I’m 81,, and my mother was born in 1905. I have one photo of my grandmother, taken about 1910, with the typical white lacy blouse and dark coloured walking skirt. Her hair was put up almost exactly like yours.

All you need is a dainty porch table set with a pitcher of lemonade, some glasses and cookies.

I am very impressed. I love such dresses, hairstyles, shoes and hats. One feels much more womanly with many petticoats. There used to be no off-the-rack clothes, they were fitted to the body. Wearing luxury custom made clothes. No plastic in the fabric, only cotton, silk or wool fabrics. Thank you for this wonderful video. Warm greetings from Germany

A white skirt dragging along the ground would gather dirt. How frequently were the petticoats and outer skirt and bodice washed? Would the clothes have been forced through a mangle, or would they have been drip-dried? I love your White Sands Dress and the Swiss waist. You show very clearly the use of hip pads and S-bend corset to end up with a curvy figure. What a clever illusion!

Did you make the hat?

Sort of? :) It's just a plan straw hat that I added some fabric, ribbons, and flowers to. So I guess I decorated it but didn't make it, if that makes sense!

Beautiful such an elegant dress. It's sometimes hard to believe that my (b. 1971) Grandmother (b. 1889-d. 1967) got dressed like this. And the change she and others like her saw happing, in her lifetime, to how ladies dressed. 🤔 Don't Americans 🇺🇸 have other names for these historic time periods? Instead of refering to them by the, then, ruling 👑Monarchs in 🇬🇧? Just curious...😊✌🏻. Greetings👋🏻 from 🇳🇱 The Netherlands.

We sort of do, but it depends on the time period! "Victorian" is still pretty common and there isn't a direct correlation to the "Edwardian" era (the Gilded Age is kinda close but not as specific) so I always still find myself using the British nomenclature 😅

Beautiful work. I understand it takes a while to get dressed in this fashion, but would be awesome if it wasn't such a rarity in today's world. It's just so elegant a d respectful.
