I’m a 30 year man from right outside of Boston and this gives me chills to this day

I got chatting with my 8 year old son about the 2001 Patriots. I told them about 6th round Tom Brady coming in after franchise QB and mega contract Drew Bledsoe was almost killed in a sideline hit by Mo Lewis in week 2. It was the hit that altered the course of Patriot and NFL history forever. I had to come and watch this again, it’s been so long it’s easy to forget how absolutely incredible that season was to watch unfold each week.

My dad and I would turn down the tv volume and listen to Gil and Gino.

Antowain Smith, JR Redmond & Kevin Faulk were HUGE in this game! Each had clutch 1st down conversions!

RIP Gil & Gino. One of the greatest broadcasters in NFL history.

Listening to this for the first time and getting goosebumps as i was 7 at the time and from the UK

Shit, hearing Gil goes back to when I was a kid and he was the only place we could hear or watch or anything else because of the blackout rules at the time. SO GLAD he was able to call the first three championships. Damn, I miss that voice.

Miss these guys, I didn't have tv that year, being young and just married but I listened to every game, I was the only one around my circles who knew what the Patriots were doing, the fact they had the Rams beat earlier in t he year gave me hope, I knew Brady was special, hearing every game from these was absolutely the best, WHAT A GAME

This was the first time a team I rooted for won a championship. Then my friends would say that won’t happen ever again....

That game sure erased a lot of bad memories - particularly of the '76 divisional playoff game and the phantom RTP call against Sugar Bear Hamilton. I was 8 (almost 9) and I thought my dad was going to blow a gasket. Awful.
