Gil Scott was always a real musician who suffered for his music. The world has been asleep for too long. Rip Gil, you were fighting to wake the people up. You did. Thank you

I always wish I could’ve seen GSH. I was at this very festival for three days or so, but was young, didn’t know GSH, I was partying hard, and have no recollection of whether I saw him or not. 😢. Fast forward about twenty-five years and I’m listening to William DeVaughn “Just Be Thankful” on Thanksgiving Eve and the KZfaq algorithm suggests some GSH songs and the rest is history. The regrets of youth but the gratitude for KZfaq opening my musical horizons to GSH.

Gil Scott Heron was my first love, first crush, first person to educate me about life outside my status quo, teenage bubble. Introduced to his music at 12 or 13. I’m so sorry he’s gone! Thank the good Lord his musical, and spirituality will last forever.

Love this mans spirit. RIH . Within Gil's poetic genius, at the time I was exposed to his music at the sweet age of 20 or so; I had no idea the addiction he sung about, was part of his life. (The Bottle, Angel Dust, etc)

Does anyone know the name of the guitarist? All crew members are on fire. It appears that the guitarist is playing a right-handed guitar as a left-handed one like Jimi...except that the strings are still the "wrong" way. It's as if the dude just picked a right handed guitar and played it immediately out of the blue. Rip GSH.

We have to remember during this time, we're still in the thick of the grunge era. So the response is typical. A little more adult contemporary than what the masses can get into... But I can appreciate some of them trying. 😀🤘

GSH was genius. Had the pleasure of seeing him live a few times over the years. Saw him perform at concerts by the sea in Hermosa Beach. Sadly, Gil was drunk or high and very rude to the audience. How unfortunate that he slipped in and out of substance abuse. He was genius.

dont understand why these mockers would be highlighted at 3:17! This song is by an exemplary artist singing about a serious issue. It's not a joke.
