It takes a lot of time to renovate 😳 My youngest daughter and I live in a tiny house from 1961, we decided we wanted to get a new kitchen and we would do the most work ourselves. Oh boy it was hard, we didnt know ANYTHING about renovation at all, we looked at KZfaq, Google etc to try to learn a bit but boy we made a lot af errors 🙄 It took 3 months to renovated the tiny room and we DONT want to renovate more rooms(but we need to do it one day) You will get your house finish one day, just believe in it 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

You have to get rid of all that concrete, Ryan. All it does is trap moisture behind it and cause major issues. I am hoping that cavity will be a window to the property behind, keeping my fingers crossed. Talk to your neighbours and make arrangements for days you want to do work. You might be surprised at how interested they would be and what skills and ideas they have to offer. You need to have a regular schedule and treat it as a job. You are project manager, occupational health & safety, labourer, designer, carpenter, stone mason, and so much more while doing this renovation. Well, off to join patreon, at least for a while, 9 Aussie dollars may not do too much on it's own, but every little bit helps.

Ryan. My dad started with 40 acres of swamp land in the mid 1970s. He worked full time and built his garage. Which he lived in for 20 years ( with a kitchenette and bathroom / laundry room) He carried water in from an artesian well for 15 years. He, over time, saved and built, saved and built, until he retired and by then moved into his home.. he sacrificed, with blood sweat and tears and year.. When he bought the land he paid $11K and when he died I bought it from the estate. It is now valued at over 500K. My point is that blood, sweat, and tears, with time, can produce a lifetime of joy, happiness, and an inheritance for your great great grandchildren...which now enjoy this home. Be blessed and enjoy the journey.

Your house has been closed up for so long that it has accumulated so much moisture in the stonework. I strongly urge you to find a large domestic dehumidifier to collect that moisture. You can connect them directly to a drain, so checking the water level daily is not required. There is much work to do at this stage that doesn’t require any or very little money, so don’t feel bad about not starting any reconstruction yet. It will all come in due time.

So, what if you went over and talked to them about what you're doing. Maybe you can get a feel for when it's a good time to work, when to start work for the day, end work for the day, things like that. Try to take a break during their rest times or tea times? Ryan, there’s no need to feel guilty about asking for help. As far as Patreon is concerned, people that can afford to if they want to. They can donate and people can’t can watch your ads not donate. It’s very hard when you can only renovate when you get money and that’s not so easy lol people have to realize that you can’t afford a lot of these things that you’re tackling and like some other people can. It’s great when someone comes and helps you but the rest of the time you’re alone and you’re basically inexperienced, so it’s very hard to do what you’re doing one mostly working alone. I don’t envy you! But will support your channel as best as we can! Good to see you back!

If I remember correctly, you and Nick were talking about framing up walls to attach your Sheetrock to. You can just frame the walls and attach your floor joists to the top of the walls instead of inserting them into the wall. This would keep them away from the moisture. Then install your sub floor and then your walls for the next floor up. Continue on up. I wish I were able to be there to assist you in this project.

You could show us more houses for sale, and take us on some tours of places. Even if you do not have the money right now, there is alot to clean up and rendering the stone walls is not that expensive. When you replace the floor joists, do one floor at a time. Work your way up, and put them in from under, adding the floor interlocking boards as you go up. Little by little. Bit by bit. You can do it! Do it up Ryan!!

The Brothers teamwork helps things along much faster! I would not mind donating money for your renovations whatever I can afford, like a one time payment and feel free to donate money later on. Little by little, you can do this! Once you reach 100K, YT monetary should start and they would help a bit. Yes, on the sponsors, and hopefully more will come and get you started. Can't wait to see what's behind that window, such neat stone work and brick work. Love the tea scenes between Nick and you, what a riot! 🤣🤣🤣

I really enjoyed the live shows that Ryan did previously. Can’t remember if the lives had ´super chat’ but that, and ´buy me a coffee, are good ways for folks to be able to do small one-off donations.

The fact that you are so concerned by the care of the elderly neighbors is another reason why I love you Ryan. That is from this older grandmother woman so not in a weird way. You are delightful and fun, been watching a long while now…. Keep moving along, every days work is a day closer to your home being ready to live in. It really does not matter when it gets done as long S you keep moving towards your goal. Great for Nick to give a hand soon. ❤❤❤😊

If anyone is going to be critical for Ryan starting a Patreon… he helps out other KZfaq channels and websites for free and is too humble to mention it. The channels he helps even have Patreon accounts. Please be nice to this young man because he has a huge heart. I look forward to each video Ryan! 😊

It is good in a way that you feel selfish, as you say, to do patreon because it shows what a wonderful, humble person you are. But at the same time, please don't feel selfish. KZfaq is your job in a way. You are working hard filming and editing, being creative, and renovating, and we are entertained by your videos and enjoy them. I am glad Nick will be back to work with you. It has to be hard working on your own, and you guys are so funny together. 😊

You are very thoughtful of your neighbors. I believe they would feel glad to have the house renovated and a nice young man like yourself living next door. But, as you mentioned the reno will be pricey. Where there is a will, there is a way. Stay strong, and well 🤗🙏💖

Ryan, love the suspenders. In the states, we have a clothing company that makes extra long tailed t-shirts that come in a bucket labeled 'crack putty.' 😅 Sponsors are a good idea. We don't mind much. Also, in addition to patreon, why don't you add a 'buy me a coffee' button? I don't have tons of funds to support everyone, but when I have a bit of extra cash, I don't mind sending some every now and then. One last thing -:talk with your neighbors. I remember in my twenties, being blissfully charmed by the elderly lady downstairs, when she arrived at my door with cookies and told me that she and her husband were very hard of hearing, so to be sure and ply my music just as loudly as I liked. ❤

Dude totally do a Patreon! It’s not selfish. You are creating entertainment AND people can choose if they want to support your project. You don’t have to decide for them! I am literally watching about 5 renovation projects every night. You are actually creating something of value and getting paid for it! This is awesome! Love to see you doing the next thing! 😊

Can I make a suggestion? Instead of arranging the rooms in the "standard" fashion, consider making the ground floor a bedroom (perhaps the guest bedroom) and the 1st floor the kit/LR/DR and THEN make the small addition roof an outdoor terrace (especially because the roof may need to be replaced anyway due to wood worm). This way, you would have greater privacy in both the main rooms (not visible thru the windows from anyone just walking by) and the main bedroom (the 2nd floor) and you'd get more light AND an outdoor area in the main rooms.

Patreon is meant to support artists. It doesn't matter if the art you're making happens to be KZfaq videos of a renovation on a house you bought for yourself, the point is that making art of any kind is work and if people feel good about paying you for your work making the art that they get to enjoy, then good!

@lifeofryan Can you get any grants, such as historical restoration given the age of the structure? And…Have you thought about focusing on replacing the roof first so it can assist in drying out any moisture issues? It was after all the cause of leakage right? If you are not afraid of heights, you and your friends could easily do this yourselves and save money. I would also limit removing stuff you don’t need to. It the plaster isn’t sounding loose, don’t force it. Saves money and saves your energy. I’ve been there… shop smart- look for clearance items and scan ads for surplus material for cheap sale. Keep up the good work! Remember you can do anything!
