GETTING A NEW HAMSTER (and setting up his cage)

After seeing the cutest hamster ever on Facebook, I took a trip to my local pet shop to bring him home. While I wasn't planning on getting another hamster at this specific moment, I had all the necessary supplies, had space for him, and the time to properly care for him. He is currently living in a spare bin cage, but he should be moving into a brand new cage within the next couple weeks!

A lot of people say he looks like a badger and that badger is a good name. I think that it suits him. You could do a hufflepuff cage theme! Or, since we are on the topic of HP, Sirius! I know it would be ironic since he is white but he has some dark coloring 😅 Honestly Hagrid and Neville would be awesome too. Any of the HP names!

The new hamster has a name!!! It’ll be announced in an upcoming video. This was unexpected, but I could not pass up this little baby! Since I had all the supplies needed and knew I also have the time to care for him, I decided I would add a new addition to my home. This bin should be temporary and his permanent cage will be here soon! Most items I used to set up his cage can be found in my shop, www.picklespetshop.com.

I named my baby Gus (from Cinderella). Most of my animals are named after Disney or Harry Potter lol -> Gus, Ursula, Sebastian, lady, Norbert, nagini, & then I have Drogo, Henry, & jiffy! ♥️

I got a little Syrian hamster not that long ago and I wasnt really intrested in getting any new pets but when I found this channel I fell in love with hamsters and I got a hamster named snowy (by my mom) she doing really good with being tamed and I learned alot of my facts from this channel and just wanted to say thank you for all the help 😀

I’ve been doing some research on gerbils ( for fun I’m not getting one) and most people say that Gerbils only need a 10 gallon tank. Is this true? 10 gallons seem super tiny for gerbils? My friends science teacher has a gerbil in a 10 gallon tank and it seems super small. I would like to know if a 10 gallon tank is too small for a gerbil! Thanks!

Personally I feel like a pair of gerbils shouldn’t be kept in anything under a 20 gallon, but I do believe that 10 is the listed minimum most places. My pair love their 40 gallon, so 10 just seems extremely small to me.

10 gallon really doesn’t seem big enough. Generally I would say a 3 feet long tank is the smallest for a pair and they should be kept in pairs. I don’t have a gerbil either thI 😞😂

He’s so handsome! I just recently brought home a tortoiseshell Syrian which I thought was quite unique. I just love how unique their coloring are 😊 Badger is certainly a fitting name.

What a beautiful hamster! You're right about him being so different! I would run to get one that was that adorable! He looked so tiny in that bin, but I really think you hit the jackpot with him, as he looks like he's already a little tame. Congrats! Btw, I placed an order online in your pet shop and it's already on it's way! Great service so far! As for a name, he looks a little like the dogs from 101 Dalmations with his little spotted coat, so maybe a name from one of the dogs in the movie? I forgot some of their names so I am not a big help but I saw someone suggested Badger and it fits him.
