Definitely, sharp knife or sharpened snips. Water treatments are super helpful because they change the pH of the water to improve water uptake. Labrynth is actually a pretty good one, I can get 4 days from her. That’s great to know about your two varieties! I made the mistake of growing Breakout last year and it starts melting as soon it thinks it’s about to be cut 😂😂

Hi Maru, I have never used Floralife Express Clear 100 so I can’t speak to it from personal experience; but one benefit I’m noticing with that one is that it looks like you can leave your flowers in it for up to a week(?) versus Hydraflor which is for short term hydration. This would be a great question to ask of a Floralife rep :)

You know, I’m not really partial to any particular brand. I do use the Quick Dip product and I’m not sure they there’s an equivalent competitor product on the market for that one. The hydration solution and the flower food I have are shown in the video; but as I mentioned, I’m not particularly partial to any specific one, the two major manufacturers are Chrysal and Floralife. One thing I would say about the flower food I’ve used in the video is that it does create a bit of a visible residue which isn’t great for vase work and I’d be trying a different one in the future; but, for flower performance it has been good :)

That’s such a great question! The simple answer is that you can clean and grade right at harvest and then into water and into the cooler. If you are harvesting in certain climates, you would adjust your practices. For example, if harvesting in the rain or if plants are dewy they should be allowed to dry before going into storage. If it’s very hot in your area, you might harvest and store and then process later. My dahlias are not out of water for long - just minutes. But I think they could handle longer. Keep in mind, the stems are recut for a fresh drink right before they go back into the buckets with treated water :)
