The Tele kit is the same price as a Squier or more than a Harley Benton ? Add the paint and it's more !!! The rest is pretty reasonable especially the King of Tone pedal kit. Thanks Phil !!!

We were talking about kits to help learn soldering in chat of the last live stream! Perfect timing! And if I read that Sweetwater guarantee correctly anything that breaks or wears out will be replaced? I wear out their strings all time. Lol.

Phil, I recently did a Colortone rattle can job on a Tele Deluxe. Get a 3 pack of those Krylon trigger sprayers that snap onto the top of the can. I found them on Amazon. For a first time nitro finish, it turned out great and those trigger sprayers made all the difference.

I just built a kit guitar myself and really enjoyed doing it; I actually built the whole thing on a kitchen table😁. I even fully documented it, even the mistakes, the biggest mistake fitting the pickups wrong. I only realised when I was comparing the size of the body to another guitar. My tip is don't rush it. I found it wasn't easy to figure out which screws to use; I just got a bag of screws with no idea where they go.

Watch out with the multi point output jacks when using the in an old Duo Sonic where it inserts into the guard. They grab so firm that it can pull the one guard screw loose from the body.

Great video. I like how you want people to be able to do at minimum the basics as for as repairs and maintenance. I have had great luck with StewMac tools that are specifically designed for guitar wirk. I've tried other brands but most fall short. I'm firmly in the buy a tool once camp. Looking forward to the related videos to this. Great job.

Having built part of an amp and seeing how stomp boxes are built I think it's just cheaper to buy off the shelf stuff rather than trying to copy stuff that's already been copied.

I've built both the Ghost Drive and the Two Kings. Instructions are pretty good. Most of the tools in the builder kit are available at Lowe's/Home Depot. A good soldering iron and electronics solder and flush wire cutters are probably the only basic tools that the average person doesn't already have. The PC board holder is really worth it for building that type of project, but you can get the exact same tool, minus the Stew Mac logo, on Amazon for less money. I really want to build a Strat or offset kit, however Stew Mac doesn't have a single left-handed kit on their site.

I've seen them recently on Amazon, but have no idea. I bought a bullet tele, the switch crapped out pretty quickly, so i replaced the switch and potts. I was nervous about it, but got it done. The parts were about 30 bucks, and the soldering iron was around 20. Ive learned alot about set up and basic guitar wiring for pretty cheap. Maybe 50% off could allow you to mod it of it aint that great. Good luck

Hey Phil, I would really like to see a video where you put together a budget kit that would work well for setups and fret work. Most of us wouldn't be using these tools enough for them to wear out, we just need things that are easy to use and work well, if they wear out quickly or don't last that's not really a problem. Music Nomad has a precision setup kit that mostly consists of instructions and various guages, it's $60 and I'm sure it's high quality but the same results could be achieved with much less expensive items. I've never used guages to set up my guitars, I just go by feel and sight but I'm curious to see if a system like the Music Nomad one would work better. I'd be even more interested in an inexpensive fret work kit. I'm intimidated to try and do fret work but with an inexpensive kit and step by step instructions I would give it a shot.

I had a problem with a pad on the board and no matter what I couldn't get my new 22ga wire to solder shinny. A solid and stranded sets of Amazon wire insulation melting off and then getting some wire from Antique Electronics solved the heat issue but not the tinning with non lead solder. Finally have the option of non lead for my new Epi mods and lead for old amp and vintage guitar repair by going with 20ga stranded heat resistant auto primary wire from Napa that is not tinned giving me the choice of non Kester or lead. Hope this helps somebody

Dear Phillip - Please permit another question - Which is the BEST IMPORT FENDER Stratocaster to buy ? I want it to feel like a Rolls Royce and stay under 1000 $. You know what I mean right ? When I play my 1000 $ Ibanez, my 2500 $ Gibson LP, or a Yamaha Revstar they all feel so wonderful - but when I pick up my 1986 Kramer Liberty Anniversary Edition (white) then I feel that I am playing a Rolls Royce... just another level up .......... so that's what I am looking for, for my next Stratocaster (SSS pickup config) purchase. WHAT do you recommend -- PLEASE ???
