If you've been in a long-term relationship, have you ever stopped caring about your appearance, listening closely to your partner, or going out of your way for them?

I feel like there's a difference between getting COMFORTABLE and being LAZY... sometimes it's ok to let your hair down and show your partner who you REALLY are but don't get to a point where you don't take care of yourself & you basically don't recognize who you are ! And I'm sure your partner loves ALL of you but please take care of yourself not only for your partner but for yourself ! 💕

I define lazy as is someone who doesnt put effort in the relationship anymore. Whether thats dates, sex or emotional support. Now that's Lazy to me. All the other stuff like not shaving, grey hair, gaining some weight, or not wearing makeup... that's just being a human and its natural.

See if you can work on your mood and your satisfaction with your life, surround yourself with uplifting people, if you feel good, you'll make your look match it... School can be very stressful. @@latishal.8142 Good for u. I dont dispute that some women are comfortable with their natural hair. I doubt any of those women would trade in lustrous Asian hair for African hair and that is really real.

@zora99ny 5 жыл бұрын
O Fletcher don't project your issues onto all African or black women. I personally don't think Asian hair is "lustrous," it's just thin and only looks good when it's straight, can barely hold curls or braids. African hair is versatile and can look great in about 30 different styles.

Every relationship is different. I like to look good all the time for my beau. I feel it’s so important to keep it fun and alive and always have him find me attractive. Even when I don’t where makeup I still smell good I’m shaved and my hair is maintained. Just because you’re comfortable in a relationship doesn’t mean let yourself go you know. Do it for yourself. I feel good when I know I look good or at least I’m fresh you know. You don’t need makeup or high fashion clothes to look good and be maintained and fresh. 😌🙏🏼

B. Griff seriously. It’s so upsetting to see women commenting saying my husband loves me and I’m not shaved he’s lucky if he catches my hair done. So sad. But everyone isn't you though. Everyone doesn't maintain the way you do. This isn't at all a put down but it's not "sad" just because someone is happy in a way that's different from you.

Lunar Duchess hey. Not judging anyone but I see girls or women commenting my husband is lucky if my hair gets washed in a week or if I shave or if he sees me looking good. It’s not about looking like a model it’s about self maintenance all I’m saying. It’s important to care for your relationship. Hygiene is important it’s one thing to not care how you look but to not care how you smell or how you maintain your hygiene that’s just a little messed up. I guess I’m crazy for caring about my hygiene and appearance to keep my relationship alive. 😬

Also, y’all keep regurgitating the same “protect and cover” part....protect and cover from WHAT?? And why does no other race of women have to “protect and cover” their natural hair???
@Thesilentvoice...
@Thesilentvoice... 5 жыл бұрын
La La La Black women don't wear their hair for two reasons: 1. It's hard to maintain an afro. Our hair texture is more coarse and kinky than a white or Asian person. You have to braid it, section the hair and use the right products for our hair not to break. A white/Asian person hair texture is just straight so it doesn't tangle as much. That's why black women wear wigs, weaves, braids etc because if they keep their real afro out without treating it properly our hair will break off. Are you Black? If not that's a reason. Black hair is the hardest to maintain, they contribute to 80 per cent of the hair market. 2. Afro hair has been made fun of in the media and society for years. Don't act like you don't know that and if you don't you need to open your eyes. In the media, Eurocentric beauty standards for women are pushed to the nod (straight hair, light skin, being skinny/thin, being tall, being racially ambiguous etc). That's why you see black women wearing weaves a lot. I don't think they should be wearing fake hair all the time as a substitute of their afro hair, but many black women get judged all the time at first glance just because of the stereotypes in society. Also, more black girls are embracing their natural hair now, it's not all of them but many have stopped wearing weaves. Other races don't say they protect their hair because society approves of it. Having straight hair is the trend/standard. Whenever someone wears an afro people make fun of them. There are stories of students who were told to change their hair or they couldn't go back to school because other students complained of it being too huge. At work, the employers complain the afros don't fit the work standards. They only want straight her which is ignorant and wrong since not everyone's hair is straight. Its the same as someone having a unique ethnic name. Society tends to judge you if you have a different name than the standard name (etc Shakiya vs Lisa). An employee always hires the person with the normal name (in society standards) over the applicant with an ethnic name without considering who can do the job. That's why people use fake names, or legally change it to receive work. It's not right but what are they supposed to do? If you were shamed for something you are born with by society wouldn't you try to hide it off out of embarrassment so you can fit in? It's wrong but there's a reason why its happening. Every race of women wear weaves not only Black women. It's just that black women wear weaves that don't suit their hair texture. A white lady would wear straight weave that fits her hair colour and texture (straight) that's why you don't notice. You sound very ignorant and rude in your comment.

The right man will not care. I don't shave that often too because it is honestly too much work. My boyfriend is constantly rubbing my legs, or trying to, and I'm like stop lol. He finds me naturally beautiful with no makeup on, and my natural hair. Hold on to the one who accepts you for you, and allow you to be comfortable. I feel bad for the one's who are always having to dress, and act like they're going on their first date with their significant other all the time. I know a lot of women who have men trying to fix them, or wanting them to look a certain way. Yes, I believe both people should look nice every now and then, but don't expect that all the time.

I have to speak up against the way society is always belittling a natural look...going gray is a natural process, fine if a woman doesnt want to do it perfect but don't categorize it as a downer...there are tons of gorgeous women who shine their tinsel with pride...not wanting to shave.....many women don't, many women barely even have a chance to show their legs, if women love doing it to feel confident perfect but again.....don't belittle a way of being such as natural as something negative to look down upon.....a person can feel good in sweats (not broken or dirty but a clean even stylish decent pair) gray hair (combed, brushed, styled decently and kept clean) no make up ( take care of your skin instead of hiding behind makeup) as long as a woman is clean, healthy and comfortable and a good person, a good woman, a good partner, a good mom, a good relative, a good co worker.....then the daily costume shouldn't matter, or be a preferred way of being ok with themselves. After 2 kids and now pregnant with twins my husband loves and embraces the changes my body has been through. And he respects the fact that maybe sometimes I don't feel like shaving. He's told me himself he don't even notice because he thinks I'm beautiful no matter what. And all women deserve a man that won't make them feel like they need to do these things to feel beautiful.

Adrienne is annoying in this clip. Just how she reacted after Loni read the question and Tamera made that face. She acts like she is this angel of a wife in every aspect. Which she may very well be, but no one is perfect and the way she acts as if all of this is "wack" is kinda low key crazy to me.

It was relevant though. Lots of women start slacking off in their relationship after they have kids because they are sooooo demanding. It is like telling a single professional to stop talking about their job and their dating life. Not gonna happen.

Now I’ve lost most of it and in the process of losing more so I’m back to dressing up! But the struggle was real for a minute (a long minute).

It is so sad that we don’t want to show our true beauty. I am so happy that when I met my husband the first thing that he did was strip me of all the unnecessary European influences, he then ignited a spark and the queen exposed, locs, thick brows, Brain and a body to match, proud to be Egyptian Nubian, raceless, and a QUEEN.

I’m a stay at home mom and my daily outfit is leggings and a T-shirt. I’ve talked to my husband and asked him if it bugs him or if he would prefer if I was wearing jeans and had my make-up done. He told me he doesn’t really care. He told me “You’re home taking care of our 2 yr. old, you do the cooking and cleaning so you wear whatever you feel comfortable in and is flexible” then he turned to me and said “I love it when you wear leggings cause it makes your butt look great”

Declining in personal hygiene could also be a sign of depression. That is important to know, that way you are aware of what you're partner may be going through. Often it can be because of other priorities, but it sometimes means that that person has lost interest in caring for themselves. Food for thought.

Loni, sounds like that man is interested in you. Sounds as if he wants to know you as you truly are physically. He knows that somewhere under that wig and accessories is the actual you and he wants to see that. That says a lot! Most times in order to have an authentic connection with anyone you are truly interested in, it takes them giving up their comfort zone and shedding some insecurities or uneasy, awkward feelings, and in your case it's a wig... Always, always be true to yourself, remembering not to forget to share who you are entirely so that the "interested person" can gain a greater understanding and make his own assessment of "you". Let him see the "real" you.

As a mom of 4 and married for over 20 years now you do get lazy and than you find yourself looking across that room asking who they are! So always remember your kids are going to grow up and move out and whose left behind? You and your partner! So in my opinion don't ever get to comfortable and take your partner for granted because it might just back fire in the end!
