Okay everyone, to the people who want to grow venus flytraps themselves or are already growing them but they are dying, here is the way to grow them. (This is coming from a person who grows very healthy venus flytraps) Water: DIstilled or rain water, but if you wish, you can get a TDS meter and test your tap water and if it has less than 50 PPS (parts per million) then your tap water is safe, but beware of using tap water and DO NOT USE BOTTLED WATER, also the tray method is reccomended (the tray method being that you put the plant in a saucer, and you fill the saucer with an inch of water and the roots will suck up water as need be.) But you could also top water them but do not overwater it as it will get crown rot/root rot. But do not let them dry out either. A trick is to stick your finger in the media you are growing it in andif it is moist but not soggy, then you are good. Light: Full direct sun is the best for these plants, give them at least 4-12 hours of DIRECT sunlight and please do not grow them in a windowsill. Soil: venus flytraps require nutrient poor soil such as peat moss or long fiber sphagnum moss. peat moss and pearlite is beter as 1. It is a LOT cheaper than long fiber sphagnum moss, and 2. it lasts a lot longer as it is not prone to rotting as often. Okay, that is basically the full care instructions that I got from my experience from growing these plants. Below you will find some additional tips to make sure your plants grow the heathiest they can be. Additional tips/information: 1.If the inside of the traps are red/BRIGHT red then that usually means that they are getting enough light. 2. It is okay to stick your finger in one of the traps to make it close, but beware, closing the trap without an insect inside will waste a LOT of energy because it takes quite a bit of energy to make a plant close. 3. please DO NOT grow your plant inside of a tarrarium like most people unfortanately do if you do then when you set it outside the plant will burn becuase it is getting CONCENTRATED light and will burn and die, if you get one of those walmart venus flytraps that come in the plasic tube/cube, TAKE IT OUT OF IT IMMEDIENTLY! The packaging wall SAY you should keep it inside of one but it is not strongly reccomended. If anything was unclear/confusing, then I reccomend that you visit Sarracenia Northwest on youtube, they have great venus flytrap care tips and also show how to grow other carnivorus plants. Botanical Chaos on youtube is also a good source of information and he talks about how to grow the walmart specific flytraps if you need help with that knd specifically. Thank you for reading this entire paragraph about information for these plants. Good day.

Being gay is a sin you got to repent its going to led you to hell and and all of you in the comment section thinking being gay is amazing your being decived.God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.Homosexuality , gayness is a abominiation towards Jesus. Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit or have any share in the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate [by perversion], nor those who participate in homosexuality.

You’re right that there are differences between locations as well as chains… the closest PetSmart to me keeps many of its reptiles in micro tanks that can’t even be 10 gallons, though they are meticulous in cleaning. One Petco near me is atrocious in terms of keeping the tanks clean, while the other is pretty good. Both chains have started trying to feed their beardies salads as well as insects… but as what they feed seems to be almost entirely iceberg lettuce and cabbage, it’s not great. They don’t seem to have a clue about nutrition. At the “dirty” Petco, I actually called a manager on a snarky employee who tried to tell me that THEIR leopard geckos were omnivores, not insectivores, and that was why they had a salad in their tank! (Note: I’m an author who just wrote a book on leopard gecko care, and have kept leopard geckos for a decade.) I think, honestly, the care depends on the store… but overall, both are pretty bad. I could detail the wrongs I see, from bacteria-farming reptile carpet to notoriously inaccurate stick-on thermometers and hygrometers … but I’d be preaching to the choir, honestly. These stores advocate poor care in their pamphlet guides, have their shelves filled with useless or harmful supplies (those coil UVB bulbs and red/blue bulbs should be banned), and really should be avoided at all costs.

The stores in my area have decent care for reptiles. Things like geckos on sand, somewhat dirty cages, cohabitating ball pythons that are all obviously bad but the cages are decent size for temporary displays with proper temps, humidity, and hides. That said even if the care was top notch I wouldn’t buy an animal from them because, as you said, many of them source the animals from animal mills. We do buy supplies and feeder insects there because there isn’t a better alternative close to us, sadly. I’ve seen small, non-chain pet stores with stellar care but sadly have also seen ones with much worse care than the chain ones (who also source from mills) so you really do have to check store by store, ask questions on where they source the animals, etc. Sad state of things. Personally I prefer buying my reptiles/exotic pets from established, trusted breeders. Or a rescue.

Pet smart should allowed direct reviews on line with out been censored. Last week I had extrem bad experience with my puppy at Pet Smart Canada in Newmarket Ontario. I took my 7 month old puppy for grooming,we had an evil inexperienced groomer her name is Laura she took my puppy shitzu Maltese with very long fur with out even touch him from the other side of the counter she told me that will be extra $25 for de-matting him. I was very upset since I knew this dog having long fur and been maintain brushed in the daily base ,I said you won’t need to worry he don’t have any mats then she open the gate put the leash on him he let her with no problem at all ,he follow her to the back. Before she took him in I put him on the counter and show her from the length of about 4-5 inch how long the silky fur was to take about 1 inch, not to touch his ears since last time they trimmed them quite short. She asked me about the tail ,I said just trim to look proportional with the rest of the body after taking off the 1 inch and I like him with long fur…he is freaking Maltese not hod dog. He was having good time with a colleague in the back when I stepped in so she came in the front having fun and laughing so she didn’t paid attention to all I told her. She took puppy in the back and said in 3-4 hours will be done and I’ll call you. I had a very bad feeling and start shaking… after 4.5 hours I called the store they didn’t answered ,10-15 min insisting the manager picked up the phone, he went in the back and came back on the phone saying that she is having hard time to do him because he is very aggressive. This dog LOVE bath,no problems with drying and brushing him so I was shock I immediately said she must have done something to him, he didn’t said anything. I said why she didn’t called me to come and get him if she can’t handle him and she must have done something. I run to the store to get him,I found my dog groom 3-4 inches off so she left only 1 inch on,she trimmed his ears one longer other much shorted ,the back legs bottom half very short and the to- one left longer then the rest on the body of 1 inch ,not groom at the genital parts middle of the body shorter then front and back…it did looks like butcher by the groomer and you could see the stroke of the scissors in levels like steps. I was shacking almost crying ,she charge me extra for brushing, for defatting and special handling? I paid and left because I had to be already at work and been late bc she didn’t finished him. After took him home and left for work ,when I return home I realize the UNPROFESSIONAL job she had done so crying I called the store manage. The same one that picked up the phone earlier, I start telling him all my concerned and the way she groomed him and complained why she didn’t contact me if she had hard time with him instead to be greedy and do the job just to be paid? I told him that I’m positive she abused him in case if is true that he was aggressive,he didn’t said anything. Not sure if they have video cameras with sound in the back to proves my suspicions. Couple days later I gave him a bath, this dog love bath and water ,we had to buy swim jackets because in summer he jumped in the pool and play with water ball so he is not afraid of water. As soon as I put him under shower head he starts to freak out and bite my hands that he NEVER EVER did it before as soon as I touch his back he started to be aggressive. Instantly I realized she burned him with hot water when she gave him a bath , if she was using thick gloves she didn’t felt how hot the water is and probably she didn’t adjust pre water pressure so the combination of both she abused him so then having the skin “cooked” she couldn’t dry him and groom him because the skin was too sensitive. I filed complaint on Petsmart.com a week ago, absolutely no one contacted me… if abusing him was not enough ,I asked her what have she done to him,why she cut him that short ,ears trimmed when I said not to touch them… so she told me not to bring him back ever un;es I trained him. Ironically she just completed the first training as puppy at the same location. Telling me not to bring him back there ,that infuriated me . PLEASE IF YOU HAVE A PUPPY IN NEWMARKET area DO NOT TAKE YOUR PUPPY THERE unless you want to be traumatized and have to work out for long time to make him to trust you or anyone to give him a bath, brush or trim. I tried to write a review but pet smart don’t allowed to review service direct on line, probably all those reviews are fabricated and posted behind the site by IT department. Neither week later no one follow up my complaint. I’ll take her advise and not to take my business ever to them even when this location was my store since they opened up in Newmarket 15-20 years ago and we had other dogs groomed there. My puppy has been groomed very first time in Canada ,second time in USA and third time and last time in Canada. We had 2 other shitzu before that has been groomed at pet smart canada and many time in USA and I can tell the grooming it is much better quality in USA and they take care of your pet with much love then in Canada. Not sure it’s because of paid and benefits but definitely service it is less quality here in Canada .
