i only started the show last year and i barely remember a year in the life but i could tell right away that everyone had high expectations for her future in GG and i had this nagging thought that she was doomed to fail because of it. it was like her goals weren't as flexible as they could have been. the technology age didn't help her either but she should have thrived behind a computer.

Agree. TBH, her young mom seemed to be more mature and ready for the world than she is ironically, given that Lorelai had more comfortable life growing up.

Hollywood and all glamorize it but when both cheating parties do get together in the end, they can’t really trust each other, the “exhilaration” of cheating and not getting caught dies away, one or both end up feeling remorse and regret for what they did and they’re never truly happy. I had an aunt who cheated and later eloped with the guy she cheated with. I always thought they were happy since they were married for 30+ years. Her husband passed away, she got sick and one time I was visiting her in the nursing home, she talked about their affair and life after that. She said anybody who claims to be truly happy after doing something like that is lying to a certain degree. She talked about how she felt that regret and remorse years later into their marriage for what she did to her first husband and what it did to her second husband’s fiancée. I was actually surprised by all of it because the affair happened before I was born and they eloped shortly after I was born. No one in the family really talked about it.

How many times has Rory charted her own path to find success or learn a lesson? By asking for favours from the very circle she has rebelled against the entire series isn't consistent and makes her character look weak. Anyway, I already know the reboot is a look into the life of the real Amy Sherman P. She was an underachiever (relatively speaking) and Gilmore Girls s.1-7 is a glimpse of her life she envisioned if she had made better choices.

she probably wanted to find out if she could make it on her own and she got her answer. i think she's with logan bc she regrets her decision to say no and wants to correct the past. with that said lorelai and emily are strong independent women however Rory is definitely not. if she doesn't need logan she needs her mother if not her then her dad or grandparents or lane Paris etc. she just cannot make it on her own. it's not a terrible thing but it's who she is.

Yes i totally agree with you I feel like she was so selfish. I hated all she did to Dean and he really loved her and countless times he put everything on a line for her and sacrificed himself for her. What I don't get is why the writers would first make rory to be this very pure intelectual honest girl to this disappointing character. Like they little by little destroyed that purity and innocence they were trying to push in the first episode. I can't even watch this anymore it's nust depressing to see the person she became.

@@Chambely I think that the writers probably wrote it like that because otherwise the series would be boring. They needed drama to keep the show running for 7 seasons. I also think that as the audience got older we started seeing things that we weren't aware of before. The same thing happened with me and Friends. When I was younger I thought they were all so cool and funny but actually they are all terrible human beings when you look at their actions.

@@TheMarkmcr no i dont think so. in chilton and especially in yale she learned that her privileges dont mean nothing unless she worked on them. in her first semester she got a d in an essay and learned that she needed to work harder. then in her newspaper club she worked to get doyle’s attention. shes someone who spent like 6-7 years around rich smart people. she learned she needed to work harder and try to find ways to stand out. so after she graduated and find a job all that qualities and work ethic just left her?

The reason her personality changed in the later seasons was because she was spending more time away from the people (particularly her mom) who constantly praised her

I completely agree. Her character started changing frpm season 2-3 and I did notice that within those seasons, her mother Lorelai never really guided her enough for her to know what she should have done in a certain situation. I mean Lorelai was her best friend, and best friends had limits, so Lorelai only told Rory opinions or suggestions, not like a mother would. After Rory's first boyfriend Dean, she was so lost. She couldn't think straight anymore, she seemed like she didn't know what she wanted anymore. She was too pressured from everything, and that was because she was too sheltered. She was a mama's girl and she admitted that. It's just that after Dean, she started making bad decisions and another and another and another. She always decided what she felt in a moment and then suddenly felt the opposite thing in the next. She loved Dean, she met Jess, she got bored with Dean, she broke up with Dean, she realized Jess treated her badly, they break up, she realized Dean treated her better, she wants him again. Now, she cheats with Dean, Jess asks forgiveness and promises to change but she says no, she continues to be a mistress, she ruins a marriage, and she even acted like the victim at the end. Her and Dean got back together, she meets Logan, Dean knows about this and breaks up with her. What do we get from her? A crying Rory. She doesn't even try to talk to Dean and get him back. She instead hooks up with Logan and becomes his booty call, ugh. Now, she and Logan makes it official, becomes bf and gf, Logan's dad made her an intern at his company and in the end notices she doesn't have the strength to become a journalist, she gives up. She seriously had mental health issues. She wasn't stable. She wasn't a stable minded human being. She kept pushing away people around her and when they do, eventually, she wants them coming back. She wanted a good life, but she never wanted anyone controlling it for her. She wanted it easy, just a simple give and take, but life isn't like that. Hence, her life became miserable. She never really worked on herself. She never really 'helped' herself. She did things to impress others, and when other people wasn't impressed of her, she'd feel like the weight of the world was falling on her shoulders and she would just give up so rashly. She was and adult already, yes, but she needed to grow up.

Rory is honestly a realistic character, she was a charming person in High School, she started a new environment in season 4, but didn’t change completely she was still likable, and she did some impulsive things as a result of growing up and not being trapped in a small bubble, she meet Logan who pushed her. One of the things I don’t like in the show is when Jess was yelling at Rory for dropping out of Yale for a couple of months, is he claims to know her. I highly disagree with that, he didn’t know Logan or Rory. She wasn’t 17 anymore, Jess still had 17 year old Rory in his head

she is the single most horrible character I have ever seen , I loved her so much in the first season but then she went and became the greatest disappointment of all time , I drew my line after she started cheating and body shaming , I stopped watching the after season 3 , It isn't worthy anymore .

Yeah I agree. In beginning, the show was very promising with the ups & downs of a young single mother with her teenage daughter. Rory was such a great kid in the beginning eventually turn out to be worst that her mother. She got nowhere with her career, didnt know to appreciate a great love, having affairs with her attached boyfriends, & end up living with her mom, as a struggling writer & pregnant with an unknown man with most likely (God forbid) her married ex bf in an explicit short term affairs. Among many of a long seasons favourite tv dramas, I think GG has the worst ending/closure for its main characters. The very least they cud make Rory a successful documentary/travel journalist she always dream to be or some editor in a famous company in NY...anything to show she gave up her love to be successful in her career. However they gave her a pathethic ending with her having affair with her engaged ex bf, he still proceed with his wedding, she rtn to her small hometown with no achievement to flaunt, then come another ex suggesting she shud give writing books a try, also meeting another ex who has move on married with kids, conveniently in the mart where they had their 1st kiss & still remember it. Worst they made her pregnant with a vague partner whom most likely the jerk who cheated his fiancee. At least Rory's parents didnt cheated anyone. Their problem was they very young but Lorelei own up to her mistake, raising Rory singlehandedly from birth until college, work from maid to GM, to owner of her own establishment & eventually settled down with a great man who has been by her side for the longest time. This tv series writer must have hate Rory or else why wud she write such a sucks ending for her.

Lucía Rojas Lander he went off and became successful he came back and tried to convince Rory to come back to school, never got Rory in trouble and he was the bad boy. I don’t like dean cause he emotionally abused Lindsey I don’t like Logan cause he lives off his privilege along with Rory so they’re perfect for each other. But Jess was self made started from the bottom even when no one told him he could make it. So that’s why I like him.

Jess matured and was great later but he was a HORRIBLE boyfriend. I really think the way he treated her and then abandoned her (someone who grew up with an absent father) was what really started her going off the rails and making bad choices. Not the only thing but definitely a contributing factor.

I can't stand Jess. I stopped watching the show because of him, once Lori started to emotionally cheat on Dean with horrible horrible Jess.

It is realistic but the show started out at such a delicate point in a lot of girls’ lives, inspired them and made them feel like it was ok to be a little nerdy and driven that it really shattered the expectation that if you study/work hard you have a chance at doing what you want. That’s not always the case, yes, but with such a large audience it would have been nice to see that with effort you CAN reach your goals.

On top of which, she's in love with a guy who's engaged to a woman *he* doesn't love, and they're both too stupid to fix the situation, even though they both graduated from Yale. This is nit-picky, but younger Rory spoke quickly, in a higher-pitched voice. This older Rory speaks in an lower voice, and it seems slower too. It's like young Rory was on the move, eager to interact and please those around her, and how older Rory isn't trying to please anyone. Not that I think Rory should go through her whole life trying to be a people-pleaser, but the way she talks now just seems... lazy. And like she doesn't care about engaging with any other person.
