This is the place for dungeons and dragons to show up a lot along with D&D tabletop roleplaying games and character creation. Is this a ASMR calming video about nerd culture tabletop and characters? Also journalling that can be enjoyed with roleplay and an original character helps the Algorithm. Did you know that saying dungeons & dragons in the video as well as journaling character design tabletop aesthetic vibes and others helps the KZfaq algorithm discern your worthiness? Yes, it does listen to every word such as gamer girl, nerdy, geek culture, dnd dice, development and design factors the repetition of these words into it's almighty equation. Hopefully this offering of dungeons and dragons roleplay character journal tour pleases the Algorithm.
May it show me mercy. ✌

👋 Hey you! I'm glad you think my videos are good. 🙂Thanks so much for introducing me to D&D when I was so scared off about the math of the older editions lol. My tabletop journey wouldn't have gone very far without that! But I also appreciate our Amber campaign just as much, definitely gave me a good perspective on how much tabletop roleplay can vary.

@@aLuckyMuse I'm glad to have helped you find something which brings you joy. I've definitely been leaning much more towards narrative-focused games over mechanically heavy ones these days. Despite how much I can like solid crunch (I've been running Pathfinder 2e for some time now), the collaborative storytelling and character development is really where my heart lies. I'm liking what I've experienced of Daggerheart for those very reasons. Game On! 😁

This is some solid stuff. PErsonally, I like to apply the Parker Method to my characters' backstories. Write out a basic timeline of the character's early life. Major milestones only. Now, for every important thing on that list that would be celebrated, add a tragedy that taints it. First day of school? Parent dies. First crush? Other person that likes the crush gets jealous and stabs the character leaving a permanent scar. First date? Was a setup for a prank. Graduate from school? Drafted into the military. Peter Parker remains a compelling and relateable character after 60 years of writing for one reason: He suffers. Like a real person, he never actually wins, he just takes his bad with his good and pushes forward. That's the Parker Method.

oooo fascinating. It's really cool how we develop these formulas to make world/story/character building easier/richer and there are definitely similarities present. In the end it's all about figuring out how you can get a more interesting outcome that teases the imagination rather then feeling like a cardboard cutout.

Ohhh thats such a good idea actually! I have a character that I'm still writing the backstory for and that sounds like a good method for drama (:

Just stumbled upon your channel. Great video, immediately subscribed, even though it is not really something new or me. I work on my own system and in that the haunt (ghost) and the misconception (misbelief) are central traits on the character sheet. Since I love me character driven narratives and games as well. I jut go a step further, and have the players tie those traits to the theme of the game, to make them relevant and not feel like just some vainglory display that does not add anything to over overarching narrative that forms.

oh i love that! I love when you can work with the other people at the table to get backstories more deeply tied into the overall narrative and potentially to each other where it can come out in play.

The ghost of the character I'm currently building - his family were killed by gnolls. Those same gnolls took him in and raised him among them so that they would have someone who could gather intelligence without garnering as much notice as a bunch of gnolls hanging around might. He was taken so young that, despite being a half-orc, he believes himself to be a gnoll, he can't speak orc, but he is fluent in gnoll. He believes he is a gnoll, even though he clearly bears little resemblance to the gnolls he was raised among. 🤍

Oh! Very nice! Now that's going to be pretty dramatic misbelief to try to break by any other characters. It threatens his whole identity up to this point!
@KidarWolf
@KidarWolf 2 ай бұрын
@@aLuckyMuse It absolutely is going to be dramatic if anyone does break his belief in his own identity. I just hope that if it does happen, he doesn't completely lose his temper and lash out, because between him and his hyaenodon animal companion, they're going to be scary in a fight.
