Wonderful chat by Daniel giving many clues to researching the Irish records. I have many Irish ancestors and find surname variants spelling a real problem I have used Family Search for many years and will now try my luck with Roots Tech. Many thanks to all who have made this now possible for research as many ancestors emmigrated to USA mainly NYC.& NJ..I have found them much easier un US records. Keep up the good work.

Would you consider re-indexing the 1864 to 1881 births that are in familysearch from microfilm extraction? So many placenames are just wrong. But most important. You left off the critical piece of the place -- the townland or city/town address. It is this piece of information combined with the father's occupation, that allows us to differentiate people of the same name. Ireland is hard enough as it is without inaccurate oor incomplete information.

What about 1800 as Jacob Whitfield came to NSW in 1820. Married about 1800 ?
