If Esme really is Ryan's daughter, there's a good chance that Esme is as much of a talented actress as her portrayer is and has been faking the whole thing. Or maybe she really did have amnesia at one point but once she remembered naming her baby Ace, perhaps she remembered everything else, but has decided to fool everyone into thinking she still has amnesia to avoid prosecution. I definitely think that there have been flashes of the old Esme in recent episodes.

@Lexi I love Laura, but she's been working the last good nerve I have lately. First it was her letting her crap son off the hook for knocking up a teenager (I'm assuming Esme is 19 or 20) and then being harder on Spencer for being pissed at his father. Now it's all the sugary sweetness to Esme. It's a no for me. She can get redemption and find Jesus in Pentonville, like Cyrus.

@@seniorqueen08 She did, Ava almost killed her, Liesel almost killed her, she was imprisoned by Nikolas and Liz and nearly died of hypothermia lost her memory had to serve in Spring Ridge with Heather Webber of all people, was kidnapped and tormented for hours prior to giving birth. What else is she supposed to pay for? she even lost her Dad and if she could remember him she'd be crushed she served her time and then some. Spencer didn't stay locked up long after his stunts with Ava he was bailed out twice by Victor and his money. Esme already paid and apologized.

While this doesn’t excuse everything that she has done, Esme is as a primary product of her parents and was groomed to be just like them. She never had two responsible parental figures in her life to guide or show her right from wrong and as a result she has turned out like this. Manipulative people raise manipulative children.

Well for the first little while of a baby’s life they need to be breastfed by the mother, bathed, held, and made sure that they are healthy at the hospital. You can’t just hand a newborn baby off to someone else right away.

Laura checked Nikolas for a year straight and sided with Spencer everytime even when he was lying it's time for her to show baby boy she not playing with him. If anyone gets the baby she does.

We know Genie Francis likes to take extended breaks during the year, but if the show is going to keep Laura as the mayor, they need to come up with better excuses for her to be off screen. Plus, let’s be honest, she’s always doing small things that go beyond the reach of her position.

I don't think it has so much to do with Esme, per see, but more to do with Nikolas. He is Laura's favorite child and she has always had a blind spot where he is concerned. Esme being pregnant with Nikolas' child is ultimately what started her heel turn where Esme is concerned and finding out Ryan is her father is what completely sealed the deal for her. Esme having Ryan as a father reminds her of Nikolas having Stavros as a father. She knows what Nikolas went through meeting Stavros for the first time. So it makes her have sympathy for Esme. And now that she has given birth to another grandson by Nikolas, Laura is going to be one of Esme's biggest champions. Do I like it? No. However knowing how Laura is where Nik is concerned, I get where she's coming from.

Its just the writers are keen on keeping the actress around and instead of actually having her see the error of her ways, accepted her punishment and come out the otherside a changed person, we got this. If Nikolas is indeed gone I feel the Esme propping is just going to get doubled down, especially by Laura. She feels guilty about Nikolas being raised without a mother, fate took Spencer's mother from him and if he's truly gone, she's gonna make sure her new grandson is raised by his mother. Will this backfire in her face, probably, but not for a while unfortunately.
