The Ghazwa of Banu Qurayza, also known as the Battle or Siege of Banu Qurayza, took place in 627 CE during the early years of Islam in Medina. Following the Battle of the Trench, the Jewish tribe of Banu Qurayza, who had a prior alliance with the Muslims, was accused of treachery by allegedly conspiring with the Meccan Quraysh against the Muslims. In response, the Prophet Muhammad and his followers besieged the Banu Qurayza's stronghold for 25 days. The siege ended with the tribe's surrender. A council led by Sa'd ibn Mu'adh, a Muslim chosen by the Banu Qurayza, decided on the punishment: the men were executed, and the women and children were taken captive.
