As a boy and a huge 'Ghostbusters' fan I bought 'Ghostcatcher', one of a range of cheap-and-cheerful LCD games produced by Grandstand here in the U.K. They bought the rights to distribute foreign LCD games as well as making their own; Ghostcatcher was about a guy in a graveyard who had to stop ghosts... returning to their graves?! The game was re-cased and re-released a few times, and despite the un-Ghostbusers gameplay, 'Ghostcatcher' was likely a rename to cash in on 'Ghostbusers' - (but hey, it worked for me!) It wasn't that uncommon for LCD game processors to be repurposed, with the LBC graphics altered to basically kitbash new different games by the companies that issued the,... and I have sneaky feeling 'Ghostblaster' seen in this video might be such a case.

...Looking at that Ghost Blaster game, I'm reminded of a Tiger Electronics cat and mouse game where you're a mouse trying to get the cheese and escape the cat while running around in a maze... and then I realized that Ghost Blaster is the exact same game but with different graphics.

That Ghostblasters game strongly resembles a harry potter Tiger game I got from a party years ago (in terms of actual gameplay). You wondered a maze dodging the troll and zapping enemies with your wand. The Casing for it was far more impressive though (had a Harry an Troll Figure on top).

I think Triotoys "repurposed" Grandstand/Tiger Electronics' _Mouse Maze_ for _Ghostblaster._

I just realized why this looked familiar. It is tiger electronics mouse maze game. I had this as a kid with the characters just changed to ghost and ghost blasters.Even plays thee same music and sounds.

Was watching some Phelous reruns and this new BZ video pops up! I thought it would never arrive.

Those weird satellite dish guns really remind me of the one used by the blue player character in Alien Storm.

The look of the characters on the Ghostblaster game reminds me of how the characters and weapons look in the old Sega game Alien Storm. They used weapons that kinda functioned like proton packs, but looked like that instead.

$#!t, how did I miss this video?! I still have loads of LCD games from the 1980s, including the official GHOSTBUSTERS one. However, I also really, really loved "GHOSTCATCHER"...!

I *think* what's hapening in the Ghost Hunter is Ghosts appear on either side and you have to zap them before they reach the middle. So you have to go up and down and face left or right to zap them at the right height to get rid of them. That "ball" bit is a dumb neutral pose, I think. The "neutral" is the only thing that messes up my theory, since I recall seeing ghosts show up at that height that you can't do anything about. So it's kinda like playing a really awkward game of 2 sided Centipede.

Of course the GhostBlasters game is from the UK. That explains that _disGUSTING_ "Yellow Submarine" art style for the Boogerman. Incidentally, they changed the name from "Busters" to "Blasters", not because of any copyright issues, but to remove any reference to silent movie actor Buster Keaton. Apparently his commitment to doing his own stunts-which were very dangerous in their own right-was deemed a bad influence on kids.

Ghostblaster seems to have a ton more gameplay than most of these stupid cheap LCD games. It would be a lot better without the background behind the LCD lines, though, since the walls blend into the curbs.

I doubt this is related but I remember mcdonalds coming out with sorta knock off lcd handhelds a few times throughout the 90s and early 2000's, my brains saying no way its connected but my gut says I should comment this.
