This is my favorite MI movie. The team here feels the most like a real team and not just "Ethan Hunt and extras" like the previous two. The team actually have their own motivations for being on the team, and not just part of a generic roster.

For the longest time, this was my favorite movie in the series. But then 5 and 6 came out, and managed to improve on it even more. You'll see soon enough. Also, fun fact: much of the movie was filmed in Prague, such as the railway station, the courtyard and interior of the Kremlin, and the streets outside the hospital than Ethan escapes from. I went to Prague in 2017, and recognized the places from the film. It's a beautiful place, though I had to cut my visit short due to a medical emergency. I'll go back there someday...

LOL the funny thing about Tom Cruise as a Producer: He only takes Producer credits because the producers in previous movies would override him & veto stunts he wanted to do. So he figured "(shrugs) I'll just take over as the boss, now I can't veto stuff I wanna do"

There's also a great story by Matt Damon regarding his conversation with Tom about the Dubai tower stunt. I'm not going to spoil it (Matt's a really good storyteller), but it's in the KZfaq video on Team Coco (Conan)'s KZfaq channel called "Matt Damon & Tom Cruise Have Different Approaches To Death-Defying Stunts".

Knowing that Cruise did all of these crazy, crazy stunts on his own makes him the MVP of every MI film. No doubt he is platinum level as far as actors doing their own stunts. He just raises the bar so high with each sequel. Keanu gets his share of props, but no actor does the insane stunts cruise performs.

You are on a roll with the back-to-back Bond and Mission Impossible franchise reviews! Mission Impossible 5 is so much better after watching the first three Daniel Craig Bond movies. MI5 Rogue Nation has its own story arc while paying homage to Craig's early Bond run with key scenes and plot points. You may also recognize the blonde "Dunhill contact" as the same guy from MI1, same actor as the "milkman" from Living Daylights and the HoHoHo Machine Gun lackey from Die Hard.

Came out near Christmas 2011. Major upgrade for the franchise. One of my favorite sequels. The first live-action feature by animation legend, Brad Bird (The Incredibles, Ratoutoulle and The Iron Giant). From part 3 onward, these sequels stay fully connected (thanks to J.J. Abrams as producer). From part 4 onward, they utilize IMAX technology in some scenes. This one definitely proved that Cruise is one of the best actors to ever do action period. The cast (IMF, villains) was great. Jeremy Renner was super busy between MI-4, the MCU and the Bourne franchise. Not too many 4th installments are this good.

Christopher McQuarrie coming onboard for Rogue Nation, than staying for next three (fallout and parts 1 and 2 of Dead Reckoning) is the best thing that happened to this franchise. Only director Cruise wanted to return for more than one film and it shows.
@victornewmanforever
@victornewmanforever Жыл бұрын
Chris McQuarrie wrote and directed the next installments after Tom Cruise considered he "saved" Ghost Protocol while they were shooting. His main contribution was the rewriting of the third act. It was also his idea to add a scene to bring back Luther and Julia. He considered it a big mistake to kill Julia as the spectator would leave the theater unsatisfied.

What is even more impressive about this is that the director of this movie (Brad Bird) had never done a live-action movie before this. Before this he was a director for animated movies including quite a few Pixar movies, the one most on topic probably being The Incredibles. Besides all the stuff that is very obviously great about this movie what I actually really like besides all that is that this seems to be one of the only Spy-Movies where most of the gadgets fail which creates even more suspense. It is also very fitting for the theme as they are no longer backed by the government but rogue so they don't have top equipment that was checked by experts (if you think about it, the problem with equipment started when Ghost Protocol was initiated)

Great reaction, Jen.👍🤗❤ It's such fun to see how much you're enjoying this franchise. Yes, the Middle East regularly gets storms like the one in this movie, but they're not "sandstorms". They're actually dust storms consisting of very fine red dust which reaches so high in the sky (as in this movie) that it can transform a sunny day at noon into as dark as midnight. The dust gets everywhere, so, you really have to bundle up and make sure you have no exposed skin, or else you're going to feel very dirty until you get a chance to take a shower. Plus, the dust storms can last half a day or more which makes driving impossible since you can't see more than a few feet in front of you. One time, I was in a really bad storm in Iraq. 👎😠 I fully extended my arm in front of me and could not see my hand because the dust was so thick.

Specially when they come with ‘authentic fight sounds’ and alert us to all the ‘cool spy gadgets’. We’ll all have our own opinion of any movie, obviously, so it’s refreshing when she saves her opinion til after the movie and just geeks out while the movie is playing. Really makes the movie fun to rewatch. @Kasino80 it's really a very good movie, just not as good or as popular as the next two coming up. Very excited to see how Jen reacts to 5 & 6. Though Patton is great, and I wish she would make an appearance in 7 or 8, Rebecca has better chemistry with Tom.

@@tiye65 I actually didn't finish 5. I don't quite know what was about it. Maybe because I loved the team in 4 and felt 5 was much more focused on Hunt.

@@Kasino80 You really should watch 5, it's actually better then 4, and 6 is better then 5. It really does get better each movie...Though I must say I was not a big fan of 3.

Great reaction! As always. And I'm still waiting to hear that you've finished your lair... I loved Renner in this one. He's so fricking good an actor. To do this in between the MCU movies was great. But glad he stretched. 😀 I love the core team, which to me is Ethan, Benjy, and Luther, but the auxiliary team of Jane and Brandt were great in this one too.

This one is GREAT and has that fun aspect of being directed by Brad Bird (Incredibles!) The franchise keeps getting better and better and Fallout is one of my favourite action movies ever :)

One advantage of not watching the trailer is that you aren't spoiled about the big skyscraper stunt.

When you rewatch it pay close attention to when Ethan and Benji pass security start to walk through the Kremlin. I won't spoil it for you.

Hot Fuzz soon? Awright! I started crushing hard on Paula Patton ("Jane Carter") way back in 2006's Deja Vu. Only disappointed by the whole "Let's set off nukes for the hell of it" motivation for the villain. Thanks, Moneyjenny.

Definitely a weak villain after 2 and 3.

@@LordVolkov This was easily the weakest villain in the entire series. Thankfully, the next two films really pick up the slack (and I'm getting good impressions for Dead Reckoning's villain too based on the trailer)
