I stumbled on "The Gift of Dyslexia" at age 47, I'd long suspected I'm dyslexic and I am that. After learning and applying the correction methods I have made tremendous progress in reading, writing, comprehension and verbal communication. What a blessing this book has been to me, being free of disorientation is akin to being freed from torture and imprisonment. As I continue to hone my skills the prospect of becoming a Davis Facilitator looks more appealing.

Hi Cliff, I'm glad that the Davis methods have helped you make great strides. I think it's important to share our stories and especially talk about the dyslexic experience so that people understand it better. Thank you for taking the time to share your story. Training to become a Davis Facilitator has been so rewarding for me and I would wholeheartedly recommend it!

An excellent presentation of what I understand so far. I’m hoping to take the first Davis workshop Feb 2020 in Burlingame.

Hi there, I would recommend that you speak to a Davis Facilitator in your country. You can use this website to check out the directory of Davis Facilitators worldwide: www.davismethod.org/davis-facilitators/ They will then be able to guide you about what programmes would be suitable for you. If it's reading adn writing you're looking to improve a Dyslexia Correction Programme could be what you need.

As a dyslexic man I find this video interesting but you slow. Good editing your sounds levels were on point as well. Have a good day. Did you notice that you finish the course on the winter solstice. Jeez, somebody needs to tell those dogs that you're filming and that they need to be quiet.

Thanks for the feedback Anthony. That was one of my first proper videos and I realise that too. I'm aware of it when making future ones. I didn't know that about the winter solstice! Sounds cool. Haha I always get disruptions when filming 😆

Great Video! Were you able to use the correction methods successfully with your tutoring students after doing this workshop?

Hi Melissa, thanks! I can actually say that I've had success. I delivered a dyslexia correction to a student, a 4 day intensive where she had permission to take leave from school. My student is 8 and has a diagnosis of dyslexia. She was able to write but when reading she stumbled on every 3rd word. It's been 3 months since her programme and weekly tutoring sessions later, her mum told me that she picked up a book and read it from cover to cover. She still stumbles but she's getting much better with practice. It's been life changing!

That is awesome! Are you still offering the "method" as a service?
@UPPERLEARNINGRESOURCES
@UPPERLEARNINGRESOURCES 6 жыл бұрын
I offer it to my existing students but I can't advertise it as a service as I'm not licenced yet. When I get my licence, I'll will be offering it in addition to tutoring, yes. There's more to it than just the dyslexia, so you can't look out for those things until you've had the full training. But doing this course will enable you to use the dyslexia part of the method (not the dyscalcuclia ADD/ADHD, dysgraphia part which is taught in the Advanced Workshop) with the students you already have, especially if you're working in a mainsteam school. You'll be able to use it in the classroom but you can't advertise and do it privately until you have the full licence.
