The plaintiff says she hired the defendant to renovate countertops at her salon, but she did a bad job and left sticky resin and sharp corners. She’s suing for repair costs. The defendant insists she did a fine job, and the plaintiff still owes her money. She’s countersuing for the remainder of her fee.

As a resin , art lover and worker, it is never good to use left over resin when you are charging premium charges. Sticky resin means is not fully cured and it takes at least 8-24 hours between coats to fully cure to the touch and this is when you use premium fast set resin . I am glad the whole place didn’t go off in flames.

@PanchiLee
@PanchiLee Жыл бұрын
Resin is a mix of 2 liquid parts, it HAS to be mixed thoroughly for it to harden completely, once it's fully hardened you can't really re-melt it from what I know. Not being mixed well could cause it to not fully cure and cause the stickiness. The kind of resin could've been her downfall as well. As resin cures, it heats up quite significantly on its own. If you use fast-cure resin on a project this big in one single layer, it would've over heated and warped which perhaps caused lifted corners and the bag-snagging.

It's easy to think you know what you're doing, but there's a difference between improving your own surroundings and changing to improve a client's surroundings. Resin should never have been used near items that produce a lot of heat. Sometimes you need to pay more money to have things done right.
@vickyserr

I would have awarded the plaintiff all of her money back. Her workmanship is horrible!! The resin clearly wasn’t done correctly, and the upholstery is horrible. She didn’t wrap the material underneath, she folded it outward, and glued down some ugly sequins that are going to fall off really soon. I love that the defendant actually had the nerve to counter sue because she feels her work is worth more than she charged, lmao. The woman is delusional!!! You can’t get high quality pay for low quality work.

The plaintiff is lucky her shop didn't catch fire. Resin spilling behind the dryer is a fire hazard waiting to happen. Also, judges always make a big deal out of people paying for services upfront. The plaintiff had a $130 balance, after paying 100% of he labor upfront, and the judge grilled her like she was in the wrong for withholding money. It's baffling. And that was a shotty job AT BEST.

Terrible idea, she wanted the work done on the cheap and that's exactly what she got!!!!

I called Amazon and they said to keep it, and they'll contact the person waiting for the package to send them another one. We looked up the address, which was just a few houses down, and my husband took the box there and handed it to them. Inside was a lamp and heater for a reptile habitat I guess, which we wouldn't of needed anyhow.

We should be paid for pain & suffering through this case. That was some sub-standard work. But that's what happens when you hire bottom-of-the-barrel talent. Hope the plaintiff learned a lesson. Defendant needs to get her skill level increased big time! Practice and practice some more at home and then do free, small scale countertop work a few times for homes that are getting flipped / renovated, etc. Take loads of pictures/video of your work too. It's called "honing" your skills. Why?? Because you can't go around charging Big Dollars for 25 cent work no matter how much labor you put into your task. See how much money you lost in the end here??? I applaud your efforts as a young woman and you will get better *With Practice & Time.*

Build up the layers and cure in between each so the bottom layer is "cured" BEFORE you add the next. This is basic for even small resin work and large jobs like a counter top are really a different technique altogether. It's also possible that the ratio of the two part epoxy was mixed wrong. It's also possible that the sequins altered the mix. Another factor would be the instability of the original surface. Was it prepared first by sanding etc. She actually admitted forgetting to sand the corners. Very amateur of them both. As Judge Marilyn would say "The cheap often comes out expensive" .

As A Artist Resin has too cured each Resin as a specific cure time.. Then it needs to be dried untouched by the specific instructions on whatever resin was used... If the would have used the correct Resin For the purpose it was gonna be used and Let it dry and cure for correct time and always if it’s a commercial job that’s gonna be high traffic you should allow double dry and cure time .. This way you are protecting the product done and protecting yourself on doing a quality job... Listening to the testimony of the owner she was demanding it to be finished in two days I would never have accepted that job first not enough time second I want my work to be perfect and they no way for resin to be ready in two days for a commercial job... The Resin is still soft underneath, Customers placing purses , items anytime with weight on that resin job is gonna stick to the resin ... Second abuse ...Abuse is by customers not intentionally but dragging their arms sleeves jewelry as watches, bracelets, tote bags, purse and more causes the chips... Last but not least this was a 2 week job and that was pushing it , I would have never agreed with the business owner on 2 days ... NEVER... if she wanted a new counter she should have went with something to take abuse that was not Resin.... In a commercial business you need products that’s gonna take high traffic... Resin will but not a 2 day Job... The defendant took on a job she didn’t know what she was doing of so it would have never looked as is and she would have refused a 2 day completion... Terrible, Terrible Job..

Just because an old acquaintance did something for her daughter doesn't mean they can do professional interior design correctly.. 🤔😕🧐 Education and experience is essential..Resin is chemistry and materials science blending correctly...You pay for what you get....The 3D wall art is just gaudy....

Unrelated to this case: The plaintiff is beautiful, and that mural of her does not do her justice. It makes her look like a man with a mustache.

That counter job is a complete mess. Always do business with a professional and never with friends or relatives. Apparently, Amazon varies based on where you live. I've had this happen to me much too frequently because I live in the DMV. I called Amazon and inquired about having a driver pick it up. I was informed that they don't do that and will send the recipient another package. Because I'm so busy, I'll only deliver the package to a nearby neighbor. There have been packages delivered that I would need to drive there and use GPS to locate. Heck no, I'm not employed by Amazon. They are crazy, in my opinion, for not picking up the delivery.

You get what you pay for. Actually she over paid for a job done by a non professional. The defendants reaction to some of these comments 🤣 😂 so animated 😆

On the case, I really didn’t care for the glitter resin countertops, but that’s just my opinion. The flowers on wall were pretty, but I agree with Plaintiff, the Litigant overdid those & end up looking tacky!! A few would have been elegant!!
