcast that I need to listen to again. I am interested in your work with This especially. My dog has similar issues that you’ve worked on with This but I’m fascinated with the changes you made to her diet. I’ve read that too much protein can lead to behaviour issues with some dogs. How did you arrive at deciding to make the changes you did? Is there a vet who specializes in nutrition within driving distance (I live in the same general area as you do)? Thanks for all you do Susan, you’ve made lives better for so many dogs and their owners.
