In this tutorial I’ll show you how to make a three part skinner blend. I’ll only be using three colors, but you can use as many colors as you wish using the same technique. A skinner blend is a base technique that is used in many different techniques from mokume gane to canes. There are many ways to make skinner blends. So far I’ve shown how to make the most basic two part skinner blend. I plan to show other ways of getting skinner blends in the future.

Thank you so much for taking your time to share your knowledge! I have been watching tutorials for months with no success what so ever...and not understanding what people were trying to explain either. Until the past 24 hrs when I was fortunate enough to FINALLY come across your page! I actually just ran to Wal-Mart and purchased square cookie cutters and hoping to finally make a skinner blend and staying positive possibly even a cane!!! I am truly grateful! Thank you!

First of all, I love your videos. I'm a subscriber of yours, in fact. I've only been claying for a year or so, but your tutorials are incredibly helpful for developing new techniques. However, as I listen to your videos, I can't help but notice a strong room noise from the background. It's a tad bit distracting, unfortunately, because I love the content in your videos. I'm a music technology student in college in the United States right now, and I was wondering if you had thought about trying to use any kind of noise reduction on your audio. Ocenaudio is a program with a wonderful noise reduction feature that helps remove any pesky room noise, while leaving the rest of the audio virtually unaffected. Oh, and Ocenaudio is free. Thanks again for the wonderful content!

I finally convinced myself to start doing a skinner blend because I've been really afraid it's going to turn out horrible. While I was blending it each time I folded it over it kept getting skinnier and longer to the point where it was so wonky and I couldn't really fold it anymore. What in the world does someone do when that happens?? Is there anything to do? What did I do wrong? The sizes of the clay I felt were larger than the sizes here. Because it really confirmed my fears that I suck basically and any motivation any confidence I was trying to give myself to do this DIED at that moment lol. I keep trying to tell myself I'm new to this so nothing is going to be perfect, but I have a really hard time feeling good about myself or really anything I'm working on :\ anyway thank you for taking the time to read my comments. As always I absolutely love you videos thank you for taking the time to share you tips and tricks with us

I had a lot of trouble in the beginning with skinner blends. I practiced with leftover clay so that I didn't mess up my good clay. The stretching across the pasta machine was the worst. I do have a tutorial that could helps stop that. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mZppfJqo3rXdo30.html Maybe this will help. Just keep practicing. You'll get better. I'm sure of it. Have a good day.

Oh man I didn’t realize you responded! Sorry I didn’t see the notification! Thank you for responding! I love watching all your videos, I keep trying to use them as motivation to get out of how frozen in fear I am at “messing up”. Which is so silly and frustrating I know because how can someone really mess up with clay heh. I have a problem with being a perfectionist haha. So it’s really reassuring to know even the professionals - and I consider you a professional - had a little trouble in the beginning too

PanicLedisko I was curious to how Samantha answered this question because I was experiencing the same problem! Lol...I know all too well this fear you speak of too! I'm new to clay and resin is my medium of choice and let me tell you that I must've stared at my bottles of resin and the cups to pour it into for at least 3 hours before getting enough courage to tackle it! In the end, my project turned out so fantastic I was left wondering what the heck I was so afraid of in the first place! Besides...we all have to start somewhere and Some of my best pieces have been made out of mistakes! True story! Polymer clay is one if not the most forgiving mediums a person can use! It loves being manipulated! Lol! Best of luck and happy creating!
