New Ghillie wood fired kettle stove, new Gransfors Bruks small forest axe and new Fjallraven Singi Stubben backpack all used in this bushcraft style outdoors coffee and tea making, using wood from the forest to create the fire which boils our water.
We headed back to Snowdonia in North Wales in our camper van to experience this new way of making a brew, the weather was fresh, wind whistling through the tree tops and before we made our fire to cook over, we tried our new storm kettle.
This was just a short video to show you a different, relaxing way of making a hot drink. You can cook on this using various accessories but this was its maiden voyage with us so we kept it simple on this trip.

For anyone who's new to these kettles, beware if your kettle plug is not a whistling type. If your spout plug doesn't have a hole in it, it won't whistle, it will seal in pressure until hot water literally EXPLODES out of the spout!! So, if you have a non-whistle cork-type plug, do NOT stick it in the spout whilst boiling water!

Very good point! I believe this brand only provide whistling lids where a different brand don’t but, you make a very valid point 👍🏼

@@Professionalmoochers Ah, cheers my friend. Yes, perhaps it's just the Kelly Kettles that can have corks, but yeah - it's wise to spread the info for Storm Kettle newbies!

I’m 31 but watching you mess with this stove made me realize no matter how old we get we’re all boys when it comes to making a little fire and boiling some water. This is a stove I’ll have to add to my collection! Great video sir

It’s genuinely a relaxing way to make a brew. Not the easiest but gathering round a fire, no matter how small, just decompresses us 😁🔥

As you are morphing into the full Ray mears when can we expect a review of a baggy Khaki shorts fjallraven of course. I’ll stick to my biolite stove. Seems a lot less faff than that and charges my phone. Thx for entertainment. 👍👍👍

😂😂 they’d have to be baggy to fit me! I just like having options to do things differently, not sure I’ve seen a bio lite stove, maybe I shouldn’t google it as I’ll end up “needing” one!

Just a hint. A bog roll tube fits through the top . If you fill it with twigs and or charcoal you have an instant fire you can carry with the kettle. If you are proper posh you can use flamers fire lighters as the fuel. They work great. A bit pricey though. Been using my Guillie for years that way. It never fails. The hobo stove is worth the purchace but you do need to use charcoal for that really. Feeding twigs into those holes gets old very quickly. Enjoy your Guillie kettle. Buy british and you only buy once.

Great tips thanks!! I can imagine feeding the hobo with twigs is a full time job and I do a lot of BBQing at home so always have a supply of briquettes 😁 Cheers Paul, this will certainly be getting used more in the future, even contemplating adding a small one to it 👍🏼

@@Professionalmoochers hehe, Yes I also have a smaller one for my solo fishing trips. The big ones are good for a base camp but they do take up a lot of space in your pack. The problem is they only make the hobo stove for the base camp model unless they have added more sizes of hobo stoves. I am not sure I do not check these things regularly.

We often base ourselves in the Campervan so the larger unit is perfect some of time. Maybe a flat grill suspended over the smaller base ontop of rocks might work well but, you probably wouldn’t get much fuel in it

Is Ghillie Kettles still in business? I ordered one last year off the website and they haven't sent it and won't reply to my emails. Their website links to porn half the time now.

😂😂 porn??? I believe they are yes. They’re still posting on their Facebook page, might be worth trying there. I emailed asking which model I had (as a friend gifted this to me) and they didn’t respond. Hopefully it’s just a cockup as it’s really good to use 👍🏼
