Hi have had a machine for 6 years and have used Dryed Radiata pine chips which have the added advantage of acting as a anti-bacterial agent in the shed and use as mulch for trees when finished with .We are in Southland

Another kiwi here. North Canterbury. I also am on ,dorper sheep lamb watch. I watch 'Sandy Brock' she has an automatic lamb feeder she calls 'the nanny'. She has great tips for orphan lambs.

I really enjoy your videos and would love to know more of the "why". Why you do the things you do - like for this video .... what you vaccinate for, why you need a lamb feeder (why lambs need a feeder) ...... etc. Not sure if you are interested in adding more info for us know-nothing-non-farmer folks (assuming I'm not the only townie watching) but thought I'd just put it out there, will continue to watch regardless :)

Yep definitely. I do forget to explain somethings as it's second nature to me. Will do in the future.

An auto lamb feeder saves someone making up bottles everyday, x a many times a day and then them having to be washed. The lambs are taught to help themselves and the machine makes it up on demand. That’s of course if it is the machine I am thinking off otherwise we both might learn something soon. The lambs just need a quick lesson of how to get on the rubber tests. It may be a mobile one that he will use, time will tell. A great place for townies to learn the hard life of a farmer. My ewes get 5n1 before they lamb, but quite honestly I couldn’t tell you what it’s for, just that they best have it to prevent them getting something, isn’t that terrible that I am unsure. It’s possible it’s also good for the lambs in utro.

@@deedawson6074 I guess my question is more why lambs need a feeder in the first place - are ewes not good Mums, too many lambs per ewe, ewe mortality ... etc. I suspect its a combo of these and I've answered my own question 🤣

Love watching your videos. small comment, please have a think about audio balancing a little, when you shifted into the time lapse of making the wooden railings the music suddenly got real loud.

That's the neighbours. They have brought a block and will live in that until they build a house.
