@@josh0253 Realistically Lebron wasn’t gonna save the dunk contest because it’s always been hit or miss. Some are good and some are not even if stars were in it just due the contest getting gradually harder to impress people over the years. Topin did a 360 between the legs dunk with 2 hands and ain’t get a 50 because we have seen people online do it cleaner. That’s how hard it is to get a high score now so stars would avoid it regardless.

McCants never bring facts to refute Gilberts point. One thing Gilbert has stood on is that the face of the NBA is never in the dunk contest especially after winning a chip or chips. He can't refute that point. Just because he a power dunker doesn't mean he's a creative dunker.

Name the faces of the NBA that didn't enter the dunk contest. There are only so many face of the league players. Certain players don't have the athleticism like Magic and Bird. Lebron didn't win a chip till he was like 28 years old. So he had ten years that he could have entered the dunk contest. Kobe won in 1997. There was no dunk contest in 1998 and 1999. Kobe could have came back in 2000 but he wanted none of Vince Carter. Kobe even stated that he would only enter if he knew he could win.

I’m so glad LJ didn’t fold to the pressure of doing the dunk contest. He’s not a dunk contest dunker. The McDonald’s high school dunk contest told us that years ago. SAS saying he ruined it is clearly clickbait for casual fans and some casuals, even ex-players eat up every word. Pathetic take.

Bron literally won the McDonald’s game dunk contest with the same dunk he’s been doing since he got him the NBA. Unless they’re gonna clear the entire court, let him go downhill, and put a man under the rim he can bam on, I don’t and didn’t wanna see him in the dunk contest. Some guys due to how they play are better in game dunkers than they are creative and graceful dunkers. Nique was a power dunker, but he was graceful too. He could jump off two feet and that made him unique. Kemp was the same way. So was J. Rich. All were bow legged dunkers too. So it’s combo of a lot of things that makes for a good dunk contest dunker.

I grew up in Miami, and Noris Cole could vouch for what I'm about to write. When Lebron was part of the Big3 in the MIA, just about every warm up before a game Lebron would incorporate a slam dunk contest against other high flyers of the Heat. I watched him in a pregame warmup right before their run into the Payoffs, and eventually winning their last Chip, do an insane dunk. He threw the ball in the air from about 3ft behind the 3pt line, caught from way outside the paint where I couldn't believe he slammed it so effortlessly with the power he's known for. After seeing that I couldn't believe he still turned down the dunk contest, that would have been great for the Culture, and added more to his one of a kind record of accolades.
