Tutorial UV Resin and Wire Dragonflies

Welcome back to my channel.
I have been wanting to make Dragonflies for ages and these wire and UV resin are just gorgeous.

You can make your wire more sturdy by using a jewelry hammer. It'll make the wire slightly flatter and more resistant too. You can use the textured one to give your metal some texture. And it's also a great stress relief 😂😊 Thanks for sharing. These are beautiful 😍

I watched this a few days ago and forgot to comment. Those are beautiful! I remember in the late 60's there was this craft called "Fantasy Film" I think. You made wire shapes, dipped them in a colored liquid, set them upright to dry, then assemble flowers, butterflies, whatever. I loved doing those. This reminded me of that time when I did that. I SO want to try this. I will have to get the UV light and resin though. But I think it will be so worth it. Oh, and probably add to my bead collection and get a stiffer gauge of wire. Thanks for sharing this. Beautiful!! Love it!!

I was totally remembering that stuff as well, it was like a liquid plastic and smelled horrible, a bit like a thick nail polish. I’m glad that you mentioned that stuff? I agree how fun it would be to make these beautiful dragon flies, they are so many ways you could enhance them. I loved watching this. To the maker, Thank you for giving us this video! ❤️❤️❤️👍🏼

Yes I remember that stuff. It was so much fun. Not as strong, but flexible. .My dad made my mom a very unique pair of 3 D earrings with wire and dipped them. deep orange and magenta. He put them in a paper machete egg thqt he also made and painted, then presentment them to her. Wish someone would bring that stuff back. Light weight too.

Please, What kind of resin and lamp are you using? Does it yellow?

@@kimberlydragone6015 it's UV resin and don't yellow. But some have a strong odor. The best I found with low odor is 'Let's Resin' brand. For the light you can use either a UV lamp or a simple nail lamp which is what I use.

Reminds me if the kits we got back in the 70s. Mostly made flowers by dipping wire loops in jar of stuff. When they dried in to a film we joined several together to form flowers. Also made some dragonflies and leaves. They were fragile and didn't last long These are beautiful and more durable. Thank you for sharing

I immediately remembered making those flowers and remembered the chemical smell of the liquid film. I wonder what it was and what irreparable damage it did to us kids playing with it!

I love dragonflies!! For their size, they are mighty killing machines!! Our USAF tries to design the latest fighter jets and military helicopters from the dragonfly!! A drone is the closest thing to a dragonfly in our military fleet!!
