@@DudeMcGuybro Cyberpunk had a 100x worse launch than this and is still extremely unoptimized and bugged to this day. Hell they still don't have an NG+ even after a year and a half. I can agree that the second game isn't as good as the first, but I feel like its unfair to compare that in terms of content because DL1 had 7 years of polishing and constant updates with tweaks being added. DL2 just needs time to actually catch up in content, and I personally think the gameplay mechanics are far superior to the original game. Small QoL changes are needed (gore, physics, etc) but other than that I really don't see too much of a problem with gameplay mechanics.

@@MrRobot-jb5tl I get this game wasn't going to be the first again in terms of story, the way it felt, etc. but straight up I'm talking about falling thru the floor, zombies halfway in a wall, items you can't pick up because they glitch into walls, etc. Had entire missions go on fail loops until a patch came out, and I had none of these issue on PC with Cyberpunk, yet Cyberpunk got shit on because it was "buggy on release", which is hilarious, because this game is every bit as worse with the bugs. The content itself was ok, I felt like there weren't a lot of side quests/missions to fill in gaps in the world. Also worth mentioning, I didn't play any of the Dying Light 1 DLC.

This may be coming from DLSS or FSR upscaling options. Especially DLSS has tendency to be oversharpend when it's not implemented correctly, like in RDR2 or God of War (they patched it for the latter, fortunately, and included DLSS Sharpness slider in last update).

I think one of my bigger issues with this game is the threat of the dead compared to the first game. It could just be because I got better at evading them. But the feeling of seeing volatiles roam around the streets AND EVEN the rooftops, felt more intense than walking passed howlers. Don't get me wrong, nighttime was still threatening, but seriously, dying light 1 made the infection alot more threatening than 2. Still game of the year for me.

I think that with how big the map is and how much stuff you actually have to do at night you probably wouldn't want the threat to be too high, it's okay if the activities are more sparse, but there's a shit ton to do in the massive open world at night and you don't want it to be too butt clenching all the time. I understand how people feel tho
@MJung-zu2vq
@MJung-zu2vq 2 жыл бұрын
I think the real problem is how u traverse the city, not the abscence of volatiles. Movement speed is too fast, there is no contact with infected because you are always on the rooftops, and the glider made it all even less scary. You could just skip most of the map, and the only time there was a little bit of danger was when you had to get down to complete a mission. In dying light 1, you were in constant danger not only when you arrived at the mission, but also on the way there. Seeing volatiles is too rare in dying light 2 as well, I only saw them in the tv antenna mission and in the last mission, and even those times you didn't have to fight any volatile, you could just sneak past them easily.

@peste2574
@peste2574 2 жыл бұрын
@@imfam8838 Well, my experience is regarding console gameplay. I only played a few hours (6 at best, maybe a little more). For starters, the tutorial (the first 2-3 hours of the game) is very badly paced. Lots of unnecessary cutscenes, and it also takes too long. The only good part for me was the introduction of the guy from the bazar (whose name I already forgot, lol). Secondly, I`m not a fan of the combat. I played on Normal, and it was really way too easy. Most zombies die with a few hits from the weakest stuff you get, as do people. Most of the combat animations Aiden are also very odd. I`m never sure when something is going to hit or not, it`s definitely a downgrade from Dying Light 1 (and maybe even Dead Island, but it has been a while that I played it). I really hated the combat and enemies. Combat with humans is also very easy. In the first game they would dodge and counter attack, and sometimes even run away or rush you when you were healing. They would also throw stuff at you when you were far away. From what I`ve seen, that shit is gone. Now most of the combat with people resume to them slowly walking around you, and maybe they`ll hit you. Very, very boring, and you also get one of the strongest moves of the game right at the beginning as well. In DL1 they were also very tanky (which lots of people complain about, but at the start of DL1 you had shitty weapons with bad stats), but in DL2 they are very weak. The hud for me is bad, as is the x-ray vision. I also don`t like the inventory system, but atleast now it actually pauses the game as you use it. It certainly is an improvement from DL1, but even then, that isn`t saying much. To me, the biggest kick in the nuts is the parkour. Aiden is slow as heck, and when you pair it with the fact that you have a stamina bar for climbing (of which aiden also does very, VERY fucking slowly), it makes it very boring. Oh, did I mention that you share the stamina bar for climbing with fighting? Yup, that`s right. It is fucking horrible. Terrible game design. Even tarkov implemented two bars for different actions (which is much more reallistic). I don`t care what they say about it, the parkour is definitely WORSE. I find it much harder to do free running. Aiden can`t decide if he jumos too short, or too far. There also seems to be a delay between pressing to climb and jump stuff and actually doing it, and that totally shits on the experience. I really, really hate the parkour on this. Aiden plays like a guy who is perpetually drunk. I cannot do fine movement with him as I could with Crane. The floatiness is bad all, but the together with all the other complains I have, it just makes it all very boring, tiresome, and annoying. Man, I just realized I never wrote this much before for reviewing a game, so let me finish this up with saying that these youtubers are either deaf, blind, or being paid to be so, because this game has so many basic game design problems that I cannot believe they don`t see it. I started it out giving it a fair chance with low espectations and I still came out disappointed with how the game turned out, and that is saying something.

I’m sure someone has said this already but keep in mind that upgrading the grapple gives you the ability to briefly hoist yourself in the direction of the hook which works similarly to how it did in the first game. This in combination with a good chunk of stamina allows you to pull of some spiderman-like gameplay that is super cool.

Part of Dying Light 2's zombie issue is more so related to the fact that they're not a new threat anymore, they've become an environmental hazard due to years of humans adapting and surviving against them. It was different in the first game because it was a new virus and people were figuring out ways to stop them. Now in 2, everyone knows how to deal with them. The same thing happened with The Walking Dead, they become less dangerous as people figured out ways to keep them at bay or stop them completely. But still, the first game is better. In 1, Zombies were the threat, in 2 it's the other way around.

So a fun thing about the upgraded grappling hook is that you can abuse it kinda spiderman around. Either rank 2 or 3 (I don't remember I upgraded it to 3 immediately) allow you to press ALT when you're already attached to something and pull Aiden towards the anchor point a bit. You can use this repeatedly to get some crazy momentum and really make you feel like a badass when you just fling yourself around the map.

The gore response mechanics are so underwhelming. Really expected better after replaying Dead Island and Dying Light (the first game) again. No wound decals on the body, no blood pools/blood puddles forming around the ground while zombies walking with severed limbs (only after death), no wound variations, just overall so disappointing for a game where you expect a nice gory mess similar or better to the previous games. The game is still solid and a decent play, but it just fails so hard in the gore department in my opinion. Left 4 Dead 2 back in 2009 did it so much better almost 13 years ago and the previous games also did it a lot better. What a shame. I guess that is what you get when you want to cater to Germany and Austria so your game won't get censored, ridiculous.

Completely agreed the zombies are an after thought in this game. Too much parkour, too much pointless conversations about mundane topics, it's all over the place imho. I enjoy dead Island much more then this. I don't need parkour gimmicks. I need more suspension of disbelief. The environment feels like something out of ninja warrior TV show, so unrealistic imho. I don't mind *some* parkour where appropriate but when every effen building is copy pasted with trampolines, skater rails, I lose immersion. And don't get me started on the boring gear treadmill and rpg elements that are almost exclusively parkour focused. If I want to play a parkour game, I'll play mirrors edge or something.

Really disappointed that they toned down the darkness at night and how it’s no longer as threatening or arse clenching getting chased at night. That’s what made the first game for me, yet they said people complained it was too hard. I don’t believe that. I’ve never heard or read anyone saying it was too hard at night in the first game. NOT ONCE. They just did it to be more accessible to a wider, younger audience. Essentially dumbing the game down. So many companies do this and it loses its flavour and one of the things that made the first game so memorable. It just waters down the experience. I still love the game but that’s just my opinion. Great video 👍🏻👍🏻.

oh no, major fuck up... it's one of my main complaints of "modern" games (yuck) how they implement this "fake darkness" everywhere, it's not really DARK like PS1 games were, like older late 90's PC games were, where darkness was Pitch Black.... but here's the important detail: it was pitch black without affecting the visibility of the surround area, you could still SEE stuff... not the case with modern games, where I feel like there's this "fog" covering up everything, and the way they design darkness these days they simply lower the gamma brightness of the whole environment, making it really difficult to SEE shit... I don't want to feel eye strain for playing a stupid fucking game... I don't want end up using glasses because of some stupid fucking game... fuck that shit

Might be because unlike Cyberpunk, we barely heard anything about Dying Light 2. No news or updates, just radio silence. Which I think was for the best. It helped the team focus on making a *good* game rather then trying to match the unrealistic demands and hype that would have most certainly happened if the game was constantly being advertised! Same thing happened with Lost Soul Aside. The developers went radio silent for a good few years not because production was in trouble (in fact the game has had a smooth production apparently), but because they didn’t want to be strangled by overblown expectations. And honestly I think all game developers need to start doing this: go dark for a bit, focus on the game and making it the best thing ever, and *then* start the hype train. Because if you start the hype train before the bridge if finished, then you’re gonna end up crashing right into a ravine.

I didn't play much of DL1, but I did play a lot of Dead Island co-op. This game looks so freaking interesting with so many mechanics. It looks like how Bethesda games felt 15-20 years ago and there's something admirable about that.

Honestly though when it comes to the lockpicking mechanic, it works. It isn't broken, it's one less thing you need to teach the player and it feels familiar- which it would even to a seasoned survivor like the character is supposed to be. IDK. Kinda like saying having a compass-based HUD is overused.
@GamingWithHajimemes

Yeah but like you can't really change the compass hud much besides just looks. You *can* change the lockpick mechanics instead of just opting for the skyrim choice over and over again.

My two big hates are: 1) climbing and dropping, climbing and dropping, European Jank(tm) I guess, and 2) buying multiple crafting materials but you need TWO panels to do it. WHY Techland is the (C) for multiple purchases AFTER a separate button? The amount of extra buttons that do the same basic thing -- skills especially -- is a third hate, but I can just choose the ones I want I guess. Why do we use a skill point to smash an NPC from a drop only to buy a skill point later that does the near exact same thing?

The first one had super fun gameplay but a laughably hackneyed story and Saturday morning cartoon villains. Since this sequel seems to have similar, if not even slightly improved gameplay and a heavy emphasis on telling a good story, it seems like they've just fixed the biggest problem (in my mind) that they had to. This makes me glad.

You should do a retrospective review of dying light 1 and again for dying light 2 after a few years. Unlike most games, DL had gotten a lot of free updates that improved the game immensely and made the dlcs actually worth playing. I believe the same treatment would be given to this game especially with techland's promise of at least 5 years continual support and content updates.

Even tho in Dying Light 1 you had the kick head move to instakill, i didn't always use it. But having it as an option was certainly a huge blessing. Im happy they have expanded on that concept and I'm sure they will release new and exciting extra stuff like they have with Dying Light 1. It's nice to hear that this one's story is great, as much as I loved the first game the story was soooo cliche and honestly kinda bad that the only reason I returned playing that game just for the fun gameplay and I never wanted to touch the story ever again after finishing it. I really hoped they'd do something good for the sequel, because combined with the first game's brilliant and fun gameplay it could become something awesome.

I actually like hearing that the story is long. My problem with the first game is that the story was so short. You can basically finish it in a few hours so unless you were engaging in other activities you could get to new maps pretty fast and had a ton of back log quests

I know they recently updated the game, but I’m still getting the non ending quest glitches, where when I do any objective like activating a windmill, clearing some zombies, or even talking to someone, all of them have a 50% chance of working or not working and keeping me stuck, forcing me to quit the game, jump back in, and do it again, in hopes that it works THIS time. I’m on Ps5, and everyone else talked about a black flicker screen. I got that only a day before the patch, they fixed that at least.

This review is way too nice this game still has bugs and bugs and bugs to this very day dying light 1 will be remembered for being a unique parkour survival zombie game dying light 2 will be remembered as a buggy mess and nothing more. Only other thing it can possibly remembered for is making night time feel shallow as hell compared to the first one and the grapple hook was the most unnecessary addition in a game since jason todd in arkham knight.
