One time in middle school, we were riding the bus on the way to school, we were crossing the train tracks ( I live in the country in NC). We go to cross the train tracks but there’s traffic at the light right in front of the track so our bus driver pulls onto the tracks while sitting in the traffic waiting to pull forward. All of a sudden the lights are flashing and the plastic things go down on the bus, It hits the bus really hard and loud and the bus driver starts freaking out. She didn’t know what to do if she should go forward or backwards because she was stuck under the plastic thing while the lights were going, and the train was coming at us. Keep in mind again this is at 7 AM on the way to middle schoolers and there’s about 10 kids on the bus. she can’t back up because there’s a car right on her tail and right in front of her. So she starts honking and freaking out so the car behind us had to back up and then she had to back up like literally 10 seconds before the train came by. We had to pull over and get off the bus and fill out police reports before heading back to school for the day.
