Wow. Superb playing. Both guitars sound absolutely amazing. Very distinct personalities. Killer tone. I own both a 2011 Std & a 2015 Studio. It's refreshing to see a vid like this with quality playing with someone who knows and recognizes great tone.

Most of the differences are not coming from the pickups, the guitars sound quite different already acoustically. Btw I have compared 480/498 and Burstbuckers Pro several times one the same guitar and find them quite similar actually! Thanks for the comment! Cheers!

i like the studio better in all cases. it's warmer. i don't like the brittle brightness of the standard. and aren't the studios chambered bodies? and you are amazing! i think you can make a broom sound great! your technique is so dazzling, a person actually forgets to listen to the tone that much. thanks for showing this.

@DucksDeLucks11 жыл бұрын
I love how systematic your comparison is. Playing is super of course. The standard seems to have a more nuanced tone, more character, while the studio sounds a bit generic. But maybe that's because I know it costs a lot more!
@ElliottMichaels568 жыл бұрын
Let's all remember, a lot of the differences have to do with the quality and thickness of the strings you use, the settings of the tone controls for each pickup, and of course, the amplifier and speakers you use and how you set them. The guitar itself matters, of course, but other things have to be taken into consideration. I play an emerald-colored Epiphone Les Paul, and I also play a hybrid guitar which has the body of a Squier Affinity Stratocaster and the neck of a Kramer Stryker. I can get great sounds from both of them, usually using my Marshall solid-state 8020 amplifier and occasionally using my Marshall 75 Reverb amp with a Peavey Scorpion-Plus speaker. I prefer the sound of the Peavey speaker over a Celestion; the Peavey has a richer, fuller tone quality. But that's just my opinion; when it comes to musical hardware it's important to test-drive it both on your own and with your band, in order to determine what's right for you and what works best for the music you play in your band. And that's my soap-box sermon for today. Rock on, my friends!

Lemme just say you're strong for switching Les Paul like that so many times. Loved the A/B system you had going. Playing fantastic as well! Standard sounded brighter, a tad warmer. However, I preferred the sound of the Studio. I feel like it had a much more tight tone.

I have a 2010 Faded with BB Pro's, another LP with 490r and 490t, and a third with BB2/BB3. BB Pro's have the hotter Alnico 5 magnets and the 490's have Alnico 2 magnets. They all sound very different. Tone hunting? Here's a link to Gibson's pickup audio clips: www.gibson.com/News-Lifestyle/Features/en-us/tone-hunting-0309-2011.aspx

EXCELLENT JOB! Great playing, fantastic recording quality- and a VERY useful video. I'm in the midst of trying to decide/understand/justify the additional expense of a Studio v. any of the higher priced LPs. Obviously the physical characteristics can't be judged without actually playing them all, but this goes A LONG WAY to show you can do many/most of what you want to do without spending a fortune.
@LetArtsLive8 жыл бұрын
+Compulsor I bet the standard is lighter.If you do buy a studio and you can get one 2007 or before it will not have a crappy pcb inside.Even the expensive ones have that crap now.I dont like it.The only good thing is you can plug pickups now.Look at the chapman video it has a nice neck joint but shit electronics not hard wired.

@user-fd4qx1vs7e2 жыл бұрын
