GIANT CLAMS Catch and COOK! Coastal Foraging, Niantic River Connecticut!

We find hundreds of big clams in waist deep water in the Niantic River in Connecticut! We use a special clam rake to rake them out of the mud! I then meet you back in my kitchen in Florida to have a seafood boil! Where we cook up clams, lobsters, shrimp, and a bunch of other stuff! Easy and fun meal to have with family and friends!

I hope you and family try cooking up some of those large snails sometime as it's good bi-catch to make use of. You might get hooked. And with your ability to find, alter and create great recipes you'd hone in on a few ways to enjoy. Escargot with garlic cheese and more. My step dad was Scottish and loved to buy 'Winkles' from the market, cook a large batch then soak em in the brine in the fridge overnight. We would all have a bowl ful the next day and use sewing pins to remove the foot then remove the snail from the shell. It was alot of fun. I brought a container full to school for show and tell and handed everyone pins to try the snails. Everyone was properly grossed out, then ALL tried them and most enjoyed them. I miss those days.

Raking is hard work. More fun in the summer to stomp the mud and pick them up when you feel one with your feet. Used to do that in Southern NJ.

It's Sunday 2/25/24, I woke up really early and fell back to sleep to dream about clamming. So, I Google to look for the video to see the location I dreamt about. The 1st video was not it. Then this video with this river in Connecticut a place I have never heard of. I will be watching to see what becomes of this place in the future on the news. I will document this in my journal to note this entry. Enjoyed the video.

Hi! It’s look delicious ! Perhaps 2 little things: First: put yours mushrooms into water with vinegar to clean them. Second : you should use the cook jus to make a good sauce very easily : take 2 spoons of corn flour (or classic flour if you don.t have) and ad it in a glass of cold water ( important to not make some grumeaux) . Take some cooking jus, ad the water with flour, some piment d.espelette, and put it on strong fire but never stop turning it. If you’re not it’s can burn... when it’s became more thick, it’s good ! Kiss from France !

Hi Brook. It is so nice to watch you and your family enjoying clam for a dinner. I have been watching your and Victor's videos for quiet sometime now and i must say I enjoyed it very much. I am from the Philippines and i was watching you and your family eating the clams, etc on the table, i was reminded of the way we eat that way back here in the Philippines especially when we are with our friends or families. We call it a Booodle fight way of eating. We would cook variety of food and after which we will set it on top of the table and we all eat standing with our bare hands, and i guarantee we enjoyed it. 😊 You can watch thru the net and learn how it is prepsred. Enjoy❤

The only easy way I have found to "bring my clams" with me after a vacation stay has been to steam them, then take the open mostly cooked clams and freeze them and use the broth you just steamed them in as the liquid. Make basically a clam ice block and you can bring your catch with you. But the down side is it limit what you can do with them later. We mostly eat them raw they day we catch them or make chowder if we cook them. Good video, really shows the workout that clamming is. Keep it up you two.
