This is exactly the overview of this board I was looking for. The 3 m.2 slots is great to build a dense SFF system with quite a lot of storage. Based on pcpartpicker, the only place listed with it in the States is B&H, they've got it in "pre-order" status for 269.99 USD, which for what this board is packing isn't bad in my opinion. I'm looking to build a Ryzen 7000 / Radeon 7000 build in an NR200, and this board will give me everything I need, especially with all of the PWM headers available via the breakout connectors. Great with this one. I hadn't yet been able to find a good overview of this board (at least in English) and sometimes it's nearly impossible to get all the information you're looking for from the manufacturer page. Videos like this are why I keep coming back.

Motherboard prices have replaced GPU's as the new price gouged item. Why bother with Nvidia and AMD when they can just get around them and take more profit for themselves. The last past few years for PC building have been painful. All their sensationalized hyperbolic claims of "increased cost" is just a load along with the supposedly "RAM Shortage" which wasn't a thing, just another manipulated part of the industry. Just like "hard drive crypto farming" another piece created by Hard drive manufacturers in hopes of artificially driving up cost. Then they say Motherboards will go up because parts for DDR5 and PCI-E 5.0/4.0 are expensive and when you talk to the right people in the industry, you find out it the premium of those parts is maybe $10/$20, not $200/$300. One thing is for certain, that Motherboard profit margins are the highest that they have EVER been. If PCIE 4.0/5.0 and DDR5 motherboards are a premium, then why have PCIE 3.0 and DDR4 motherboards increased in price if they don't have those new shiny peices?? Paying more, getting less than ever.
@Snafu2346
@Snafu2346 Жыл бұрын
As long as there are PC marks that are stupid enough to pay for it, they will continue. Even Nvidia or AMD see how regardless of their overpriced GPU's, most of which are horribly priced, there are enough framerate queens/framerate simps, who have more money than sense that will pay it regardless. Same reasons why Car dealerships can charge 100% over sticker for cars. Honda Civic Type-R is $100,000 USD over here. $60,000 above sticker and they sell them. for a CIVIC. If you have the money to waste, then what difference does it make to them?

Though I will say consoles give you the best bang for your buck if you only care about gaming. I spent an extra $50,000 for my EV6 Kia, and it means nothing to me on top of the base $60k Though I will say that $100k for a Honda Civic couldn't care what variant, Type R, Type C, Type S, Type who gives a shit, is stupid. Great presentation! FWIW, when I bought this board last week, this was the LEAST expensive of all the ITX boards in its class at $260 US. I'm building the system w/it as I type this and the more I look at the design, the more impressed I am. I've seen complaints about the daughter board(s), but IMHO these are pretty well-done and quite appropriate given ITX size limitations. The M.2's are indeed crazy, well thought-out and easy to access, and I'm happy to see the optional fan there, as I've seen M.2s in previous systems getting near the 'uncomfortably' warm side. Third Giga board I've bought and (so far) very happy.

@peoplez129
@peoplez129 11 ай бұрын
I'd say a fan swap is possible, but not ideal, since you would have to peel off the cover to even get to it I think. As far as I can tell the fan is made to not be removed. Also you don't even need the fan, it's almost pointless. Not because it's soo tiny that it'll do basically nothing (your system fans provide more passive airflow than it ever could), but also because the heatsink is beefy enough that everything will run cool anyways even without the fan running anyways.

@peoplez129
@peoplez129 11 ай бұрын
@@kasimirdenhertog3516 It's just a really popular board, especially because it's basically the cheapest ITX board you can get for AM5, even though it isn't cheap. I'd still put in the breakout board, because the sideways nature of the connectors allows for more tidy cabling. You also don't just lose the sysfan and front panel connectors, you lose power LED's by not using it too. The board only has just a power button connector on it. Since it doesn't take up much space, and it will take up space that would be empty anyways, it's not really helpful to not use the breakout board. It's worth putting in even if you don't intend on using it. It does come out kinda easy though, so you wouldn't want to try to yank out a SATA cable, as it would pull the whole breakout board with it. I think that's by design because if it was too hard to remove the breakout board, it would likely break. The board could have definitely been done better, but it might also be one of the better boards, as it basically has the best VRM's of any ITX AM5 board, it's a little over engineered, while also being a little wonky in the port layout. I don't think there's any defect, although I did have a heck of a time trying to get a Noctua heatsink mounted to it, because every time I screwed one screw in a little bit, the other side of the heatsink would raise up a bit and unlatch the other screw before I could screw it in, like there was an offset. Could have just been that it was a reused heatsink that was slightly distorted after being mounted to an intel system for soo long, or could have been an issue with the AM5 mounting kit or the board itself being misaligned slightly, but I eventually got it secured properly after some very gentle and slow tinkering. I am thinking it was just because the heatsink could have been slightly distorted though, because it was mounted to an intel socket for several years in a vertical orientation, so there was probably an ever so slight distortion in the bracket on the heatsink and I didn't want to force it. Since the screws are kind of free floating with a spring, there is slack for slight misalignments without causing any undue stress, but I'm used to the screw down process being much smoother, without any tinkering. But Noctua's AM5 mounting kit is also less robust than their Intel mounting kits. The free AM5 mounting kit I got from them was really just not polished, engineered in the cheapest way possible, while the Intel mounting hardware I had been using was just much more precision engineered, with a more pristine finish and better looking screws. They really cheaped out on the AM5 mounting kits for some reason. You can tell it's like a stamped steel instead of a machined steel, with all kinds of surface and edge imperfections and the text stamped into it being not so smooth and clean. The Intel kit on the other hand looks like it was designed with laser precision in comparison. But when you've got a super beefy Noctua heatsink, it's worth the trouble to save $100 and reuse it between builds, instead of buying a new heatsink. This Noctua heatsink is about 10 years old and still going strong.

@@seankillar123 It's not a great board, it has a flawed ethernet adapter, well known that its flawed, cuts out all the time, like 3 times a day at least, sometimes every 5 minutes. It's actually criminal that they even sell it since its been known to have issues for years. Avoid it. It's not a software issue either, it's completely a hardware design issue on the ethernet chip. Just look up "Intel i225-v" and you'll find thousands of posts about people having issues with it. There is no software fix because it's not a software issue, so it literally can't be fixed with any settings or driver.

A downgrade in audio adapter compared to the last gen. Like most boards in the current AM5 line up.

Give me a B650i board with proper 2.5G ethernet adapter thats solid with working drivers and reasonable price. I refuse to buy half-baked boards for this price. Forget about the price just make it proper without RGB, ULTRA or anything gaming-related and I'll pay double.

I've spent more time than I care to admit researching AM5 ITX boards. The takeaway..... this board is hot garbage. Not from a functional stand point but from a design standpoint. Apparently its particularly inconvenient to build with due to the location of the audio header being under the M2 heat spreader and the daughter boards used. That said if you don't mind these short comings it goes on sale for a pretty dang good discount from time to time as a result of people like me specifically crossing it of their list.

So its a free commercial, even worse. Why even take it out of the box? Just take their marketing pictures and put a script over it would have the same value. An overview would at least put a cooler on there to see fitment.
