Was just in Leeds, Manchester and Bradford a couple of weeks back. Nearly had a chance to meet Anne Marie at Voltage Studio where they recorded The Silent Shout last year as well as her meeting new GD guitarist Tim Walker who runs the studio....schedules didn't align unfortunately and AMH was sick that week, too....bummer....but me and my Mancunian pal saw all the places I had longed to see with my own eyes since becoming a fan of SOM, The Mission and GD way back in 1984 and onward to this day....oh, and we went to see the Mission at the Ritz in Manchester on 10-26-23 and again at the Roundhouse on 10-28-23, their last stop of the tour. The last two songs at the Ritz featured Mark Burgess and Reg Smithies of The Chameleons. What a treat.. Side story...In 1986 I was working at a Southern California record store which carried NME, Sounds and Melody Maker which I read religiously. There was an ad in one of them saying the Ghost Dance was seeking a 2nd guitarist....I did a demo cassette of Temple of Love on guitar using my Roland TR 808 drum machine, wrote a letter saying I would fly out on my dime and audition and if they didn't like me I would of course thank them and head back to the US. About a month later I received a letter penned by Gary Marx himself thanking me for the tape and letter and saying they were looking for a "Northwest England based guitarist". I later found out they hired New Yorker Richard Steel which hurt a bit but years later found that Steel was already in the North and playing in a band so he was a known commodity and luckily was in the right place at the right time. i still think I was a better choice because of my personal guitar sound and style and how it fit with Gary's but oh well.....at least I tried and I still listen to GD all the time...I'm currently in my 750th Ghost Dance phase since 1986....love them forever..

Let the dust form and cover my tracks Just keep on walking, never look back Tomorrow’s calling, hear the sirens wail Shadows falling, coming down like rain On the last train Riding the weather On the last train My idea of heaven’s when I hear that whistle blow A kiss too late goodbye All aboard let’s go And leave yesterday behind In the morning will things still look the same Come the dawn and the cold light of day When the euphoria starts to subside I wonder who’s been taken for a ride On the last train Headlong together On the last train Hell-bent for leather Where I’m bound I don’t know Ask me if I care Let that whistle blow Take me anywhere, anywhere but home Tomorrow’s calling I’ve gotta get away Shadows falling Coming down again On the last train Headlong together On the last train Hell-bent for leather Where I’m bound I don’t know Ask me if I care Let that whistle blow Take me anywhere On the last train, on the last train…

@steveobie1 Yeah, 'Stop the World' was 1989 and 'Gathering Dust' was released in 1988, even though it was mostly previously released singles. But, hey, regardless this is a great band that should be better known.

I didn't know that Dr Avalanche also left the Sister of Mercy. ;)

danielscissorhands The guitar here is more Sisters like as well. There's some Nine While Nine in this.

Actually Sisters ended with the First and last and alwasys LP. Gary's and Wayne's guitar lines are totally missed in post 1985 Sisters Lps.

They did have a drummer in the last couple of years they were going. People should get their facts right.
