Really good review, you're extremely enjoyable to watch. This bike makes loads of sense for the UK, all be it with a more analogue suspension (less stuff to go wrong... I am suspicious as to how a live well a "live valve" will survive the lakes district rain and gloop). The basic model at £6k sounds great value. As a thought, could you do a nerdy episode on the future of batteries? I was working out that the new 4680 batteries coming to Tesla may be up to 135 watt hours from a 150 gram battery, though some leaked info indicates that the batteries may only be 80-90 watts each. The point is that it could be a 1.5kg battery may be good for 800 watts, so better than half the weight of the current battery generation which is mainly 18650s or 2170s which are >5 year old tech. Conclusion the new batteries may shave 2kg of the weight of a bike while extending the range for back country epics.

KEEP the awesome vids coming! i just picked up my Giant Trance x advanced a few days ago :) just fyi, and sure it's been comented on before. The video camera while you ride is not ideal (great close ups and video when not moving). it's pretty bad. lots of pixilation, looks like there is rain on the lens and it is out of focus in different points of the feed. just one opinion.

Rode my Trance e+ for the first time a couple of days ago. I got the same question multiple times "does it feel like a real bike?" I said yes, but feels like I have super strong legs 😆

The Giant motors are beasts. I tuned all my levels up to their maximum and I can ride everywhere on just level 2 (125% assistance). I rarely need to go higher.

I own the same bike(next model down), it’s my first Ebike and I chose it for many of the reasons you pointed out. It climbs awesome, the range is pretty good but will be buying the range extender. On steep tech rides I only get about 19 miles. My non ebike is a Ibis HD5 so I can for sure tell difference with pure trail bike geo and the enduro geo on the Ibis. I love trail bikes though and I have to say that the meastro suspension is smooth as butter on all bumps! Anyways thanks for the great fun review! Looking forward to seeing more of your experience on it compared to mine.

I demo the 2022 Trace E+ Pro at the So Cal Moto show back in Nov 2022. The Trance E+ is a great eMTB, the new motor has great power and is quite, the geo of the frame is spot on. Giant did their homework with the Trance E+. I wanted to buy one this year, but can find any in the So Cal area, so maybe in 2023. Looking forward to Sam's review of the Trance E+.

I would have thought that Live Valve wouldn't really be necessary on an Ebike as the reason you firm the suspension on a normal bike when climbing is to increase pedal efficiency by reducing the amount of suspension bob where that energy can be put into pedaling and not be lost in moving the suspension unnecessarily. On and Ebike you have a motor to help you so you are not so concerned with efficiency and having the suspension less firm should give you better traction on the climb. Same reason that you can usually climb better on a full suspension bike than a hardtail, as the suspension allows the wheel follows the terrain, giving you more grip.

Yeah man get your girlfriend on an ebike. Mine said she would never mountain bike, then she had a go on a Liv ebike last summer in Whistler. Now she is riding a small Decoy and loving it. Only green trails around here so far for her, but she will take lessons in the Spring. Maybe we'll join you both in Spain for a ride one day.

I ride a devinci troy 170 /148 mullett.giants are very nice.id upgrade the trance to a bigger fork 160/170.betterrubber up front.assegi DD...would slacken out ur head angle a bit.also raise BB a bit better for rock strikes n yes would slacken seat tube.i just slide saddle forward to compensate U probably have a steepest s.tube angle to play with anyway.great review.cheers

Hey, if the chainstays work for your style, then go for it. I think my stays are too long on my Gen 2 levo at 455 on an xl. Wish they could make a full fatty on levo sl geo.

How does the bottom end lower cadence support feel.it seems to lack alot when compared against the bosch gen 4 cx.

Well done on the bike shakedown, last year in New Zealand 🇳🇿 there was a lot of people waiting for the extender batteries which never showed up in masses for those adventure rides. That's why I went with the Orbea Wild FS M-Ltd, 26.5kg with 1125wh clipped on the bike for the longer rides or Races.... Also has 160mm travel Front and Rear. What weight is the Reign with the extender battery?

Sam. I'm a few weeks away from my Trance X E+1 landing here in New Zealand. I'm thinking I'll extend the fork travel to 160mm as its a simple and cheap option. What do you think about increasing the 150mm to 160mm?

What glasses are you wearing ?

My Reign E+ 2022 has a little rattle... Are you sure? Plus I don't like the sound when it is cutting off (when you stop pedaling). Otherwise it works really great. Shimano rattles more and is louder, that is correct. Feel and power-wise it is on par.

How would you compare this bike vs the Levo SL and Orbea Rise?

How was the resistance past it's speed limit? Thought without tolerance/ rattling it would have some.
