I'm seeing a motility specialist in June. I've injured my peristalstic function from years of laxative abuse. I am miserable with constipation ... lifelong. I am also on several psychotropic drugs (no opiates) which probably don't help. The anticholigeneric druhs like Bentyl and Phenergan for my extreme pain paradoxically exacerbate the constipation. My Fodmaps diet, lots of water, probiotics, exercise, etc. No good. Have tried all motility drugs from amitiza to Trulance .. nothing. I bloat with fiber and Miralax. This presentation helps explain why.

Please give me a hint, i have a chronic air hunger due to a damage to vagus nerve from a virus, my peristalsis doesnt work, i have airway reflux as a consequence. Can it be reversed? Shoud i take something to boost acetylcholine? Thanks!

Hi can I ask how does the intrinsic neural plexus regulate motility? Also can the GI smooth muscle contract without any input from the intrinsic and extrinsic neural plexus influence>
