The old Yamaha motor in my 2021 Trance E+ was the best I ever rode - apart from the size and weight - but now it’s fixed with this new one. I would take this bike over anything on the market, great job Giant!

I really like that the battery cover is now separate from the battery. On my 2019 Trance E+, it's essentially one piece, so for situations or places where they don't allow e-bikes, it's less-than-ideal to have the compartment completely exposed when riding without the battery.

I clapped eyes on the bike for the first time, yesterday at DMC in Shrewsbury and the first thing that caught my eye was the cockpit and the integration of the controller into the bike. Given that their previous attempt at designing and building a controller fit for purpose was nigh on a complete failure with either water ingest or the mounting bracket constantly snapping, this time I really do think they have got it right. The ergonomics of the controller itself is natural and clean and just blends into the cockpit seamlessly. More importantly and this was only my first impression, it seemed to be more robust and securely mounted onto the handlebar than it’s previous incarnation. Only time will tell if this indeed is a controller fit for the purpose of shredding. So happy that Giant have given their customers the option between choosing a Alloy or Carbon frame. Personally, I wouldn’t touch carbon with a barge pole but that’s just me. This bike is definitely gonna give the likes of Cube, Specialized, Orbea and Trek a run for their money, this bike can no longer be described as inexpensive. Even with the entry level, you’re not gonna get much change out of £6K.

Went and sat on one of these yesterday as some places are doing great discounts. Loved it, might need to buy one!

I converted my 2020 Reign E to a mullet just before they announced this new model...now its an absolute beast. This one will need to be really good out of the box to see me upgrade..The battery size is subjective to the individual. I get the same out of my 500 WH as my heavier mates do out of their 625WH.

I was lucky enough to have the top spec model at Bike Park Wales last Saturday. The integration was the best I have seen or used. Super stealthy. It was easy to use. The dropper was way too short on the medium I rode. Motor was really smooth and natural feeling though not mind blowingly powerful. We had a cube stereo 160 with gen 4 bosch with us and that had a more punchy feeling motor. That said the way it delivered the power was lovely. It cleared the rooty section on the ebike steep climb better than my Merida with EP8. The downhill was great though. It was way more lively than I was expecting with that length chainstay and it was really planted on the downhill. The front end felt lovely. Ultimately we were not convinced that the motor will be good enough to be the big surprise in EWSE 2022 though it does feel great to ride. Will love to hear your thought on the bike and the motor soon Rob. Keep up thr good work man!

Good review as always , I hope when you test you use the mega motor test hill climb to compare this new PW-X3 to the others previously tested. This motor could be serious competition for the Bosch, which performed well during that test and an interesting comparison to the PW-X2.

This bike rides better than than the rail and I've ridden both extensively I now own the E+1 and definitely a heavy hitter love it !! so have ordered the E+0 new motor is soooo quiet Smooth power and the feel and playful ness of this bike is awesome value for money is sooo good too decends and climbs well overall super happy

Looks totally mint Rob. Been waiting for this one to come out and be tested. Looking for a monster capable ebike with a huge range that can go anywhere unphased and can take you deep into the wilds on its charge. While technically in different classes, I would be very interested to know how this compares against the Rail, also the Bullit and say the Magawatt. Which rides and handles the best down and up, and which makes the best 'do anything, go anywhere, adventure bike'? I would be very interested in your opinion as to what's the best 'do anything, go any....'

Good vid Rob,looks like a sweet rig.not dissimilar to my 2021 e trance +1pro s ,I have the 625wh battery, xt drivetrain ,did have xt brakes before changed them for Hope's(personal preference nothing wrong with the XT's). Albeit with shorter travel 150/140(but coming off an analogue 170mm/160 enduro before this haven't really noticed any major difference (I'm not a freeride or big air rider by any means). Good to see Giant bikes getting some UK airtime as it seems everyone was previously so in love with the specialised Levo to bother looking past it for anything else(well a lot of people I know anyway).

I just got my new e mountain bike it's the leaderfox ayra, it's the best bike I have ever had it's just under 4k, and the specs are stunning! 720wh battery 20ah

I was thinking about buying it. I'll wait till I see your test ride.

Looks good with excellent integration, and I'm curious about the new motor's torque specifications. I was supposed to hit the trails this morning, but my wife had to go shopping and left me with the kids. Arg!

My Reign e+2 is due in my LBS in the next few days. Can't wait. My first e-bike. I think the one Rob has is the e+1. The top of the range is the e+0. The e+2 has the SRAM kit, which I like...and it's £5495. So a little cheaper than the e+1. Think there is also an e+3, which is the entry level.

i read loads of reviews now about this bike and all just seem to show the specs but no one is really talking about how this bike rides. cant wait for your opinion on it, since my last choice on my ebike, the decoy, was inspired by you and it really didnt disapoint! what i would like to know is if the relative high weight of the bike still makes it agile or more of a „irolloveranything“-tank.

Hi Rob, I've got the lower spec version of this bike in XL. I installed a OneUp 210mm dropper, it can go all the way to the collar of the dropper. I've got 100mi on mine so far in 3 rides. I'm I've 102kg and ride pretty hard. So far I like the bikes handling, I can get behind it on steep stepped terrain and control the front to pop and drop. I installed a Michelin Wild Enduro 2.8 on the back and it still has plenty of chainstay clearance.

Nice preview! I read complaints about the range of the battery. Would be nice if you give some comparisons with other bikes. I think the range is a very important attribute, nobody wants to stack in bottom of a hill when riding with buddies :)

Agree it looks very nice. However I have read on ebike forums on Giant’s warranty service isn’t very good at all ? Think I will stick with my Levo SL for now as I haven’t had a reason to switch brands, Levo SL is awesome. But it’s great to see healthy competition, Giant I must say give a lot of bike here for the money which I would say offer more spec wise than the Levo equivalent. Great vid Rob

Giant is doing right and the Yamaha motor is the best IMO . With all the Gen 1 and 2 Levo motor problems I thought for sure the Gen 3 would have the Yamaha system.

Didn’t like it at first because of the size of the down tube , but it’s grown on me really quickly, and I do like big heavy bikes , I personally prefer the heavy weights to the lighter bikes

Cant wait to hear your thoughts on this… saw it on EMBN (tho they never offer any opinion - just stats). The geometry looks ideal, but Ive heard a lot of people saying that the Giant ebikes have terrible wiring/waterproofing (Im in Scotland :). In the market for a new emtb, not wanting an EP8 with the rattle (Sams Bikes was saying the EP8 is thirsty too), and Bosch is meant to have a rattle too… so keen thinking the Yamaha could be the best option. Got a Gen 2 Levo just now - so not in a rush to buy - but will be bike to work / 4yr investment - so Im wanting my ebike to be saaahweeeeeet :). Looking fwd to your review man

As always great initial detail review. This bike is on my radar. The geo looks good with slack front end, mullet wheels, chainstay reasonable, and Fox suspension. I am very curious your thoughts on the latest Yamaha motor. I am currently riding '22 Levo Expert and really enjoy the big torque feel of the Brose motor. I also have a Shimano 7000 motor in my Intense Tazor expert and while it does have less power (only rated 60Nm peak power) compared to the Brose it has very smooth and natural assist. The Shimano EP8 motor in my Tazer MX Pro has a lot of gear rattle. Looking forward to your insights on the new Yamaha PWX3 motor and how this new Giant Reign E+ handles - and give us some comparisons to the latest mullet '22 Levo's.

nearly ordered one of these but found out the 2022 Trance E advance can be had for the same money running carbon. trail orientated I know, but for me its a better all rounder

I think it’s important to point out to people that those 1000 charging times you can do to the batter do not differentiate between a 20% charge or a full charge cycle ! So consider charging your bike the longest % you can every time you charge it to prolong the life of your battery

I've gotten so used to my Kiox controller and all the information I get at my fingertips. although this is cleaner, I like my setup better.

Please have a comparison video on Trek Rail and Giant Reign please!!!! I wonder if they would be similar since Trek bikes are manufactured by Giant.
