Today is our first day of baling dry hay for the 2024 season! This is being filmed in late June and it’s been a struggle to get in the fields all summer so far. But lucky today the 7810 and New Holland square baler are able to get some work done. It was a great day of haying and we are looking forward to many more this summer. Thank you all for watching!

Nothing like a NH baler and thrower! I used to stack behind them, first was a 1960's 281, and then an '80's 326. The old one, I could keep up with, but the newer one would cover me up in good hay. Then I had to unload the wagons... Didn't need a gym for a workout! 😂👍👍

Best workout and sense of accomplishment on the farm. Nothing gives better piece of mind than a barn full of small squares. Especially in the dead of winter.

Man, I broke out in a sweat watching this video. My father built two hay wagons in the mid 70’s after looking at the metal racks at a neighbor farm progress show. They were pretty big for our operation, Our neighbor down the road bought the wagons at our farm machinery auction in 2001 a just recently dad made some repairs in the back that had blown out. Had the lumber to repair.

We had a few flat wagons that I could stack 175 on, and some commercial 8X18's that would hold 225, but my favorite was a 9X18 that I could stack 300 on, and still get in the shed. Those were some good days, but I don't want to do it now! 😂

Holy moly! Suddenly it's 1956 middle of Iowa hotter than the hubs of hell and NO breeze. Riding the hay rack trying to stand up as the bales slowly came up the shute. Used wire in those days always handy to fix stuff with. 50 cents per hour end of day fore arms raw from the stickers. Keeping balance used 2 years later in Navy. Good times.

I’m 68 I used to be on a farm back 60’s and 70’s. I can remember, it was always hot and humid. Then who was going to be on the wagon and who was going to be in the barn? I miss those days. Now I live in a condo. Like they say. You take the boy out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the boy!

t-rex, I am 75 and making hay in the 50's & 60's was hard work. Yes indeed, many memories. We had a Farmall M and IH baler (self propelled was very rare, v4 engine was a beast) no thrower. Aaron knows what he is doing.

When the bust bale came out you said the very same thing as I was thinking. Change of ball. We always had New Holland balers. They were good balers. Great video. All the best 🇬🇧.

One thing about farming is every year is different. Nice looking hay even though it's a little bit late making it. Nice equipment. Y'all are good farmers. I enjoy watching the videos. Makes me miss my 575 with the thrower and eztrail wagons. I'm just round baling now. Thanks again for sharing the video.

Yeah, I switch baling that always happens to me when it switches ball "knotting on the knot" we always say. I like stacking that first cutting hay. It's more like block and less like marshmallows. Much bigger windows for a lot of us compared to last year for sure.

Great video! Spend many hours riding tractor raking hay then unloading wagons onto elevator. Nothing smells better than freshly baled hay. Unloaded wagons till it was time to bring cows in for milking. Keep up the great work! P.S. Hoping to get to go visit farm that I spent many summers at. Still going after all these years!

This year sure has been a discouraging year for hay. I only managed to get a couple of loads baled. I lost over half of first cutting to rain that was not in the forecast until it showed up on radar. What's left to cut will feed out like cardboard with no chance of a third cutting. Yesterday we go 4 inches of rain. Next chance of clear weather is a week away.

Yeah, we got about 6000 pills off of 45 acres on first crop, it is Brom in with the alfalfa, after that, we got 3000 bales on the second crop and 2000 bales on the third crop. Open central, Minnesota, Lowry, Minnesota where the millennial farmer is, if you watched a millennial farmer and always fancy John Deere equipment. His home place is 1 mile from my home place. He makes more money on his KZfaq channel then he does actually farming and has over 1 million subscribers. But I like your channel better because it’s pretty much the way we did things when I was growing up, we had a 268 new Holland baler, my brother drove the tractor, and I rode the rack. Our barn was 35 x 60 and it held 5000 bales 16 layers thick in the haymow. We saved a room for second crop on the north end, because we ground a lot of alfalfa to put in with our pig feed for the sows especially. We had turned an old chicken coop into farrowing house using two by fours. Wayfair at nine sales in September and nine sales in November.
