When the car is cold in the morning and esp in winter where temp in some places are low or minus - its really important to let your car run and idle 2 mins is good then drive away slowly you don't want to rev up a car esp when its not reached operating temperature engine damage can result

Even upto 5 mins esp in really cold climates and car is ungaraged you start the engine and allow it to warm up wash the windscreen lock yr house etc the car is warmed up a lot more your car will thankyou for it esp if yr doing short stop start stop start aswell

Aref Eshghi WRONG! you should give it at least a minute for oil warm up and to circulate and then baby it until you reach operating temps or if your gonna hop on the highway immediately then give it five minutes. it will hurt the motor over time due to thermal expansion and oil flows better hot than cold. Cars being fuel injected just means that they won't stall out on startup like carburetors did because they can make necessary adjustments thru the computer or thru FITV (Fast Idle Temp Valve) that earlier cars had. A car being fuel injected doesnt mean your car is immune to cold weather, it just make it more drivable in colder weather without a hassle.

As a long time licensed aircraft engineer now retired, the right advice is to start the engine and drive gently away so the engine warms up in the first 100 yards or meters. It has always worked for me with even my classic motorcycle engines running 100 k miles between overhauls. Leaving the engine running is rude and showa o respect for your neighbours as well as displating your ignorance of mechanical facts. Also modern low viscosity synthetic oils improve the stuation.

It's always best to give your car a minute or more to warm up before you pull away, and 'then' drive low RPMs for a good 5 minutes until you get the oil up to operating temperature. Angle lmao doesn’t matter how old your car is the operating temp of oil is lower than what you’re ever going to get in a normal day so letting oil warm up and get through the block is essential. If you have a turbo car and don’t do this your turbo will fail early due to oil not reaching the turbo bearings before the turbo spools.

Well, considering it's a really dumb thing to complain about. Acid kills. A car noise won't. I have a neighbor who has a loud ass truck, and when I'm sleeping, he lets it run to warm up. I don't complain, because some cars are just loud. Not everyone can afford, or even has the time to go find the car they need, quickly, and affordable, but make sure it's quiet. I got lucky with my car.. but not every car is quiet. That's reality.

Imagine having hyprracusis, a disease that you cannot turn on or pff, that collases your tolerance to sound and makes it hard to live anywhere. Imagine the costs of moving often. Now imagining having a neighbor who makes noise daily. Noise that is louder to you than how "normal" people perceive it. Now imagine no treatment or cure for this.
