This makes me miss NM! Just back from my first time there and loved it, the people and the beauty of the land and mountains. I couldn't get over how the same sky and clouds I see could be so different and in ABQ couldn't get over the presence and beauty of the Sandia Mountains so utterly different from my part of the world. I would love to be back there and explore while never forgetting the Native Americans and their culture which flourished in this rugged and beautiful land, humbled by their connection and reverence to Mother Earth and her provision.

I have to be totally honest w/you in that I was on edge hearing you describe how your days were spent “listening to your gut” but you continued staying there.. I like your hiking videos - never too long. A perfect retirement in my book would be to hike a new trail every day. This video made me consider all the sunrises and sunsets I might see (that I really don’t see at home because of trees blocking them and just being indoors) would be an added reason to get an RV….sleeping out under big skies.

@@cboyle707 Yes, I would be out of there - noise pollution really bothers me, guns especially. We have an Audubon preserve that is adjacent to a shooting range and I rarely go there anymore because of it. I can’t imagine that it is healthy for the bird population either.

Oh Carolyn thank you for the way you phrased the addiction comment and it is so true. My husband who is now dead had an addiction problem after several surgeries and getting hooked on painkillers. He was not a bad person but there were things he did that were harmful but it was the drugs that caused it. Yes they can get desperate and do bad things but they are not bad people. Thank you!

Gorgeous sunset! And I felt the weird vibe as you were up on the mesa. It came rolling off the screen right after you showed the deep crevices in the rocks. Then the other stuff happened after. Glad Sadie is such a great watchdog. Maybe they had left their car and were creeping around. Moving was a good decision for sure. The bird was not an owl but a dove, a mourning dove. We have a ton of them in the woods behind the house, as well as a couple of different kinds of owls.

There is a good book called The Gift of Fear by Gavin de Becker that talks about not listening to your instincts and how that can be very dangerous. Yes, our senses pick up on things that we need to listen to and not talk ourselves out of feeling our instincts. I highly recommend this book.

Respect the Vibe! I've been saved by it many times in life. Once, I was leaving the restaurant where I worked, but it was still early evening and a lot of people walking along in groups and pairs, ironically...IMMEDIATELY next to a police station. I was just kind of blending in with the masses going along, but noticed two guys walking TOWARD the crowds, suddenly notice me, glance at each other, then do an about face behind me...(in a CROWD!) I immediately turned to a couple walking next to me and said "HEY, You guys!! I was looking all over for you!" When my followers hurriedly went on by, I murmered to the couple "Pretend you know me ", then rapidly explained after my followers had passed on. A second later, two cops come up facing us and ask me "Did you know you were being followed?" I told them "Yes, I saw them, that's why I turned and started talking to them", gesturing at the couple. The cops said it was a good thing I noticed in time and that they had, too. We'd been having problems in our city with servers getting jumped on the way to their cars after their shifts for their tips (and I was carrying a rolled up apron.) One might assume that the cut-through by the police station with lots of people around would be fairly safe in early evening, but I was prepared for some tourists to think I was a little goofy rather than disobey that Vibe!

Good to see you and Sadie again. I've been following your videos for about 3+ years. When I can't find you I get worried. Perhaps if you did them shorter, 15-20 minutes you could do them more often? Maybe one a week? You always do a great job, and I understand that takes a lot of work. I don't think any of us want to cut into your personal life. Give your puppy a BIG HUG, for me, mine just died. Take Care of both of you. AL

Alright Carolyn, the first time I visited New Mexico as an adult in 1995 with my ex-wife and daughter everything went perfectly. In 2010 we went back as a family of four and the vibe in Northern New Mexico was very different, like extremely creepy. I tell you what, I will never go anywhere near Chama again, or any place remotely close to it, because we all felt it. Now on to my Roswell story, a wonderful older couple I knew from 1959 to 1997 lived in Roswell when it all went down in 1947. Bill was out on a Scouting trip with his son's Troop when they came across a piece of very light debris with indecipherable markings on it. The military was hassling everyone in town who might know, or have seen anything. Bill not wanting to get in trouble with the authorities buried that strange metallic object in his yard in 1947. When I knew them we all lived in Orange County, California, and attended the same church, and it was impossible to find a more wonderful couple. Bill and his wife (name withheld) told us that story. and the one about being burned on the side of the face when a humming metallic circular craft went over them as they stood outside their home, i guess the aliens knew what they had taken. Anyway, if they were still alive they would be around 110 years of age. They told me the story back in 1994, and got to tell you, it was spooky because they were as straight laced as they come. One last thing, the vibe I got near Chama was humans being cloned, and housed in something akin to close quarter poultry cages.

Well as a NM resident I have heard some curious stories about Norte NM and while I have not gone to Chama it is nearby. There are too many stories from too many locals about government/alien activity in Norte to dismiss. People come to the Taos Gorge all the time and there are plenty or stories about that having alien activity. But really seems like not all alien life forces are hostile as well as plenty of the alien hostile forces running the country and world wide now.

I lived for 20 years in the Davis Mountains south of there and owned land in the Big Bend for an additional 15 years. Living there, I found out that, despite what we kids learned in school about snakes, anywhere the temperatures get above freezing, rattlesnakes are frequently active. Just be aware - I would hate to learn that you or Sadie have been bitten! The rock you wondered is shale is almost certainly Pecos "diamond."

If I were there I think I'd be on edge with the abandoned RV being used as a target (if they were shooting it), thinking what if they were drunk and got the RV's mixed up! The place was beautiful and I would have stayed and left before the weekend too, but the deep gut feeling that would be bothering me would be how they are used to shooting the abandoned RV and if they were drunk or stupidly looking for a new target with me sitting right there. It was very cool of the family to inform you and let you know their intentions and I would have felt comfortable if that was the norm of all the shooters. I'm like you, I don't fear easy or do the 'what if's' but still... that would be the cause of the 'on edge' feeling for me.

Like you, I would leave as well. Like you said the weekend was coming. Shooting would def scare me. Stay safe.

Sadie is so smart. I love how she will get in the shade of the RV when she gets too hot. She must realize that her black fur gets hotter in the sun.

Always enjoy your videos. You teach us a lot. However, sometimes they are a little long for me and I find myself fast-fowarding thru them. 20 minutes is about my time limit and interest level. Keep on traveling Carolyn!

I don't call them deal breakers, I call them wheel breakers. Oh, around 16 minutes in, the trailer, bullets, desolate area, i thought this was gonna turn into that movie " No Country for Old Men " . That would definitely change the plot somewhat. Anyways, I've always liked to imagine those areas hundreds of years ago, what it was like to see ALL that distance, and hoping you found water, and the LONG journey ahead. Be it on foot, horse, or with a mule.

You ask Sadie what she thought. She thinks there has to be some interesting creatures down in those rocks!😊

I like the hills and mountains so much more than flat land. I am always on the lookout for other boondocking camping spaces too, even when I am not camping. I don't do facebook and Instagram, seldom Pinterest. Morning Doves do sound like Owls a bit. Those first shots I would have been out of there. At least they stopped and told you they would be shooting. And then the song plays "I didn't sleep a wink last night, ...." Even the earth there doesn't look very conducive to life. I don't think you are paranoid. You keep telling us to listen to our weird feelings, and then stay there and just talk about it? And don't leave? You aren't even listening to Sadie? I have no desire to be near missile ranges, shooting ranges, military test sites. I mean why, when there are so many wonderful places? What does the rest of your shirt say? All I can see is "If you don't like me and..." I don't mind hunters as long as they eat what they hunt. Leave, then tell us your story!!! Why are you still there saying that you are listening to your gut and going to leave? Instead of having left? Please listen to yourself and your awareness! You have no clue you were safe. 3 shots in the middle of the night near you? There could be a dead person or animal from it. Yes, you are a sitting duck there. I am tempted not to hit the thumbs up! But I did
