I liked the first two. First better. I didn't think much of the remakes. I didn't like the stories or the actors but that's possibly because I'm biased. But I'm surprised they got Bill Murray back.

I’ve just come out of the cinema having watched this movie. I’m a long time Ghostbusters fan. This movie was unfortunately a disappointment. Whilst there were elements that had me hooked, the story was so poorly written that those elements were not enough to salvage this movie. I believe Sony should have turned their attention to a tv series, the idea behind this movie would have best been served by a series allowing expansion on the story so far for the Spenglers. Instead we get a first and second act bogged down by this and done so slowly it bled into the third act effectively destroying this movie. The “bad guy” was awesome, on paper, yet his build up, which had its foundations well rooted, was let down so badly by his lack lustre confrontation with the ghostbusters or shall we just say Phoebe. I still commend all those involved in this movie because, as a fan, they carry the torch for such a beloved movie “franchise”. I do believe there are enough fans out there to give hope to Sony that there is life left in this “franchise” yet, just maybe not in the way it was executed in this movie. Afterlife had a much better story and this movie had all the room to expand on it, instead it’s dwarfed by what was a glorified love letter to ghostbusters fans. Frozen Empire has missed a huge trick in gaining a new fan base and one feels they may have instead, cut a few ties with those willing to give ghostbusters another shot.

Just to add to this…. the Spenglers really shouldn’t be at the forefront of the “next generation”. Kids as Ghostbusters really doesn’t work, granted there is Rudd and Coon, but they act like the dumb parents along for the ride and aren’t relatable or believable as Ghostbusters. The original movie worked because it was believable that 3 men who were “into ghosts” having been pulled away from the teet of college research had to make it on their own in the real world, it just worked. Ghostbusters was a comedic but mature film and that was its bread and butter. These new films just don’t hit the mark. It pains me as a huge fan and even more so given that it really is a simple formula for Ghostbusters to work. Columbia need to look at the studios that made the conjuring films and the insidious films. Small budgets initially with HUGE BOX OFFICE success. Ghostbusters needs a real horror threat with a clever but comedic core with a higher level of maturity. I’ve watched Frozen Empire twice now and it really is just abysmally written.

This movie was almost a pile of hippo shit. The only thing that saved it was having the original cast make an appearance and Bill Murray's witty monologue (which paled to his 1980/90s banter). I never thought that writers could make a 'not-believable' premise even more not-believable with campy dialog, storyline, and fruitless, predictable humor. They should have ended it at Afterlife (or better Ghostbusters II). I really hope Godzilla x Kong doesn't disappoint next week...
