Sounds pretty accurate to me. I'd say the worst things about being an ENTP is how rare it is to feel satisfied with something or also how long and unhinged my search for purpose has been.

The power dynamics part was right on, as stated by Nirali below. It kind of made me realize that being aware of these power dynamics is what eventually led me to "knock myself to the bottom rung" in almost every social situation and usually right away. Why? Because most people then do not feel the need to participate in the invisible power struggle or ranking that instantly happens. I do this with people I don't know daily and it often results in them telling me some of their worst fears or about low points in their lives even when our meeting is only 20 minutes long and we likely will never see each other again. I was amazed and surprised me when people started "spilling their guts" to me - which I very much love and am honored to hear. I finally realized it's because when I meet people I usually "set the bar low" somehow within the first few minutes by mentioning something stupid I've done or even something huge and hard I went through, although often it's just a light jab at myself. I don't even realize I'm doing it, but the effect is that the power play evaporates - for MOST people. One on one as well - in a group situation it can go many different ways, haha. I think this came from my own experience of social anxiety in some ways as well as awareness of power dynamics. I remember what it felt like to be afraid - to the point of panic - that I would be judged by anything that came out of my mouth. I remember how uncomfortable I would always feel, like everyone around me was so much better than I was for x reasons. I guess, coming out of it, I just embraced that feeling rather than tried to shove it away. Your take on improvisation is also dead on. Nothing energizes an ENTP like being in a situation of "OH SHIT THE ROOF IS ON FIRE" and to be the one people call to put out the flames. Actually being appreciated for that ability + constantly challenged = an ENTP who will be delighted and possibly even content with their line of work! I think the only things that didn't ring true for me you mentioned near the end of the video. I love teaching, be it adults or children. I especially love taking complicated thoughts, processes and ideas and translating them into metaphors to make them easy to grasp by all. I only have met one other ENTP in real life, a former boss, and although that was explosive as it became quickly apparent he could not deal with another ENTP in close orbit, he was extremely skilled at this kind of teaching as well so I'm thinking it could be a common trait. Repetition of that lesson is what will kill an ENTP. Having to teach the same concept over and over. And ENTP would do much better in instructional videos, having to explain things once, than as a real life teacher or professor. This is less true for kids, at least for me, but part of that is probably that the kids I teach are so unpredictable themselves, haha. Also the delivering of messages confused me a little bit. I am constantly gauging people's reactions and using all the minute little details I know about people to predict how they will take something I say. In my old age I have even been learning to modify or completely change my delivery to make my message better received rather than stick to my former brashness, or just keep my mouth shut about certain things to certain people. Perhaps that's just a maturity thing? But it's still Ne in the end. Fe too, but perhaps it just takes ENTPs awhile to realize that they can utilize Ne on themselves as well! The self is often far less interesting than The World and all in it but, if an ENTP has an idea or message, they want it to be heard or received by the intended audience! So again, maybe something realized with maturity and a developing "observing ego." Last thing - what did you mean by rewards? In a situation? Great job, I love your energy and enthusiasm! You nailed my entp friend! I would like to add that they are a lot fun to talk to. I'm an intp, I find the fact that the entp also stores so much knowledge and is it not afraid to have unpopular opinions makes for very interesting conversations. I think entps would make great companions for intps. Also, there are things I would have never done without my more outgoing counterpart, which makes my life more fun and interesting, if not a little scary for an introvert like myself, lol. I've watched your other video about entp body language and voice and have to say you've nailed him there too. One first things I noticed about entp friend is that his voice is "bouncy" especially when he is excited or happy about something. It's a very distinguishing characteristic.

I disagree with you about the training. I wouldn't want to be a teacher in a school, but I'm always the one at work who volunteers to train people. I'm using my ENTP creativity to figure out how to get people to efficiently learn to use new software or the main procedures of the work. At one job we had to go through a repetitive 3-week training when we started in order to learn an ERP system. We were only taught the order entry part, but not the complaint handling module. I had already worked with a couple of different ERP systems before, so all I needed to learn was how to translate my knowledge into this new system. I was going crazy and rebelling all the time during the training with the repetitiveness of it all. I was actually falling half asleep during many training sessions. So when there were at a later date new people coming to my team, I made sure I got the permission to train them. I got them fully trained and working in 3 weeks, including the complaints handling. I wasn't even training them full-time, only 3 full days of training the basics, then half days training and half days putting them to do actual work while I was doing my own work. So I had them producing value for the company in 3 days and in 3 weeks they could do every part of the job, including the more complex aspects. Quite a change to when I started, since it took 3 weeks before my fellow trainees and I were allowed to do any work in the live system. When I need to learn to use a new piece of software, I do learn quite intuitively. I maybe need to get started with a short explanation of what the software is used for and how you can use it in the basic use case. But then I start using it and I discover what the limits of the software are on my own. I discover in short time tricks which others have never learned, although they have worked with the software for years. I enjoy then teaching those tricks to others. When I teach others, I increase their knowledge level and work capacity. That way I create less irritation for myself. I can't stand it when other people using stupid work methods cause more work for me. I see the connections between them and me and the impact of their work methods on me and the rest of the organization. So I use my ENTP creativity and persuasion to train people in order to come up with a better working solution in the big picture way. It's also a way of playing intellectual one-upmanship which ENTPs are known for.

I understand that this is 3 years old but its spot on for a 24 year old ENTP. The overthinking is much of a curse in some ways, that i have found to be a drag. I do have my two best friends being an ENTJ and ESTJ who put me back on track, and professionally are extraordinary somehow, it works lol.

Is it normal for ENTPs to know exactly how to use a tool but the ability to actually use it comes harder(like a bow compass, you can visualize every way to use it and know all the instructions, but doing it is super hard to actually well DO, does this make any sense?)

An ENTPs need to constantly switch it up, which can make focusing difficult, however, like you said, they're always calculating pulling the trigger on the option with the best outcome at the same time looking at all the options ready to switch gears on the fly with no planning. They will also argue just to argue even if they don't believe what the arguing about.

It's true .... explaining is extremely frustrating and tedious. Another well-intentioned KZfaqr was suggesting that we ENTPers work on getting good at "explaining" to others - yikes! Perhaps taking a minute and using syntax that is clear and going from Part-to-Whole instead of Whole-to-Part chronology in speech? Have any other ENTPs here tried that?

Interesting concept, but your analysis is quite off. Only an ENTP way of thinking can find the most efficient way to do something after considering all possibilities where as an autistic type like INFJ, INTJ, INTP, ENTJ, ISTP, INFP, will stick to what they know and try to polish a turd first and maybe in old age realize they've wasted their time. As an ENTP I constantly see how everyone around me has already failed unless they get lucky and stumble upon "the golden ticket" before they've really begun down their path because I've mentally simulated all of the possibilities. I don't like to rely on luck but I see most people doing something or arguing some point and estimating how they arrived there by chance it makes me wonder how much of a disadvantage they're at moving forward where they'll compound these thought blunders.
