Folders are great for those immediate events, like a wedding reception with specific requests... as Rachael pointed out. . I also create filters based on comment field key words and codes. Those are dynamic, and new music will show up in those as they match the filter. VDJ has a lot of awesome features, especially the new 2018 (v8.3) release. I look forward to more of these videos!

I do the same thing as virtual folders but I create sub list of the event then a playlist for each section of the event. Ceremony dinner etc.

Thanks for the tips, i wondered what those yellow folders were. And i would make a new HD folder for wed stuff, so many duplicates there now. This tip should clear some of that. Would like to see how to copy folders to backup computer. That's been a daunting task lately. Great vids appreciate them.

I try this in a different format for my niece bridal shower using virtual DJ and it works well for me. Label my intro, dinner, dance and just fun all around music

100% correct Rachel... I myself have been building a hard drive full of music since I started in 2001. Purging is a great idea with software that finds duplicates in various locations unless your like me and have a compilation or soundtrack folder. I am a little nuts when it comes to my folders... I just like stuff broken down a little more than say Dance 70's, 80's. If there is a certain soundtrack that I love such as Good Morning Vietnam which has some oldies songs that go over well I want to keep them there rather than the year from the oldies it came from. Only reason why is it's faster for me to have a folder called Good Morning Vietnam than creating a playlist or virtual folder with it in it... So yes music directories are a very personal thing however awesome job explaining how to do it for a beginner...

So where would you put slow jamz for the decades. I love this vid. This is my problem cause I’m very detailed. I have everything in folders and a lot of duplicates. Like decade folders and then club bangers 19, club bangers 20 but they are actual folders not virtual.

I am kind of a matter or fact kinda guy so I really like and respect your no nonsense approach. Keep it up. One thing you didnt touch on with virtual folders, and I actually do not know the answer to this, is how to back up virtual folders. Let's say one has been using virtual folders for years. But I wanna get a new computer. So how do I get a new computer, and DL virtual dj, then copy over whatever to make sure that all my years of hard work creating virtual folders are duplicated on my new system.

I live on the Filters... Using Comment codes with the filters are absolutely indispensable for me! That makes very dynamic and always updating version of a virtual folder. Codes for Line Dance, Catwalks, and various wedding related events are so easy to find. I don't need to trim what I carry, in case I do get that surprise request. . Using a virtual folder for a specific even't request list is fantastic, as Rachel mentioned. Play Lists work wonders. . Virtual DJ 8 is very versatile... At least two ways to do this type of thing, so pick what works for you.

Question. I noted. Ur music in ur hard drive is organize by genre and ocasion,, how u do that,, on my virtual dj 8. I search for a specific song. I never be able to find it,,, i have to search one by one.. very stressable,, knowing the song i searching is in my hardrive.. wmhow can i fix this?

First you have to lable the folders. On your hard drive how you want them, how they are labeled on the Hd , is how they will appear in VDJ. Then in vdj you have to add the hard drive to the search data base. When you click in vdj music area your hard drive and folders will show, but they still have to be loaded in the search data base. Hover over the hard drive and a pop up should come up with batch as an option hover over batch and select add to search data base. It may take a while to load them all. Every time you add a songs to a folder on your HD , go to that folder and add the batch to the search data base in VDJ. This is how I do it , and it works for me, there may be a easier way but I'm not a VDJ pro.

hardkore360 - 😂, I used to get asked for that desperate shito, not so much now, girls seemed to love it. First time I heard it, was when I had a hard dance set on, and decided to play Russian roulette with requests. Absolutely killed the vibes.
