Getting New HUGE Cages for our Biggest Snakes!

3 жыл бұрынToday we move our biggest snakes to the facility! Not into their display enclosures (those aren't ready quite yet), but into new 8' enclosures built by Kages, LLC! Zach, owner of Kages, has been a vendor at our reptile expos for several years. After seeing he quality of his cages first-hand, we decided to purchase five 8-foot PVC enclosures for our reticulated pythons and boa constrictors. We absolutely love how they turned out!

@Notthefallssorcererofbeto !2whyme A lot of chickens, and birds in general, dont like being pet because we secrete a lot of oils through our skin. These oils cause us to feel slimy, similarly to how frogs feel to us. Our skin oils can also clog tiny pores on a spider as well. I reccomend letting the bird/animal sit on/close to you and gently rubbing its beak or comb. Ofc this also depends on the animal and your relationship with it c:

I love how Emily baby talks even the biggest of reptiles. Both of you have such a passion for keeping all of these animals and rescuing others. This is the kind of job I feel I would enjoy the most! Also I’m sorry to hear about the loss of Popeye.

That should be a as needed time out room. I think those are needed everywhere. I know y’all are probably the best employers. It’s probably a fun place to work. Watching your videos always makes me smile. I love to see how much you love the snakes. I am NOT a snake person but find myself watching these videos and am enthralled by them and the interaction you have. I’m a dog person but if find that I am seeing such intelligence in these animals through these videos. Thank you for helping so many to learn.

Every time they’re about to mention about a snake passing, I start tearing up. I’ve been watching for a couple years and I feel as if they’re part of my family too. It’s so sad when a snake passes or has to be put down. I hope the rest of your snakes are healthy for a long time!

Well to be fair a hog striking doesn't do much. So it's common we don't try to curb that behaviour. A retic striking is a huge no no. And they re a sassy species as a whole and this is why they should never be trusted.My guess is they worked with them as babies when striking was not dangerous and got them handleable just how they are doing with tiny

Small predator animals have instincts to fight back against bigger predators, which most large animals don't have. Hence a full, fat, well-fed boa being friendlier than a young bull snake.

It's easy sometimes to forget how powerful snakes truly are. I have two ball pythons and a columbian red tail boa. I've had them all for over 10 years. A few years ago my bp mistook my hand for a rat and latched on. She wrapped around my wrist as well. The strength was insane, she's not a big snake either. Gave me new respect for their power.

@alex_enbee Sure he's big enough, snakes usually have the world to crawl whereever they want, not beeing stuck in tiny cages, so I'm sure he would enjoy little bit of extra space. Though I'm not saying Emilys cages are bad (I'm very impressed by her reptile care) and she's always making improvements too, this is some of the best you can so for captive kept snakes.

She's a Central American Motley boa and a morph. Both of which make them smaller than wild type boas. She will likely never get quite as big as the others. But she will eventually end up needing something about the size of the bullsnake racks. I just desperately want to see her again. 😭

Onyxia is going so well, Tyne! 🥰 She's a wonderful eater, and although a bit huffy some days, for the most part is great at handling! We've taken her out a few times to meet customers who ask about her, and everyone is always astounded by her beauty and iridescence! I'll try to find a way to sneak her into a video soon ;)

I think this should go by weight rather than lengths. To be fair i am too lazy to convert feet to meters but there are slender but very ling snakes. It's when weight comes in is when the big boys start rolling.

That’s a good rule,but should go by weight too…. 10-30 pounds 2+ adults,over 30 3+ adults…unless your very experienced like Emily and Ed but at least 2 adults with big snakes!

She’s one of the skinny girls that are actually stone when you get up close or touch em’. Dealing with reptiles all the time has definitely built up some compact muscles in her.

Tbh her built reminds me of my younger cousins, they look like string beans that could be blown away by a gust of wind but when you get close to them you see that they are hard and strong like stone(I mean they’re athletes so that makes sense, build up compressed muscles), so I’m assuming that dealing with reptiles almost all day(especially absolute units) has made Emily hard as stone too, we just can’t see it well on camera.

As someone who was blessed enough to see one of Emily’s educational programs at my local library knowing that Popeye has passed on is heartbreaking. He was so sweet and gentle with everyone and he will always be one of my favorite! At least he gets to slither in heaven peacefully! ❤️💛💛

I'm in absolute awe every time I see a video in the new facility because it's like...so hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that at some point most of (if not all) of the reptiles in the facility were once in Ed and Emily's actual house :o the house must feel so big/empty now!

Emily and Ed: I'm so sorry to hear of Popeye's passing. I was watching when you announced it. It shocked me so much, I had to comment. He was so fortunate to have such amazing people like you to care for him. When you and Popeye did your videos together, you entertained, educated and inspired everyone. You've shown that all snakes are not to feared but deserve our care and respect. Popeye was a wonderful snake and I will miss him. Emily and Ed: please keep making great videos, you deserve the best for all your hard work.

Oh my gosh, I miss Jupiter so much but I'm so glad she's found the best possible home! She's never been one for going where she's supposed to, though, so it didn't surprise me in the least when she didn't go in her cave right away. XD

I am super stoked Ed is finally a regular part of the channel and we get to "hang out" with him finally! We love you Ed and Emily!! These cages look great, bet you guys are glad to get everyone settled in but I bet the house feels extra lonely/empty but maybe kinda nice? 😉 can't wait to see the zoo! Aww Dougy boy! Boas are just so stinkin cute! Something about those little faces. 🥰 I have a Kages 4x2x2 for my Ball Python and its amazing! It holds heat and especially humidity SO WELL. I dont think its ever fallen below 75%. He’s thriving in it. Definitely worth the investment!
