The engineering is nice. I hope Hasbro would do a 1984 version based off the majority of these parts.

I love the attention to detail and cannon. The fact that they added the functions introduced in the Ghostbusters Video game (which really was Ghostbusters 3) make being a fan all the more cohesive. Looking forward to the Afterlife movie. Love this franchise!

Maybe Hasbro is “testing” waters with this wand. They also produce the Star Wars “Black Series”, which seems to sell really well. Maybe we’ll get a trap, goggles, PKE Meter and a pack.

Great review. Totally gonna get it. It's not fair though IMO to compare the price because this is a MASS release product. Mattycollector was more limited and more of a specialty store type of thing, so it's understandable that this one would be cheaper as a ton more are being made for retail stores.

I missed out back in 2013 with the Matty Collector version.. but obviously it was well worth the wait as I’ve ordered this new one.. I’m very impressed! The sound effects (even the base ones compared directly) are far superior! The lighting effects, far superior! The additional features, the accuracy and attention to detail.. the list goes on! I can’t wait! I’ve never actually held a movie wand in my hands before...

I love how the prop team for GB Afterlife simultaneously downgraded, aged, and upgraded the wand all at the same time.

The 2013 Matty wand is pretty sturdy. I use it in my cosplay and it holds up well being active dozens of times during a three day convention period.

Looks like some real thought went into this piece. It's also amazing to see tasteful updates to a classic design. Very promising when it comes to the new film

Ya blew my damn mind, thanks for the comparison and the fact that it included all the stuff from the game was incredible. With luck, they'll produce an original style (with the added effects from the game!), with the small details corrected like the missing button at some point, and a full sized pack that is ready to accept this wand at some point. It would be a perfect bridge for those of us who want something better than the Spirit pack and can't afford or don't want to buy and then build a full GBFans pack.

Just ordered one of these this past weekend. Looking forward to playing with it when arrives this weekend. Update: This is one of the most fun items that Hasbro has done since the got the license for Ghostbusters. I really like that the sounds from the 2009 video game were included, plus the level of detail is amazing. I also got a second Nutrona Wand to modify into the look from Ghostbusters (1984) and mount on my Spirit Halloween Proton Pack.

I modded the spirit wand as well when I dd the pack. It's still small, but looks 1000% better.

Yeah I had to end up selling my Matty wand. I was going to use it for my fiberglass pack, but it was getting so valuable on the market it felt kind of nuts to have it at the peril of public cons and events. Especially since it was replacing my handmade wand that broke into when my pack fell to the side while it was on the hook.

I want them to release an actual original wand. I don’t even care if it’s not any different from the afterlife one in any way besides the outer shell, I love the original wand so much more. Would’ve been even cooler if it came with replacement grips just to change the look.

nice comparison, i never got the matty wand so i got this hasbro spengler one for sure and i love it. its hard to compare though as others have said as its a mass product whereas matty was made in much smaller numbers i believe. its nice to see the differences though side by side. I got the pke meter and the ecto goggles from matty though and they are great to have too.

Hes the only one ive seen talked about the hook of the wand...cause in the films they hooked the wands to there belts a few times, one thing i wished they included in the 2009 video game

Wow thanks for the comparision those look awesome. So much details. Any recommendation for the best wand & proton pack set up for a toddler best for the money. Would you fork out the money for RGB 80s one or get the spirit one, I believe the Afterlife version for kids won't be out till next year. There are also some great lightweight builds out there that look great but I'd love to have lights and sound too. Thanks for any feed back and thanks for the information great video 👍😃

I wonder how long the batteries last,.. i think i would try and 3d print the loom-adapter with an insert to pass trough some actual electrical wires and put a better PSU in the pack. Seems fitting since it`s the pack that suplies the power in the movies.

Pulling the barrel back is what the trigger banjo is for. So you don't have to put your hand over the muzzle. That also explains why it's bent/been repaired.

Beautiful. It does show that the price has hiked up a little, to 124.99 at both Hasbro and Entertainment Earth. On Hasbro it looks like it's a pre-order, to release in December of 2022. On Entertainment Earth it shows an earlier release date of February 2022 (I wonder why EE is getting it 10 months earlier).

Just went to the movie. There's supposed to be both a button to shoot the end out (Peter says "make em hard") but the black handle twisted (in guessing too make sure it stays locked in). I wish i could attach the screen shots.

I was watching the first Ghostbusters movie and I noticed something. They don't use the green switch next to the intensity button to extend the barrel. During their battle with Gozer while holding the neutrino wand Peter says " Make em hard" they twist the front grip counter clockwise causing the barrel to extend. It happens real quick but I find it interesting that Mattel didn't incorporate this feature on their replica. Which leads me to believe that the Matty wand is based on Ghostbusters 2. I could be wrong but I thought I'd share my opinion.

Jason Reitman made a mistake in Afterlife. In the peactice shooting wand scene the order Phoebe uses is wrong, in fact in the scene the propmaster didn't even have a functioning bargraph for the prop. The Matty wand activate switch is actually the most accurate to GB1 and GB2.The Activate switch is staggered in the canon so the wand remembers if it is on or off when you turn on or off the main electric power (lower right toggle switch). The upper right toggle switch is just the bargraph and warning lights. The activate activates the cyclotron. If activate is already flipped (cyclotron set to active, then as soon as you turn on electrical power (using the right lower switch) will start the deep bass start up sound. If the activate switch was not on then hitting the lower right switch will just produce an alectric start up sound like the Matty and Hasbro wands. Heck the Hasbro wand even fires without an extended barrel which the Matty wont. I have both and in terms of functionality the Matty is more realistic or in canon.

Is it possible to remove the grips on the new Hasbro wand? Just wondering if its possible to revert it back to a more classic grip style. I wonder if having the batteries in the hilt would make it harder to connect functionality between the wand and a pack light/sound system.

I picked it up, and I love every bit of it, (though the tape effect isn't that great). Except for Spirit Halloween, it is my first. Halloween one is suddenly trash. It is great for the price, but it is going up to $250. I got it for $150. I like how they included an adapter to connect it to the pack. I don't know what I would change if would.

Can’t wait for Spongeface /Ghostlab42 to release a kit to run this to back to my pack and have all the modes for lights available. In the mean time I am totally soldering an aux jack into the handle. Then I can mount a speaker in my pack and run an audio cable through the connector hose to it.

I ordered mine the same week the Haslabs pack released and on my haslabs account I still show a 6-1-2022 release date and have never received an email about the different tip so I think some people are still getting a silver tip while others will get an orange tip now

Newsflash, the yellow lighting to the Afterlife wand is because back in the 80's it was very expensive to get L.E.D lighting as it was in its infancy. So the yellowish tint from old lighting is all they had to work with back then whicu is why its STILL has that yellow tint. That color is screen accurate. Im so excited to get my Spangler wand this Summer and start working on a light smoke mod on the end, and get my proton pack in 2023 when they ship and ik gonna mod that with a little smoke as well. Ill wire them up so when I press the button it will put the vape pen into a preheat so it will heat up smoke and when I release the button it will release smoke at the end. Im also gonna have smoke come out of my pack as an overheat and ill wore that to a button as well that I can press to release the overheat like in the game. So many people forget about the "3rd movie" which is the GAME. Edit: Im glad to see they added the overheat function and other parts from the game cause that legit makes my job both easier AND harder cause now ill have to wire and program something to release the smoke when it overheats. If im lucky ill be able to tap into their control

He missed some features on the Matty wand like the stream crossing ability with another Matty wand and the audio jack in the back that can be connected to a sound board so you can use a proton pack with it

Always found it a bit odd that these wands (and ones built by people) always have the overheat effect in them, it was a reload game mechanic so you couldn't fire the blast stream constantly, yet people seem to always incorporate it. 🤨
