You are right. Little wings mean the aircraft has to fly fast.

The model must be very light. Small jet in the back, fuel at the wings, rest in the nose.

@@ArneChristianRosenfeldt model data in the description. No fuel tank in the wings or in the nose. The turbine isn't small 😉

I meant at the length of the wings. You cannot let center of mass shift when you use up fuel. The correct airfoil for 380 km/h (impressive speed, illegal in my country) is thick and would have plenty of space. I meant compared to a real F-104 ( which is basically only engine) the JetCat is shorter.@@RCScaleAirplanes

Spectacular. As so many usually say - how it flies with so little wing area is amazing. Very expertly piloted and making full use of that 550 motor... low passes really nice. Landing - perfect. :)

I saw a video about a fan jet. I think that is the largest you can get for a reasonable budget. Still to small for 1:1. Why can’t anyone build a derated star fighter engine? It is single spool. For sub sonic you get away with aluminum compressor. I would love to see a two spool though. Use a jetcat and this heli turbine to drive the axial compressor. It needs an ugly drive shaft, but uh, it is only RC !

The United States F-104 aircraft is absolutely the coolest jet aircraft that the United States produced. I love it. I loved it as a child watching it, in a lot of sci-fi movies I've never seen one up close and in person but man that is just one beautiful rocket ship.

Really great to see the F-104 RC in the tipless configuration. On the down side - the rel airplane has a -5° angle sitting on the ground - this otherwise fine model seems to have more lige a +5° and probably not possible but I'd love to a landing using a drag chute in an RC version

Good choice. Even the smaller one (1/4 scale) is quite large. Ali is an excellent pilot. You can definitely trust him. He was allowed to fly this Starfighter 3 times during the AIRMEET. The F-104 had already had its maiden flight a few weeks earlier.

@@RCScaleAirplanes and he knows I am a big fan of the F-104. I flew my 90mm F-104 at Best in the West two years ago, he presented me my trophy for best EDF for it. Maybe I will do the 1/4 scale first because it is easier to get here in the US.

Fastest plane at sea lvl..988.26 MPH in 1977. Leading edges were so sharp they had to put covers on them to prevent hanger rash.😊

Thank you very much for your kind comment which I really appreciate. By the way. The color scheme and markings are modeled after an original Starfighter flown by an experienced pilot in the 1960's. He was amazed when Trond showed him the model.

@@RCScaleAirplanes …yes, looks stunning and he didn’t exaggerate the weathering. The F104 hardly had any oil leaking just some rubbing on the tips because of sand and dust in the air, later the Tornadoes had oil leaks due to high pressure hydraulic and a different sealing😉

Perfektes Video Horst! Alleine die Startphase bei 0:42, eine 1/1 Scene aus dem Film "The Right Stuff", als Chuck Yeager mit der F104 abhebt & im Abflug von der Bahn das Fahrwerk einzieht - MEGA! Ganz großes Lob an Minute 05:30, perfekter Winkel um den Startfighter wie eine manntragende Maschine aussehen zu lassen! Alle Daumen hoch mein Freund! PS: Kleine Randnotiz & nur meine persönliche Meinung. Finde es nur ich nervig, dass die lästige Drohe jede perfekte Foto-, Film- & Tonaufnahme zerstört, indem sie kreischend durch die Linse saust?

Hi Hannes. Vielen Dank für deinen tollen Kommentar. Ali fliegt die F-104 hervorragend. Schön weiträumig und ohne überraschende Manöver. Da kommt man gut mit dem Filmen hinterher. Ja ... das mit der Drohne ist schon störend, aber zum Glück war sie nur kurz bei der Landung im Weg. Störender ist bei Flugtagen immer die laute Hintergrundmusik, die KZfaq nicht gerne hört. Allein für dieses Video habe ich mindestens zwei Stunden damit verbracht, die Musik zu unterdrücken, ohne den Sound der Turbine zu verlieren. VG, Horst

That pilot must be dizzy after these manouvres! 😉The way things are going, wont be long before 1:1 scale RC are on youtube. F104, One of my top five all time favourite jet aircraft. along with B52, F14, F4 Phantom and SR71.
