It may have not been the Ghostbusters 3 that we legacy fans wanted, BUT it was the Ghostbusters movie we NEEDED and it delivered. I can say since Harold Ramis passed I just always had this doubt in me that we would NEVER get that Ghostbusters movie that we wanted for years especially after that debacle we got in 2016. Then Jason came along with not only a new story that was set in the same universe and checked all boxes but it was also this tribute to one amazing man that if it weren't for his hand, we wouldn't have Ghostbusters today and that was Harold Ramis- the moment that SCENE happened my eyes instantly watered up. For a few minutes Harold/Egon was back and we had a proper goodbye this time. Hell the OG's for the time they had in it they nailed it and they finally did Ernie/Winston justice. If anyone deserves to be pushing forward that Ghostbusters legacy it IS DEFINITELY him and I would be all for it to see where it goes next. Thank you to Jason Reitman for this wonderful movie and made everything right again.

I loved the way they put the “For Harold” in the body of the movie and didn’t just tack it on after the credits. Very nicely done.

I absolutely adored it, I felt like a kid watching the original for the first time all over again. That ending punched me in the gut so hard, man. That being said, I hope this gets a sequel because the new blood really did shine and I hope they can do it again

I'm with ya J, this film was something really special for OG Ghostbusters fans, it hit all the notes, was a total home run as far as capturing the feel of GB, and at its heart was a total love letter to Harold Ramis and Egon as a character. I cried big man tears several times. I loved all the new characters too, especially Paul Rudd and McKenna Grace as the granddaughter. Busting makes me feel gooooood!!!! Hot damn it's a good time to be a Ghostbusters fan. Love your fucking faces boys, loved the review

Ghostbusters 3 pleasantly surprised me. They hit the right notes with nostalgia & the different theme music from the original. The end shot of Manhattan with the music coming on & the ghost container makes me think that Ghostbusters 4 could be in the pipeline. Woa I'm already saying Ghostbusters 4! 😆 8/10 marks. Ghostbusters 2 is a very good sequel, the hate towards it is bizarre. The actor who played Oscar sadly died at 28 in 2017.

I am right with you there, J! Ghostbusters '84 is my favorite movie of all time (22 years old). And this movie just was everything I had been dreaming of since I was a kid. I left the theater in tears with a huge smile on my face. A return to form, in my opinion. And Jason Reitman DEFINITELY chose the right form for this destructor of a movie. Got DAMN.

I love Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters 2 but god damn people need to get off Afterlife's nuts....The movie wasn't terrible or anything but the entire 3rd act was practically beat for beat 84...Maybe its time to realize that Ghostbusters like Fetch are never going to be a thing, so we should stop trying to make it a thing...3 movie and were cant do anything other than either some form of the original film or an exact beat for beat retread of the original film.....It shouldn't be this hard to make a Ghostbusters that isn't like the game constant callbacks or completely redoing the original...... Movies like Force Awakens and Ghostbusters Afterlife are a cancer...It tells them they don't have to try they just make constant callbacks and fill it to pull in the 30-40 year olds.....Maybe its because im not a sucker so I don't fall for the nostalgia traps but god damn they need some original fresh ideas instead of just repeating the entire 3rd act of the original film.

Enjoyed the crap out of this one. Emotional (imo they did a very good job being respectful and poignant) but also has a few laughs and some creepy scenes, and the nostalgia didn’t hurt the experience at all, in fact the references (save for literally only one or two) didn’t seem to intrude my viewing at all really. RLM and all the people saying this movie is only for the people who can spaz out and point at things like that Leonardo DiCaprio meme like “OH MY GOD YES, I KNOW THAT!1” seem to kinda be taking this movie so seriously, when even the original, it’s a supernatural sci-fi yet mundane horror that had a dry wit sense of humor, has moments where if you think way too deep, it doesn’t make much sense. But I love that original regardless and I love this one. It’s 8.5/10 at the worst for me, 9 if I’m feeling Christmas levels of jolly generous, which seems fair to me, but who knows if my opinions will change, maybe they will, maybe they won’t.

Consider this: Ray, Peter, and Winston face the effects of the containment field powering down again. Ray and Peter die, and Winston approaches the slightly older Pheobe and Trevor to help save New York, seeing Egon in them. Podcast hitches with them without permission. Lucky doesn't come. They face the final evil, Winston falls severely injured, and Lucky takes his place and they win. Winston lives but is out, and now we have the new four Ghostbusters. And then they don't try to make any more movies because they'll f it up. Perhaps Gary and the mom hook up and they move to New York for a new teaching job, or maybe they take an invitation from Winston to live there and get to learn more about Egon's life, or maybe Ray and Peter die helping to seal another evil being and Winston is just feeling guilty about Egon and wants a connection with them. They see things going to shit when Winston shows up battered and bloodied. Lucky somehow decides to come later for no apparent reason, maybe she comes of age and ditches the small town, maybe near New York for college, and she speeds into battle seeing her moved-away boyfriend and the kids on TV trying to save the world. Who knows why Podcast is even there. I'm calling it!

I liked it overall. Paul Rudd was a good addition to it. Wish we could've seen more. I get why they cast Finn from Stranger Things but Idk if it was editing or writing. But I didn't really care for his character. Could've been left out and it would've been fine. A few logical issues but nothing that took me out. Egon where he shows up...got me. He's my favorite ghostbuster. The way it was wrapped up was beautiful to me. I like the idea of him being trapped in the house after he died and in spirit, he helps Pheobe. WIshed we got a little bit more of that. Also, put some respect on Ernie Hudson's name! He is a great ghostbuster and addition to the film. And to find out he not only became a realtor and make a shit ton of money. He helped his friends when needed. Egon is my favorite. Ray 2nd. All four are good, but Ernie to me was the backbone of the team. Also, the idea of Ernie being the mentor/leader of another or more Ghostbusters team. Yes!! I think actors like Paul Rudd, Ryan Reynolds, Andy Samberg, Chris Pratt, Donald Glover, Jason Sudeikis, Channing Tatum. If Edgar wright were to direct and/or write. Have Simon Pegg and Nick Frost make a couple appearances as jokes.

Nice review guys! I saw this and I really enjoyed it! It had it's laughs and was emotional. Also Gozer was the big baddie not Zuul, Zuul was one of the terror dogs that possessed the Mom. I teared up when they showed Egon in ghost form. The great shot in the film was when they showed the four original Ghostbusters on an angle. That was a brilliant scene!

Yea Winston is talking with the secretary of the GB head quarters (I forget her name sorry) and they are going over what everyone brought to the table. Winston exclaims he brought his charisma, and during that time he says he bought back the firehouse and is there while the station wagon is being brought into the firehouse/GB HQ. He asks, what happened to you baby? Then a quick shot to the ghost holder at HQ that has a blinking red light then black.

We had to have the funeral movie to grieve the loss and now we can move forward. Next team will be in New York. My prediction is that Gary and family move back to New York and Gary becomes super involved with Ghostbusters and one of Winstons (Could be female) kids and also Oscar (I'm sure they will give him a nick name like Oz or something) and Gary would be three and a female as well. The struggle will come from Trevor wants to go back to be with Lucky and Podcast also will come to visit for summer or something. Phoebe and mom struggling to balance life and Ghostbusting where the mom just still wants her kids to be normal which is why she is convinced that is what her father wanted for her so that is what she wants for her kids. And of course Slimer will return. Maybe Louis will come back with Rick seeing the positive feedback of this film. Peter Can finally retire but an appearance would be awesome. Ray and Winston try to work together to train this new team for the new threat.

Really enjoyed this one, though it repeated the Gozer scenario a little too closely, right down to having the dog that the mom turns into do the same little look towards the camera. The only thing I'd actually call a disappointment was having Ivo Shandor turn out to still be alive, only to kill him immediately. It would have made no difference if he'd just been dead. Incidentally, Ray's bookstore comes from the second film, so this one did acknowledge it in the continuity.

It's nothing like the Goonies. The tones of the two movies and the acting styles are completely different. Goonies has lots of slapstick humour, ahead as the kids in Afterlife are much more serious, and more like the cast of The Monster Squad, or Stranger Things.

I was a massive fan of Ghostbusters as a kid, (being born the year of the first movie so I was able to see both back to back when I was 4)getting the action figures, trap that you could open with the blue button, my own proton pack, and overall I really liked this movie. I thought the pacing was great for character development and the ending got me for sure. To quote zombieland, I havent cried that much sense titanic. Overall an 8.5/10 for me and yes I did stay for both credit scenes but did you guys know that McKenna Grace has a song in the credits? I thought the song was catchy as well.

I absolutely LOVED this film! Have seen it twice now and both times you can just tell the rest of the audience had a blast with it as well. Definitely gave me some Amblin films type of vibe to it at times. Agree to disagree with you guys regarding Phoebe and the Dad jokes, several of those I thought were pretty damn funny and the audience seemed to enjoy them as well but it's all good if you guys didn't care for them as much. Out of the new characters her and Paul Rudd were definitely my favorite. Glad you guys enjoyed the movie though overall!

I loved Afterlife, if anything it could've used more of the OG's if not for more development of the story. Janine for example. What was her part in all this? If she knew where Egon was how much support did, she offer him? Why did she not tell the guys about his demise? Ray found out through Pheobe a week later. I hope they expound more on that story as well.

Gozer. Gozer is real big bad J. Zuul and Vinz Clortho are the gate keeper and key master are the demons Gozer needs to manifest in physical form. Btw, Gozer was played by an uncredited Oliva Wilde!!!! This movie was and is amazing. We (THE FANS) need to move past the expectation that afterlife is going to be the 84' Ghostbusters. It's just not realistic. It's like having the expectation that any shitty shark movie will top Jaws. No matter what we think as fans, this cherry has been popped. You can't see star wars for the first time twice. Follow? This movie is a movie in its own, and uses a trope that can only be replicated not reproduced. As for the future, it hope they do take a fully Winston funded new Ghostbusters team. I'd like for them to use McKenna Grace and bring her in and maybe bring in someone to play Oscar as an adult and other adults for a more established sequel.

Please watch 2016 again. I am the biggest Ghostbusters fan that has ever lived. The 2016 misses the original in a number of ways. But...there a lot of things that are good about the move. Leslie Jones is a blight, but if you go in knowing that she's there, you can look past it's flaws. It does a lot of things right, and Holzman is perfect. Also, Leslie Jones and Jar Jar Binks are the same character with all the same problems.
