I live in a small town and all the vets don’t see rabbits, even the big city near me had no one who could see my rabbit. He’s 11 years old and came down with GI stasis two days ago and you just saved him. He’s back to eating and jumping around and playing. PSA After taking my rabbit to the emergency vet, I was made aware that rabbits can only tolerate about 30 mg of Asprin DAILY, and that this amount can cause kidney and liver issues. Please keep this in mind when attempting at home treatments, and if you do take your rabbit to the vet tell them everything you have given your rabbit, as there may be drug interactions with their treatment plan versus this at home attempt.

AN IMPORTANT TIP I WANT TO SHARE WITH ALL BUNNY OWNERS! When our bunny was 2 years old he developed GI stasis. The emergency vet told us to give him a small serving of fresh pineapple everyday -- not canned or dried, but fresh. He explained that fresh pineapple contains the enzyme bromelain, which would help break down fur that rabbits ingest from grooming. We followed his instructions. Our beloved bunny passed away at 13, and in all those years never got GI stasis again.

You just saved my bunny!!! He had stopped eating for 6 hours and wasn’t moving. I couldn’t get a vet appointment as well. I found this video and followed the instructions. Even after 6 hours of giving him these meds, he still wasn’t eating. Then I tried to force feed him through a syringe (mashed some pellets with water)….he barely took some. I was so worried! But I kept up the medicine regiment and he was starting to look better but still wasn’t eating….I also gave him a belly massage and encouraged him to walk a bit. Within 24 hours of starting this regiment, he started eating!! Now he’s back to being himself. Running around and eating normally. I also can’t emphasize the importance of a proper belly massage. I realized I was doing it wrong. You have to move his belly and his cecum side to side. The cecum isn’t all the way until the tail end of his body…right before his genitals. And you massage by gently applying some pressure up and moving his underside side to side. After I did that to him, he immediately started eating again. It also helps to pick up his back legs so they are off the floor and are hanging in air…with his front legs still resting on the floor. That also dislodges things and helps them feel better. Also, when you offer food…offer a variety of different options. It’s important to offer things he’s already used to. And celery is really good in hydrating them.

I’m having this issue right now with my rabbit it’s been up for 24 hours and she has not touched any of her favorite vegetables or her favorite snacks. I’m extremely concerned because this is happened before but it never lasted this long and I’ve got her since birth. She is my baby. My whole world. I lost my bunny today. She was 15 months old. I have never loved anything as much as her. Her second time with stasis. The first time I got her to the vet in time. She started showing same symptoms two days ago, so I did the protocol and she bounced back. She was curled up next to me in bed last night licking my face. Tonight she went downhill again and started the protocol again plus critical care food. She died in my arms tonight. I am so mad at the universe right now.

Thank you so much for this video!! When I went to feed my bunny last night he would t eat and was miserable. I found your video and quickly went and got what I needed from the store. I was able to get 81mg aspirin and I got 10mg Famotidine for the acid controller. I already had Simethicome and had given him that. I mixed up 1 aspirin with half a Famitidine in warm water and gave it to him. 2 hours later I gave him another dose, minus the aspirin. Within 4 hours he was back to normal and is doing great today! Hey yall I had a GI stasis scare this summer and this video helped so much. We did end up seeing a vet to get fluids- but he said this was a great home remedy any time you think your bun has gas discomfort. BUT- he said to leave the aspirin out. I've used this trick a few times- (he never needed all of it), with any signs of gas- early signs of digestive issues, and within 1/2 hour my buns back to his silly happy self.

We could not find a vet that was open, as it was a holiday. But I found your video and ran to the drugstore that afternoon. Ranitidine is no longer available, so I got Cimetidine instead. We dosed him every couple of hours. In the middle of the night, I checked on him, and he was finally eating and moving around! I also ended up getting critical care for him and bringing him to the vet (which really only confirmed the diagnosis), and it's now 10 days later and he seems to be as good as new! I lost my bunny 6 months ago and I’m still not over it. As soon as I saw that he wasn’t eating as much as usual I brought an Uber took him to the vet because the closest vet from my home was 1 hour away. Unfortunately for me the vet just happened be unreliable. He told us to just give him pineapple juice and force feed him when we asked him if we had the food so we could buy it he didn’t and he gave us 14 ml syringes for an 8 pound bunny. Luckily for us we made sure to feed him more. We was better and Jumping and eating again so we decided to stop force feeding and we continued our normal routine. But that was our one error the vet didn’t give us any instructions on how long to force feed, how much to force feed, signs he was getting better, when we should get a check up. All we got was hundreds of dollars to pay. I looked on the internet for sources and that was when I found the exact amount we were supposed to feed him and the information that after he starts getting better you have to continue to force feed at least a little for 2 extra weeks. Looking back I wish we had gone to the vet that we got him neutered at which was 2 hours away. He got sick on Valentine’s Day and died exactly 2 weeks later because of that one fatal mistake because we didn’t know any better. My story is just advice for anyone who might read this that sometimes your expect your vet to help your pet get better but that isn’t always the case. Look on forums for other pet owners experiences and watch videos on how to care for your pet and how find the exact amount to feed your pet based on their weight and have express shipping or the tools needed for your pet at hand (critical care and you can look online for what owners used to reduce stomach gas) because sometimes you could do everything right but your vet won’t help you the way you expected them to. If I could go back in time I would have spent any amount of money to help him get better he was truly like a dream even in him last minutes, while I held him in my hands and petted him he purred.

This is crazy! My bunny is a year old. Yesterday she was fine. A little slower than usually because usually she's so crazy and happy. But today she's the complete opposite 💔. I posted on my fb bunny groups and they all said GI stasis. This is exactly what she's doing. Except her poops are coming out more stinky and wet. But I think taking away pellets and just straight hey for a while will help. Thank you! Hopefully I'll find everything tomorrow since everything's closed here right now 😭.

Pulled an all nighter with my baby because he hasn’t pooped or eat and I just got him 3 days ago. He had issues the very next morning, so I’ve been worried ever since. I went to CVS the moment they opened and I just made this. I’m praying it works. 🥺🥺

I’m going to get a baby rabbit later this year and have been watching a lot of bunny videos. I’m of the opinion that pellets are not good food mainly because they contain oil. I don’t eat processed oils any more because they cause gastrointestinal damage or leaky gut. There are no pellets in the wild. I’m sure it’s fun for the owner to feed them on a snuffle mat or by hand, but ultimately they are not healthy. I’m going to use florals on my snuffle mat instead.

So my bunny is still drinking water and eating a little bit of hay every once in awhile. She is also cleaning herself, but I am hearing the gargling or bubbling in her tummy when she lays down lounging like a normal bun relaxing.

If your in Australia get low dose aspirin. My bun is a mini I used 1 whole tablet it’s 100mg . Only gave one for the day . I used baby infacol 1 ml ever hour with some water . And I used somac . 1/4 tablet with water and spread that over two doses . Literally within an hr of the somac he did so much poop . 😭🙏🏻

My rabbit has gi stasis. I took her to the vet yesterday. They gave my rabbit vaccination..still he is not eating just drinking water. Today also i took her to the vet they gave him the vaccine. Its been two days he is not eating anything and just drinking water. I have tried massages and i think he likes it buy still he is not eating anything. I am very scared as the doctor has not prescribed any medicines only vaccinations and i can't see movements. He is just laying and drinks in few hours. I have no money to buy critical care.What to do???

My baby girl LuLu is a 7 yo Harlaquin. She had been lethargic, not being her active self eating less and once I realized she was incontinent both urine and feces she literally took a turn for the worse and now she's extremely bloated and miserable. Day one when trying to adjust her she did most terrifying short scream 4 times; literally lost it and have been bawling not knowing what to do and really just waiting for her to pass. Though were at 48 hrs now of what I'm pretty sure is GI stasis I have found this video and so far down 1 treatment. The only thing is I could only find the jell tabs for simethicone but making it work and radatidine is no longer on shelf but replaced with Cimetidine 200 mg (Tagamet) along with baby aspirin 81 mg. Her bloating has went down some; rubbing her tummy as instructed my question to those who this has worked for: about how long until at least an improvement of 50% to 75%>100% better did it take? Any suggestions or further remedies? I'm worried bcs a lot of my Lulu's symptoms don't match all the others but I also think she may have went further into before catching realizing or identifying the real problem. I'm so distraught and worry, already feel terrible for her suffering God willing she come out of this and we too get good results like many of you. I can only find famotidine that does up to 20 mg but you said to get a dosage similar to what you used in the video which was 35 mg is what you use right? Could I use the 10 milagram and use like 3 and a half to get to the same dosage????

Mixing meds with crushed pellets and water, into a slurry, makes assist feeding with a syringe much easier for several reasons... not the least of which being your pet will recognize the smell. Go very slowly when syringe feeding or you run a great chance of aspirating your pet. Learn how much to give at a time (1ml or less for the little guys) and how much your pets stomach can even hold. Do more research than just this video on syringe feeding rabbits by watching videos on syringe feeding cats; it's a similar concept and lots of videos showing proper technique. Be very careful mixing meds with rabbits, lots of common foods have serious reactions when combined with meds and rabbits. Accurate info is relatively easy to find online, spend 30 minutes and learn from people with more experience rather than risking your pet's life. It's easy if you learn how to do it properly... this video glossed over some good things and left out some vital things. Do some research and save your pet.
