This is all the modern perception of an ancient plant that we used to have a much better relationship with I think. Opium poppies have a reputation made far worse by all of the modern isolates and derivatives of those isolated molecules. The whole plant, in its raw state, is a GREAT food+medicine, that is actually highly beneficial to health and quality-of-life when respectfully/wisely used! There is a lot more going into this, and even the whole theater/phenomenon of "withdrawal symptoms" from the modern forms is due to tertiary factors like our "fallen", pathological physical condition, parasitic phenomena, etc... and is not so inherent to either ourselves as human beings, or the medicine in its original plant form. It also requires no fancy extraction, as the active alkaloids and other beneficial constituents are water soluble and already present throughout the plant in it's milky-looking fluids, throughout its growth cycle, at increasing concentrations as it matures, but always present. The plant can be treated like a sort of vegetable and chomped down on literally, or juiced/blended and strained to remove the fiber and just have the alkaloidal green juice. Tea can be made from dry plant material. It was designed to be accessible, but humanity is mostly estranged from all of this currently. I know it's controversial, but I earnestly believe these things, from experience. 💗 There are plenty of institutions interested in controlling our access to medicines of great interest to humanity, and acting as gatekeepers, ultimately stripping a perfect medicine down, manipulating it, and not even giving us the original healing power.... disastrous and unnecessary. I fear the potential dangers like anyone else, but those dangers have been seriously distorted, exaggerated, and/or misconstrued, and probably further obscured by the dangers associated with, again, the modern derivatives, of which Fentanyl has to the be the pinnacle of perversion 💔
