Ice48 omg congratulations! Most girls don’t like the attention they get from the audience. I wouldn’t want a public proposal as well. I believe having a proposal in a private area makes it more intimate/special and more about you two, whereas public proposals make it more about the public. I hope that helps!

First thing, we put God first. We pray together, we go to church together. You gotta have that trust. When we disagree about something, we talk it out instead of arguing, and we come to an agreement. Everybody marriage is different, and everyone are going to have different problems. whatever problem you have, never go to bed angry with each other. Pray about it and talk it out. Arguing doesn't get you anywhere. We spend time together, but we also give each other space. My husband parents have been married for 63 years, now that's a blessing 😊.

@Jenna P nope, not necessarily. Especially if you're getting married during peak season, when a lot of dates have been snatched up. If you're doing the whole scha-bang, the wedding dress alone takes a minimum of 6-8 months to prepare. Plus, weddings are expensive. It's not unreasonable to take over a year if it takes you that long to have the money saved up for the various deposits you'll make over time.

I’ve been with my fiancé for a little over four years. We got engaged on our four year anniversary and we plan to get married on our 6 year anniversary. We decided on a long engagement to have time to plan and to save up (we’re both 21). Two years may seem like a long engagement to some, but we both felt that it was the right amount of time. Even though it’s still a year and eight months away, we talk about the wedding daily and are saving up. I think your engagement can be as long as you feel works for you, as long as both parties are in agreement. Plus, the engaged part of a relationship is super fun and I’m just enjoying all that goes along with it. 💕

I was 22 when I got engaged, 4 months shy of 23. We got married when I was 25 (2 months after my birthday). So the engagement was about 2.5 years long. But, we lived in different states until 8 months before the wedding. Once we lived in the same location, planning went into over drive. Money was partially a factor. We paid for our own wedding out of pocket, without going into debt. I did all the cooking and decorating and everything. I even did my own wedding photos (hello timer and tripod)...and they turned out great, btw. Sometimes there are legitimately reasons for a longer engagement. For me, I just wanted some sense of commitment since we had already been dating at the point for close to 5 years when he proposed.

Finances can also dictate wedding plans though. Even if you're both ready for it, even a small wedding costs money. I think the proposal should come with a rough timeline, though, and concerns like paying for the wedding should all be mentioned early if not at the same time. Some people do have long engagements because they're saving up for the wedding rather than because someone isn't ready.

My wife and I actually planned our wedding before we were “engaged” I couldn’t find the ring she deserved and so I wanted to wait to make it official until then but we planned everything. The colors the flowers the venue she went dress shopping everything. Then I bought the ring and proposed and we got married 6 months later because everything was planned and it was just about getting everything paid for and set up. Buying the decorations and the invitations and all that but if it had been up to her we would’ve gotten everything set up gotten engaged and then gotten married the next day. But I told her we needed to give other people time to situate themselves and plan if they were coming or not and buy wedding gifts and all that.

Ladies take it from a man point of view, if you are in a relationship for 2 to 3 years and he is still trying to figure it out, he is not the one. He is only there for the Cookie, "Why Buy The Milk When The Cow Is Free" Do you understand ladies, I can see if you are taking time to save money for the marriage, but it doesn't take 3 years to do so ladies. We as men know and it's not going to take 5 years, we will definitely know within 2 years.

I agree with you 1000000000000000000% they made it look like no one should look at Jeannie, disagree with her, just to name a few? Even Jeannie said Tamar is the only that keeps it real with me off camera and these ppl they still find things to say.
@clarke44008 жыл бұрын
And thats why I prayed for Jeannie to leave the show. Her fans Calling Tamar out of her name etc. I am so glad the tamartians trolled her ass on social media.The Maiticks fans have been doing it from season 1, so her being dragged on social media, it served her flat ass right ‼️‼️
@aaronb22468 жыл бұрын
So what happens to the "You Tried It" and "Lies You Tell" segments? Do they give Tamar back all her intellectual properties? Do they keep using her lingo as titles on KZfaq videos, Instagram posts and Facebook statuses? Her creativeness made up roughly a nice portion of the show, and lets be honest, they capitalized off it.
@zora99ny8 жыл бұрын
Tamar should trademark her catchphrases.
@umar6090408 жыл бұрын
She owned those trademarks way before this show.
@ImJerkBoii8 жыл бұрын
A lot of gay mannerisms come from black women though. Slang phrases like "You tried it," "Lies," and "Shade" and all that comes from gay culture. But tongue smacking and what a lot of people call "acting ghetto" come from black women.
@ImJerkBoii8 жыл бұрын
***** I did not say ghetto behavior comes from black women. I said behavior that people consider "ghetto" come from black women. Slight - yet important - distinction. Ghetto only has a negative connotation when it is given one. I was simply using it to indicate the behavior in a way that most could understand. What I should have said to not confuse - and am saying now - is that Tamar (and effeminate gay men) act in the typical fashion of SOME black women who are typically from the hood, who act in an "exaggerated" manner. Think Sheneneh from Martin. Gay men (and Tamar by extension) portray a caricature of the "ghetto black woman." That caricature includes a lot of tongue smacking, eye and neck rolling, snapping, etc.

This is the first time I'm hearing women doing that, so it's probably rare, but I don't know. Men tend to propose just because they want her to shut up about it and want to keep her around without the commitment but women tend to be more serious about it.

I am in my late 20's and got engaged a year ago. I wanted to enjoy my engagement. I personally was in shock because my fiancé proposed to me after we dated for 9 months. We have been friends for over 10 years and he's my best friend. Our wedding is in 6 months. When we got engaged I waited a few months before I even started planning. We are a long distance couple and it is hard but we are making it work and coming together.

Jeannie never wanted to marry Freddy. She was never in love with him the things that she said on the show like she wasn’t ready. She wasn’t excited 😆. Things you would say out of context like marriage is hard marriage is so hard like it’s obvious it wasn’t meant to be. I’m pretty sure it’s not supposed to be that hard. Not to mention the awkward moment when Freddy told everybody that Jeannie is not sexually attracted to him.

I met my husband in college. We were together for a long time before we got engaged. I wanted him to propose after a year of us being together but at the time we were living in different states. I was surprised the long distance thing worked. It was when we celebrated our five year anniversary when I started to get impatient. I knew I didn’t want to be a girlfriend forever. I wanted the ring and everything to follow. He proposed when we got our house and I was like, “FINALLY!”. We planned our wedding in six months and got married that same year. We’re almost three years in and he’s still putting up with me. So I’d call that a win. If dating is the game then marriage is the prize.

Once again, I agree with Jeannie. I wish she would've expressed my feelings on Weddings, in general. Y'all know how expensive Weddings are? I understand I can have a small Wedding, but I want the people I love there. I've been engaged for three years, now and still not in a hurry. IK he ain't leaving me, and the term "husband" is merely a title, anyway. The contract just legally binds us, together. Besides, my relationship is my business, anyway. We're happy and share the same feelings. When we get married, we get married. I'm in no hurry to rush to get there.
@marier15428 жыл бұрын
its true if youre certain in your relationship there's no need to rush. i think ppl rush to get married after the engagement bcus theyre afraid the other person might change their mind or go astray, but thats not a good sign either! the only thing is , if something happened to the person (like death) i guess the partner's biggest regret would be that they never got the chance to get married.

I got engaged at 18! Now I’m 20 and going to finish university before planning a wedding. And on the small ring note, mine is super tiny but I love it because it reminds me of how we had nothing, sleeping on the floor of our apartment because we couldn’t afford a bed, using coupons for food and couldn’t pay our bills all the time, and we still managed and pushed through ❤️ been together 4 years total with 4 dogs now!

I think people are confusing a long engagement with just a total waiting period. If you are planning a wedding for a few years in the future, that’s great because you’re still planning. But if he proposes and then doesn’t want to start planning at all and it’s just totally in limbo, that makes no sense.

I don't even like Jeannie(all can throw shade I don't care). She has more segments on this show then all the girls combined (including Tamar) .Whenever she has a hat on and something funny happens she always takes it off and swings it around. Did she ever think about hitting munchkin before she moved by tamera. I have more 2 say but I don't have time for grown people to be in the feelings. I always listen to Tamar music just so I can feel better about Tamar leaving TheReal. &That's #TheReal. Like if your a #Tamartion.

We don't know what happens behind the scenes so everyone needs to stop assuming things that they don't know are true or not. My issue is that we finally had a show that placed intelligent, talented and fun women of colour in the forefront and the show was gaining a lot of success. In this industry in order to stay successful people, especially people of colour, can't afford to experience controversy. This is a unique show in terms its diversity, I would just hate for it to be over because of the recent controversy.

@@yazminfrances thank you for the article. It really does clarify alot of my questions about her leaving. Speaking as a black women in America the article was right about her stereotypical behavior that many black women try to stray away from. She was also very insecure in my opinion and for some reason did not favor anything that Jeannie Mai had to say. Always trying to bring an old style of black women that just didnt fit.

Gonna miss you TayTay especially for segments like these... I don't know how the producers could just sit in a conference room, discuss the upcoming season three and decide that Tamar was the one they wanted to eliminate immediately... Especially when she's the life of the show! I loved watching because it was different from all the other boring talk shows I've seen. These women helped me get through a break up during the pilot season... Helped me learn to love myself again during the first season and since then I have been following these women and watching this show. I am not a Tamartian but I like Tamar and respect her opinions a lot. Yes she may have an 'out there' personality but that's what I love about her. She doesn't conform to what society thinks she should be. She's herself and if she has to get fired for being herself on the show then The Real wasn't real after all. Love you TayTay and I wish you all the best pumpkin schmunkin xoxo ☺
